” Guy you’re gone ” Alec let out a dramatic laugh and Shane chuckled. ” I know ” He said laughing heartily. ” She really is giving you joy, I’m glad. All Brielle had always given you was emotional pain. I really can’t wait for you two ( Layla and Shane ) to be together ” Alec said truthfully and Shane smiled.

” Yeah me too. I really can’t wait ” He muttered.

** Next day **

* Kent’s Enterprise *

” Afternoon ” Layla greeted Tina as she entered their office. Tina raised her head and then smiled lightly at Layla. ” Afternoon Layla ” Tina replied cheerfully.

Layla walked over to her desk and when she saw the huge files waiting for her and the various text messages she was to reply to. She inhaled deeply and made to begin work immediately.

She was just resuming to work that day, she had a class that morning. ” You should go see Sire before you begin your work. He had requested to see you immediately you arrive ” Tina said and Layla sighed silently.

” Gosh. I hope nothing happens again ” She thought as she stood up, covering her spurn look with a smile on. She was unwilling to go to him.

She inhaled softly as she got to his office door. She knocked gently and almost immediately she heard his voice telling her to come in.

” Afternoon ” She muttered and bowed lightly. ” Was that really necessary? ” Shane asked with a chuckle and Layla raised her brows. She didn’t get what he meant. ” I meant the bow. You don’t have to do that whenever we are together ” He said, his voice a little bit firm and it sounded like an order to Layla. She nodded slowly. ‘ ok then. I’m sorry for doing that ” She said and he groaned lightly.

” Come on, can you stop with the unnecessary sorries too ” He said and she bit her lips. ” Sorry.. I meant.. sorry.. um.. I can’t… ”

” You say that word sorry one more time and I will shut you up with a kiss ” Shane said seriously and Layla gulped down into nothing at how serious he looked when saying that. She bit her lips.

” I won’t say that again.. sor.. ” She stopped on her tracks and then bit her lips. Can she really try not to say the word sorry?

” Tina said you wanted to see me? ” Layla asked after a bit silence. She really needed to leave, seeing the numerous works she had at hand, she really doesn’t have time to play around.

” You seem to be in a hurry? ” Shane asked with a little smirk and Alec nodded.

” Yeah, I have lots of works to do ” She muttered. ” Well I had called you here just to see your face.. ” Shane paused to see her expression and as thought, she blushed. She looked away trying to hide it and Shane chuckled, he had seen her.

” But looking at you right now, I don’t think I wanna look away at all ” He muttered, emotions glaring on his face as he stared at her intensely.

” But.. I have to work ” Layla stuttered. He staring at her wasn’t giving her time to breathe. She was getting heated up. His charms sure are working.

” Claus! ” Shane called, still not taking his eyes off Layla. Claus walked in almost immediately. ” Yes sir ” He bowed lightly.

” Get some boys,, I need them to bring Layla’s desk into my office. She would be walking from here as from now ” He ordered and Layla raised her brows in shock. She looked at Shane confusedly and shockingly

” Okay sir ” Claus said without delay and without questioning Shane’s order. He rushed out of the office to carry out his orders.

Shane returned his gaze to Layla and winked at her before walking back to his seat leaving Layla on stand.

Some minutes later, Layla’s desk was all set and it was opposite Shane’s own where he would get a clear view of her. He kept smiling sheepishly, staring at her while Layla couldn’t concentrate.

She kept biting her lips at several intervals and would look up every minute to see Shane staring at her. She suddenly got tired of it, he was serving as a distraction and obstruction to her work.

” Could you please stop? Please stop staring ” She pleaded, trying her best to look into his eyes for him to see how serious she was with her words.

” I can’t do my work. I feel uncomfortable ” She lied. She didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, she just couldn’t concentrate. She loved the way he stared at her with so much affection but since it’s what she’s trying to avoid, she had to make him stop.

” Oh ” Shane muttered as his face fell. She just told him she’s feeling uncomfortable ’cause of his stares. It was actually one of his ways of trying to confirm her feelings for him but she had to ruin it now. His stares are making her feel uncomfortable. No doubt those words hit him and hurt him so bad.

Layla noticed his changed expression and suddenly felt guilty.” Sorry ” He finally muttered and stood up.

With that, he walked out of the office with a pained expression on. Layla bit her lips guilty. She really didn’t expect him to take her words seriously.

She only wanted him to stop staring but ended up saying something bad. Where did he leave to? Should she go look for him and apologize? She stared down at the enormous files in front of her.

She would apologize later but for now, she needs to work on this. ” I hope he doesn’t really think too much about it. I didn’t mean to hurt him with my words ” She muttered with a sigh.

** Evening- Kent’s Enterprise **

It was time for Layla to leave for home but Shane hasn’t returned ever since. She planned on apologizing to him but he never came back into the office.

” Is he really mad at me? ” Layla thought and bit her lips guilty.

Waiting for some minutes more and when he didn’t show up, she walked out of the office and headed out of the company.

She got home and met Mirah busy with an assignment they were given at today’s class. She had done hers before going to work.

Mirah looked up and noticed Layla’s expression. ” Why’s your face spelling guilt? ” Mirah asked, studying her expression.

Layla sighed and landed on the couch. ” I fvcked up again ” She muttered, bitting her lips. Mirah raised her brows. ” How? ‘

” I somehow managed to push Shane away from me with an hurtful word and now I feel guilty ” She muttered and Layla arches her brows the more.

” I think you should be glad instead. Isn’t that what you wanted? You wanted him to stay away from you? ” She asked knowingly and Layla sighed.

” I know but what I actually told him hurt him. I don’t want to push him away like that. He really had a hurt expression on when I said those words. I feel really bad and guilty. He didn’t even return to the office throughout the day and that’s making me feel bad the more. I just want to see him and tell him I’m sorry ” She said with a sad and worried expression on.

” Girl you’re so gone in love ” Mirah teased and Layla scoffed. ” Come on, I’m serious. I’m really sad and feeling so damn guilty right now ” She muttered and Mirah sighed.

” Then call him ‘ She suggested and Layla spranged up. ” Yeah, I should do that ” She muttered and grabbed her phone. She dialed Shane’s number immediately.

She dialed it and it rang severally but he ignored her calls. ” I’m damn sure he saw it! He doesn’t want to talk to me ” Layla said in a broken voice and Mirah was more than shocked.

” Come on, Layla.. don’t tell me you wanna cry right now? ” Mirah asked surprisingly, moving closer to Layla.

” I’m not crying. Strangely it hurts. It’s the first time he’s gonna ignore my calls purposely ” She muttered. ” He might be busy you know? ” Mirah tried to convince her but Layla shook her head.

” No! He obviously saw it. It’s all my fault, I fvcked up ” She muttered and stood up and headed to their room.

Mirah sighed defeatedly but then chuckled at Layla’s expression. ” I don’t think she would be able to hide her feelings anymore ” She muttered to herself.

” Does he hate me now? ” Layla asked herself as she walked into the room.

” I’m sorry ” She muttered again, this time around she was already sitted on the bed available in the room.

” Why am I feeling hurt? Why does it hurt? ” She asked herself rhetorically.
