A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 911: Unexpected Encounter

“Shannon, I don’t want to say much more. I just hope you can keep the necessary distance,” Brendon’s voice was cold and sharp, making Shannon feel unsteady and unable to accept it.

“Brendon, haven’t I done enough for you? I have no other intentions… I don’t want to ruin things between you and Ranita… I really didn’t mean for this to happen today, it was all an accident,” Shannon pleaded pitifully, a tactic that always worked well. Even the famously cold-hearted Izaiah Murphy from the Murphy family fell for it.

She couldn’t believe Brendon would be so heartless.

Shannon cried miserably, her tears streaming down her small face, making her look pitiful and hard to blame.

“I’m leaving now! Since you don’t like it, Brendon, I won’t bother you anymore…” Shannon staggered towards the door but suddenly collapsed at the entrance.

“Shannon!”

She had fainted, and Brendon had no choice but to rush her to the hospital.

When Ranita woke up groggily, she felt heavy-headed and unwell. Ayaan was curled up beside her, asleep.

“Ayaan!” Ranita patted his shoulder. “Why are you sleeping here?”

Ayaan, still half-asleep, was holding his smartwatch.

“Mommy!” Ayaan’s cheeks and eyes were red and swollen, as if he had been crying. Ranita hugged him tenderly. “Ayaan, what’s wrong?”

“Daddy… bad… Daddy ignored Ayaan…” Ayaan mumbled before falling back asleep.

Ranita checked the smartwatch and found that Ayaan had called Brendon many times, but Brendon hadn’t answered.

She hesitated for a moment and then sent Brendon a message: “Ayaan tried to reach you. Call him back tomorrow.”

After sending the message, Ranita felt even more agitated.

Ranita barely slept for the rest of the night.

Her fever, which had subsided, flared up again. Jedidiah noticed something was wrong and immediately took her to the hospital, insisting she stay until she fully recovered.

“Jedidiah…” Ranita tried to explain, but her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes felt sore from the fever.

She weakly said, “I’m really fine! You took my temperature at home; it was just a low fever. Some medicine will do.”NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

Ranita felt exhausted.

“No way, this time you must listen! The doctor doesn’t agree to discharge you, so you’re not going home!” Jedidiah had chosen a private hospital with high prices but excellent conditions and service.

Ranita was about to speak when she saw a familiar figure entering the elevator.

“Ranita, is that Brendon?”

Jedidiah saw it too!

Ranita pressed her lips together. “I don’t know.”

Jedidiah frowned and grabbed Ranita’s wrist. “Come with me!” He was quite angry; his sister was sick, yet Brendon didn’t care and was wandering around here!

But by the time they reached the elevator, the doors had already closed.

It was still early, so the elevator went straight up to the ninth floor, where Ranita’s ward was located.

Jedidiah pressed the button for the adjacent elevator.

As soon as the doors opened, Ranita saw the man and woman standing outside.

Ranita froze, her fever-clouded mind aching even more.

“Ranita?”

“Ranita?”

The calls came simultaneously, but Ranita’s ears buzzed. Her feet felt like they were on cotton, light and unsteady. Fear washed over her like a wave; she felt dizzy and collapsed into Jedidiah’s arms.
