A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 906: Explanation

“Jedidiah, I’m in the neighborhood. I’ll be home soon,” Ranita said hoarsely. “I have something to do, I’ll call you later.”

Ranita hung up the phone and entered Brendon’s villa using the code.

As soon as she opened the door, Brendon, who was sitting on the sofa, jumped up in surprise. “Ranita? Why are you back?”

Seeing his nervous expression, Ranita felt a strange sensation rise within her.

“I want to go home. I don’t want to stay in the hospital anymore. Where’s Ayaan?” As soon as she asked, Ayaan ran down from the second floor and hugged her leg. “Mommy!”

Ranita looked pale and haggard from her illness.

“Mommy, I was unhappy when I woke up and couldn’t find you!” Ayaan said, pouting. “I just asked Daddy to take me to find you, but a bad auntie came…”

Bad auntie?

Ranita was about to ask when a sudden exclamation came from the bathroom. “Ah! Brendon… come quickly…”

The voice was unmistakably Shannon’s.

“What’s going on?” Ranita looked at Brendon. He was about to explain when Shannon came running out.

Her black hair was messily draped over her back, and she was wearing slippers. What infuriated Ranita the most was that Shannon was wearing one of her dresses!

Shannon was slightly taller than Ranita, so the dress that fit Ranita perfectly looked a bit short on Shannon, exposing her white thighs. Combined with the fine beads of sweat on her forehead and her slightly flushed cheeks, she looked as if she had been ‘bullied.’

“Brendon, there’s a spider!” Shannon clung fearfully to Brendon’s arm, looking up at him pitifully with her lips slightly parted.

Brendon instinctively stepped back a little.

“Brendon…” Shannon bit her lip and looked at Ranita with a grievance. “Ranita, weren’t you in the hospital? Why are you back?”

Her words sounded strange and misleading.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“Ranita, don’t misunderstand! Shannon accidentally spilled juice on her dress, so she…” Brendon frowned as he explained.

Ranita, already feeling dizzy and irritable, felt like a bomb had gone off inside her. She interrupted coldly, “No need to explain! I’m here to take Ayaan home.”

“Ayaan, let’s go!” Ranita pulled Ayaan towards the door.

Behind her, Shannon continued to explain pitifully, “Ranita, don’t blame Brendon. It’s my fault! I accidentally spilled juice on my dress and had to change into yours… I’m sorry…”

The more she listened, the angrier Ranita became.

Her heart felt sour and swollen, as if cut by a knife.

Alexia was right.

Even if they broke off their engagement, the Murphy family and the Stuart family couldn’t fall out completely. They would still have contact and remain friends… but Ranita couldn’t accept it.

She really didn’t like Shannon.

As long as Shannon was around, Ranita felt a strong sense of crisis, as if there was always a wall between her and Brendon.

“Ranita!” Brendon chased after her and grabbed her hand tightly. “Ranita, listen to me!”

Brendon was anxious. “There’s nothing between us! The juice spilled on her dress and left a stain, so…”

“I’m just that petty. I can’t stand seeing her wear my clothes, okay?” Ranita looked at Brendon coldly, her heart icy.

What she wanted wasn’t an explanation but his attitude.

Unfortunately…
