A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 883: A Joke

Amidst the bustling crowd, Brendon was nibbling affectionately on her ear.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Ranita blushed with embarrassment and pushed his hand away. “Stop it, stop it, I won’t make fun of you anymore!”

“Just wait until we get home!” Brendon released her and continued battling the claw machine.

There was only one chance left.

“Brendon, you can do it!” Ranita saw his focused gaze on the claw machine and couldn’t bear to see him disappointed again. She stood on tiptoe and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. “You can definitely do it!”

Brendon, startled by the kiss, accidentally dropped the claw, which then accurately grabbed a sapphire toy ring. It wobbled to the drop point, triggering a cheerful tune.

“Wow! Brendon, you got it! You got it!” Ranita was more excited than Brendon. She jumped up and down before wrapping her arms around his neck, smiling from ear to ear. “You’re amazing!”

Brendon, now completely captivated by his beautiful wife, looked at her adoringly. “Amazing, right?”

“Incredibly amazing!” Ranita held Brendon’s hand and retrieved the toy ring from the machine’s slot, placing it in his palm. “Here!”

Brendon handed it to Ranita. “For you!”

“Thank you!” Although it was just a small toy, Ranita felt overjoyed, her heart nearly bursting with happiness.

“This is my first sapphire ring!” Ranita laughed as she linked her arm with Brendon’s. “It’s even better than the one you just got!”

They had wedding rings when they got married, but Brendon didn’t pay much attention to them, and Ranita didn’t dare to wear hers.

“As long as you like it!” Brendon squeezed her fingers. “In the future, we’ll buy a real sapphire.”

Ranita giggled but didn’t give a clear answer.

A bit later, Brendon went to contact the boss, who agreed to let him come in later for an explanation. But before that, he needed to take his wife and son home.

They arrived at Bowman’s Mansion entrance.

Brendon covered Ayaan’s eyes with one hand and wrapped his other arm around Ranita’s waist, leaning down to kiss her.

“Daddy, don’t cover my eyes…” Ayaan struggled to pry his father’s fingers apart before covering his own eyes.

He babbled, “Daddy, Mommy is shy!”

Ranita blushed deeply and lightly kicked Brendon, signaling him not to go too far.

“Let’s go home!” Brendon patted Ayaan’s head but kept his gaze fixed on Ranita, reluctant to part.

Ranita took Ayaan inside.

Unexpectedly, they encountered Benedict at the door. The middle-aged man looked at her sternly. “Ranita, come with me for a moment. I need to talk to you.”

In the study.

Benedict sighed. “Did you go out with Brendon tonight?”

“Yes,” Ranita replied softly, unable to meet Benedict’s eyes.

“You don’t need to be like this… He is Ayaan’s father; it’s normal for him to visit Ayaan! I’m not blaming you.” Benedict’s expression grew more serious. “Ranita, you’ve always been someone I could rely on, but in this matter with Ayaan, you have been thoughtless.”

“I’m sorry… Dad.” Ranita didn’t know what else to say. Marrying into Boulderland Mansion without considering the consequences was indeed her mistake.

“The past is the past. What I want to talk about is now. Brendon is part of the Stuart family. The Stuart family is large and influential, with complex relationships. Are you sure you want to get involved in this mess?”
