A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 14

Chapter 14

After sorting the ruckus, Luther returned to find that Sage was nowhere to be seen. He scanned the place and found the woman dressed in red having the time of her life on the dance floor.

Sage had become the center of attention on the dance floor. She was surrounded by a group of men who were cheering and whistling at her.

“Oh Sage, my dear…”

It had been ages since Luther last saw Sage letting her hair down. Under the bright and colorful lights, accompanied by the rhythmic dance music, Sage was bouncing and grooving to the beat, showing off her attractive physique.

At the bar, a man who had been admiring Sage for some time finally made his way to the dance floor. He stood close to her, and his hands were making their way to her hips.

“Shit!” cursed Luther when he saw how Sage was about to be taken advantage of. He was just about to make his way onto the dance floor when he heard a loud gasp.

Sage had reacted faster than Luther. She grabbed the man’s arms, threw him over her shoulder, and gave him a slap on the face before screaming, “How dare a peasant like you put your hands on me! You’ve got some guts, don’t you?!”

Apart from the thumping music, the club was silent. People stared in shock at the gorgeous woman who had suddenly turned into a terror.

Not only was she a good dancer, but she was also a good fighter.

Still feeling drunk, Sage was about to kick the man when Luther hurried over to stop her. He dragged her from the dance floor and sat her down at the bar. He poked her head and said, “You’re here to turn the club upside down, aren’t you?”

“Luther,” Sage mumbled while looking at Luther. Her eyes were unfocused. “Tell me. Wasn’t I attractive just now?”

Luther scolded peevishly, “Sure! Those men were staring at you like a pack of hungry wolves. They looked like they would devour you alive!”

“Then why don’t Jace like me?”

Sage was drunk and her guard was down. At this moment, the strong and tough Sage was long gone, and instead, Luther saw a hurt and lonely Sage.

“Do you know that I’m actually a person with no large ambitions? My biggest dream is to find a person that I love and be a good wife. It’s a pity that he doesn’t want me, right? I was married to him for three years. Through those years, I gave my all as his wife. But, he did not even acknowledge me, let alone touch me! Tell me, Luther! What is so repulsive about me?”

Seeing Sage behave this way broke Luther’s heart. He stretched out his hand and patted her head. “Nonsense, of all the women I know you are the best. It is his loss that he is unable to appreciate you.”

“Yeah, it’s his loss.”

Sage grinned and continued, “From today onwards, I will never change myself for a man. I want to be myself: the brave, independent, and confident Sage Norah.” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Back at the apartment, Sienna was dressing Jace’s hand. With a pitying look on her face, she asked, “Is it painful?”

Jace shook his head and touched Sienna’s swollen cheek which was swollen. “How about you?” he asked in turn.

Sienna smiled softly and replied, “It was painful, but now that you’re here, I’m feeling much better.”

Jace sighed softly, “I’m sorry to have put you through this.”

“In any case, she’s still my future mother-in-law. I still have to respect her.”

Laying in Jace’s arms, Sienna tried persuading Jace. “Jace, please do not fight with your mother over me. I don’t think she has anything against me. She just has a bad history with my aunt, and that is why she is unhappy with me. But, we are two different people. I believe that one day, she will be touched by our love, and she will accept us.”

Sienna thought of her wedding in two days. She would not allow any mistakes.

Sienna could not be bothered with what would happen to Freya.

Jace nodded softly. Recalling his mother’s firm decision, Jace could foresee that the upcoming wedding would not go as smoothly as they had planned.

Gently, he pushed Sienna away and asked, “How are you feeling?”

Sienna was startled by his sudden question. She coughed weakly and answered with a smile, “I’m fine. Healthcare technology has advanced greatly these days, and who knows, after getting married to you, my cancer would be gone without having to be treated at all.”

“There you go again with all that nonsense. How can you not get treated when you’re sick?”

Jace then added, “I’ve contacted the best doctor in the country, and he will be in Nadeem City in a few days. We’ll be able to meet with him soon.”

Sienna’s eyes flashed, and she whined, “It’s not urgent at all, and you know how I hate going to the hospital. Just the mention of the doctor sends chills down my spine. Let’s not talk about this anymore. So, when can we officiate our marriage?”

Jace paused before answering, “There are still some remaining legal procedures that we have to settle for the divorce. We can always collect the marriage certificate after our wedding.”

“Hmm, alright then.”

Sienna did not wish to reveal how eager she was. She wrapped her hands around his shoulders and whispered in his ears, “Jace, will you stay here with me tonight?”

“I can’t tonight. There’s still some work left that I need to do.”

Pulling the hands off his shoulders, Jace asked in a serious voice, “The article that was posted on the official website of the Yuriel Group this morning… Were you the one that had the Operations Department upload it?”

“Yes, and I thought you gave your promise about this. You agreed to announce our marriage, officially.”

Jace’s eyes were cold as he said the next words. “Sienna, I did not give you my promise.”

Sienna felt her stomach drop when she heard Jace’s cold and distant voice. Glancing at Jace’s expression, she could sense the seriousness of the situation. Sienna collected herself and kneeled down in front of Jace.

“You… You did not say no, so I thought that you’d agreed… I’m sorry Jace. Did I cause you a lot of trouble?”

Seeing as how Sienna was rather scared and timid, Jace’s gaze softened. “Just a little. It can be settled, but promise me you won’t interrupt my work anymore, okay?”

“I swear! There will be no next time!”

With an adorable expression on her face, Sienna made a three-fingered gesture of promise.

Jace’s eyes widened as he was suddenly reminded of Sage Luz and the time they had spent as newlyweds. She had wanted to bathe him, but he had admonished her instead. He remembered the gesture she had made as a sign of promise that she would not cross the line again. It was the same sign that Sienna now made.

‘Shit, why am I reminded of that woman again!’ Jace cursed at himself.
