A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 916: Satisfaction

“It’s getting late, why don’t you stay for lunch?” Benedict invited Brendon.

From Ranita’s perspective, Benedict was an elder, so Brendon didn’t put on any airs and nodded, saying, “Thank you, Uncle.”

Benedict was quite pleased to be called ‘Uncle.’

“You’re welcome. I’ll have someone prepare it now. You can take Ayaan to play in your room for a while!” Benedict paused and then said to Ayaan, “Ayaan, show your dad around.”

Ayaan happily took Brendon by the hand and led him away.NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

Alexia, holding a teacup, walked over to Benedict and sat down beside him, clearly unhappy. “Why are you being so polite to him?”

“I’ve been holding back so hard; I wanted to chase him out with a broom!” Alexia grumbled through gritted teeth.

Benedict, who had a good temper and loved his wife dearly, didn’t blame Alexia. Instead, he patted her hand to comfort her. “Alexia, the kids are grown up now. Let them make some decisions on their own.”

“Haven’t I worried enough about you?”

Alexia laughed bitterly. “At our age, we’re still so tangled up! I not only worry about you but also about the kids. Look at Jedidiah and Chole; neither of them is getting married or dating. It’s driving me crazy.”

“Haha, then you should talk to Jedidiah and Chole. Stop picking on Ranita. She’s an adult now, not a child anymore. She’ll resent it if you keep this up.” Benedict paused and continued to comfort Alexia. “And you know Ranita seems fine on the surface but is quite thoughtful. Years ago, she moved her household registration without a word and didn’t come back for years… Now that she’s finally willing to come back, give her some space.”

Alexia felt quite upset by his words.

“How have I not given her space? Chole’s situation is something she’s fixated on. We’ve made it clear that we’ll always treat her like our own child, but she insists…”

Seeing that an argument was about to break out, Benedict quickly interrupted, “Alright, let’s not bring up the past.”

“Now that she’s home, just relax! Have the servants prepare lunch; he’ll stay for lunch.”

Alexia was immediately agitated. “What? You want him to stay for lunch? Benedict, are you trying to drive me mad?”

“Calm down! Keep your voice down!” Benedict held Alexia down. “Setting aside personal feelings, Brendon is the owner of Stuart’s Corp and has countless other businesses under his name. Many people try to get close to him but can’t. Just consider it a business engagement!”

“In business, making more friends is always good.”

Alexia wanted to argue but didn’t know how.

She didn’t understand business matters well, but as a wealthy lady, she occasionally attended social gatherings to maintain good relationships.

So Benedict was right.

“Fine, I’ll have someone prepare it,” Alexia gritted her teeth. “But I won’t cook myself!”

Ayaan led Brendon upstairs to his room. “Dad, this is my room. Do you want to read with me?”

Brendon patted his head. “Sure! But can you tell me where your mommy’s room is?”

Ayaan nodded eagerly. “I know, I know. Dad, follow me.”

Ayaan took Brendon’s hand and pushed open the door of the room opposite. “Dad, this is Mommy’s room!”

The room had a simple and elegant style but was clearly a girl’s room, with warm tones throughout.
