A Mistake… A Baby!

Chapter 8

15 years later

“Hey, Sandy! If you look at him too intently for too long, he’ll start to melt.” Cathryn made fun of her. She let out a sigh. This was something that did not go unnoticed by her friend; in fact, Cathryn was the only person besides his father who knew her too well. They have known each other for such a long time that they are well aware of each other’s character.

Cathryn massaged her temples. “You’ve reached your breaking point, have you? Are you going to change your mind at this point?”

She gave a little shake of her head and took a sip of the alcoholic beverage that was in front of them. She did not keep track of how many shots she had consumed; all she was aware of was that she needed to put the plan into action as quickly as possible. “No, I’m not backing out; I’m already here. Why should I even consider backing out?” It was her response.

“Sandy, are you sure that this is the case? That’s possible, right? Take some time to reflect. It must be difficult for you to do this to him. You are the only person who can determine if you are able to handle the repercussions.” Cathryn was very persistent in her nagging.

She took a look all around at the jubilant party, which was the complete antithesis of how she was feeling. Because it was Caleb and his fiancée’s engagement party, there was a lot of cause for celebration. She was prepared for a response from his father, but they are supported by him now. And there’s no way this could be. Because of how well they complement one another, he was unable to maintain his marriage.

As she looked at Caleb’s fiance’s family, her mouth dropped open in shock. It is fortunate that the woman is not present because her modeling manager had an unexpected need for her, which means that she will be able to carry out her plan tonight without any interruptions. And there was nobody who could stop her.

She turned her gaze to her friend. “You know what I’m starting to think if I’m really your best friend. On whose side are you going to fight? Do you have a favorable opinion of Caleb’s fiancée?” She let out a growl.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

The corner of Cathryn’s mouth quirked up. “Of course, I’m on your side. Sandy, what kind of a question is that? But because… I really do believe that big brother Caleb and his fiance are the perfect matches for one another. You two do not complement each other, and there is no chemistry between you. I believe that you would be better suited with-” She appeared to be glaring at me. The next thing she would say was the last thing she wanted to hear.

“Whatever it is that you want to say, Cathryn. I have no doubt that Caleb and I were destined to spend our lives together. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that I want him, I really do.” She brushed her hand lightly across her shoulder.

“Sandy, your love is different. Perhaps it’s just an infatuation you have with my older brother Caleb. Because he defended you before. You saw a hero in him. I don’t understand why you continue to pursue him when he clearly doesn’t care about you and doesn’t even recognize you as a woman. Are you blind? He only thinks of you as a younger sister. You are stunning, seductive, intelligent, and most importantly, you have a successful career. You can also attract a lot of men, so why do you still keep pushing him?” She exclaimed in surprise.

Her friend is right. A lot of people said she is beautiful. She is 5 feet and 4 inches tall, which she considers to be the ideal height for her frame. Her complexion is very fair, and her skin is very smooth. Because of the care that she took, there was not the slightest trace of a scar. Her waves were glossy, and they extended just a little bit past her shoulders. She had her mother’s oval face and her mother’s hazel eyes, her mother’s perfectly proportioned nose, and her mother’s naturally pink lips. She is able to say that her vital statistics, which are 34, 25, and 38, will also give off something. Together with Cathryn, she completed a course in business, and now the two of them run a successful pet store that also features a grooming center. Therefore, she is at a loss to comprehend what else could possibly account for Caleb’s lack of interest in her.

“I’m interested in your brother Caleb, Cathryn. I really, really want him. I am hoping that you will be supportive of me,” She uttered those words with tears in her eyes.

Cathryn took a deep breath. “What else can I do? You are of the appropriate age. I will stand by you even though I am fully aware that Caleb will despise you for the rest of his life if he discovers what it is that you plan to do to him. You are the closest friend I have. I don’t want to see you sad. I am standing right next to you right now.” She made an effort to smile. Cathryn cried and hugged her.

She counted herself extremely fortunate to have a friend such as her. “I can’t thank you enough, Cath. You are such a blessing in my life, and I can’t thank you enough. You are my best friend. I can’t afford to lose you. Even though we have other friends, no one can replace you!” She said emotionally.

“Sandy, I feel the same way about you. You are aware of that. Anyway, I have faith in your ability to carry out your plan. Let us clap and cheer for your success!” She raised the glass of alcoholic beverage. Both of them are giggling hysterically right now.
