A Naive Bride for the Sophisticated CEO

Chapter 54: Chat with Hopper.

Chapter 54: Chat with Hopper.

“What are you talking about, uncle!” Amelia yelled and sprang to her feet.

“Elena is your sister, Amelia. She is your twin sister!” He responded and also sprang to his feet.

“Noo… that is impossible. Elena can never be my sister. Do you know how much that girl hates me?” Amelia asked in anger.

“I’m sorry, but I didn’t choose that, okay? Can you at least let me finish explaining?” Freddie asked, and she shook her head aggressively.

“I would love to hear from that man outside.” She uttered and stormed to the door.

“That man is your father, Amelia! He isn’t just a man.” Freddie answered, following behind her.

Amelia stormed out of the office and headed to the living room to look for Hopper.

She got to the living room and found Hopper sitting on the couch and doing something on his cellphone.

“Amelia…” Hopper heard Freddie call, and he looked up to see Amelia in front of him. She stared at him speechlessly.

“Heyy…” He said and stood up.

“I want to hear everything from you.” Amelia uttered.

“Amelia, I’m telling you the truth! Why can’t you believe me?” Freddie asked in disappointment.

“Believe you? You have been lying to me my whole life! Why on earth would I want to believe you now?” Her voice was loud and full of rage.

“Amelia.” Hopper called, and she shifted her gaze from Freddie to him.

“You want to hear from me? Fine, I’ll tell you everything you want to know. Ask me anything.” Hopper added.

Amelia gulped hard and nodded. She sat on the couch opposite the one Hopper sat, and he sat on the couch too.

“Is it true that I was adopted by my deceased parents?” She inquired.

“Yes. They adopted you from us, your biological parents, Hopper and Penelope.”

Amelia lowered her head and covered her face with her hand. More tears heated her eyes as reality began to dawn on her.

“Sooo…” She shuttered and looked up at Hopper again. “Why didn’t you come back after they were murdered? Why didn’t you come back for me? Why come back now?”

“We didn’t think it was a good idea to break the news to your sister that she had an elder sister. We tried throwing it to her, but she wasn’t really pleased. Your mom didn’t want to see her angry, so she asked Freddie to take you in.”

“So she has hated me from the very beginning?”

“No, Amelia. Not hate. She just hates sharing what or whoever she loves with someone else. We needed to give her time to mature.”

“And me?? Why didn’t you care about what I felt?! Why did you make me believe I had no one else in this world!”

Amelia burst into great tears and Hopper looked at Freddie who looked sad too.

“I’m sorry, Amelia.” Hopper muttered, lowering his head too.

Amelia stopped crying all of a sudden and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Does Elena know that she has a twin sister now?” She asked and he shook his head.

“She doesn’t know yet. She returned home some weeks ago, and Penelope and I thought it was the perfect time to tell her the truth.”

“And do we have to tell her? Can’t we just keep living the way we used to? I don’t want to share anything with Elena either, even when it comes to my parents. The parents I knew are dead, and I want it to stay that way.” She answered coldly and sprang to her feet.

“No! Penelope wants her daughters back together.”

“And where was Penelope all these years anyway?! Why did she love one child more than the other? She made me suffer so much, I needed someone, and she wasn’t there! I don’t need a mother now, I am fine the way I am!” Amelia yelled, and Freddie flinched.

“Amelia…” Freddie called.

“I hope this is all a nightmare! I wished my parents were never killed that night, I still wish until this day. They were the only ones that truly cared about me. I would never forgive those that killed them. They would never hurt anyone.” Amelia mumbled.

Freddie and Hopper exchanged looks and quickly broke their eye contact.

“Amelia, I’m sorry you had to go through all these alone. And I’m grateful Freddie was there to take care of you all the way. But can we forget the past? Your real parents are here now. We want you back.”

“And I don’t want you! Why are you coming to ruin my life now that it is beginning to make sense to me? I was better off knowing my parents were dead and I had no siblings! It’s a nightmare to know I am Elena’s twin!”

“Amelia!” Freddie smacked.

“They always chose her, they should keep doing that. I don’t think she would want me anywhere close to her in any way.”

Amelia grabbed her bag and proceeded to the exit.

“Amelia, can you please calm down?” Freddie ran up to her and held her hand, making her stop.

“Let me go, Uncle. I’m trying not to hate you right now. I thought you loved me.”

She yanked her hand of his hand and stormed out of the house. Freddie wanted to go with her, but Hopper called him and made him stop.

“Let her be, Freddie. She needs time to take it all in.”

Freddie heaved a sigh and walked back to where Hopper stood.

“She is never going to love me the way she always did.” He muttered sadly.

“Don’t be so sad about that. She will come to understand that it’s not your fault and all you ever wanted was to take care of her.”

Amelia got home and looked around for James in the living room. He was nowhere to be found.

With tears in her eyes, she headed to the bedroom and found him sitting on the bed, with his laptop on his thighs.

As soon as she opened the door, he looked up and saw her. He let out a wide smile, but when he noticed the sadness registered on her face, his smile faded off immediately.

“Amelia, are you okay?”

He moved the laptop away from his lap and stood up. He walked to the door where Amelia was glued to.

“Hey, why are you crying?” He asked when he got closer and saw tears rolling down her cheeks.

She said no words but instead, wrapped her arms around him and embraced him tightly.

James, who was confused, hugged her too and patted her slowly. She broke down even more as he hugged him, and James got so worried.

“Please talk to me, Amelia. What’s wrong? Did anyone hurt you?” He disengaged from the hug and held her face in his hands, staring deeply into his eyes.

“I’m so hurt, James. I have been lied to my whole life.” She mumbled.

“Come here.” He held her hand and pulled her to the bed. He made her sit, and he squatted in front of her.

“I hate to see you cry.” He cleaned her tears with his thumb and pouted.

“Why doesn't anyone ever care about me? Why do they keep hurting me?”

“Shhhh… don’t say that, Amelia. I care about you and I would never hurt you. Not anymore. Can you tell me what happened?” He asked, and she shook her head.

“I’m too weak to start explaining it now. Can we talk about it tomorrow?” She asked, and he nodded.

“We have the whole time in the world. You can tell me anytime you want to. But can you please stop crying? It hurts to see you cry.”

Amelia bounced her head and smiled faintly. She looked at the Laptop and at him again.

“You looked busy when I came in.”

He bounced his head and got up. “I was busy with work. But I’m done now. I want to get busy with you.” He teased, hoping to see her laugh.

She giggled softly and looked at him. “Thank you, James.”

“Don’t thank me. It’s my responsibility to see you happy. So, why don’t you take a shower and we both go to bed? You look tired.”

Amelia nodded and stood up. She headed to the bathroom while James sat on the bed and began to round his work off.

He switched off his laptop and afterward, a message popped into his phone. He picked up his phone and checked it out.

It was Patricia that sent him a message, and it was a photo message. He furrowed his brows, wondering what was in the file.

He downloaded it and opened it to see it was a picture of them from college. In the picture, they were kissing, and their top was bare. It was a memory from their first night together.

James raised his eyesbrows and stared at the picture for a while. The good memories came rushing into his head and he couldn’t ignore that it was one of the best moments of his life.

“You remember you told me to delete this picture then?” Another message from her popped in.

“Yes, why do you still have it with you?” He texted back, with his eyes never leaving the picture.

“What do you mean? That was the best day of my life. I couldn’t delete it. If there’s one thing I want to keep forever. It is my memories with you.”

James gulped as he read her message and let out a sigh.

“It’s all in the past now. We have both moved on.”

“No. You moved on. I never did.” She texted back.

James was about to reply when the bathroom door opened. He quickly locked his phone and put it next to him.

“Hey, you are done.” He uttered, and Amelia nodded and walked up to him.

“What are you doing? Won’t you take a shower?” She asked.

“No. I did that before you came. Come here. Let’s sleep,” He said, opening his arms wide.

She laid in his arms and closed her eyes to sleep. James eyes were fully awake, thinking of the picture Patricia had sent to him over and over again.
