Chapter 79: I Won’t Leave Rex
The principal stepped on the stage and counted the graduation designs of the top graduates of the Design Academy from the beginning to the end. Then, he said, “Now let’s welcome Rex Gavyn, the biggest shareholder of our school, and his wife, Wendy, the first graduate design.”
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a round of applause from the audience. Sethur Kent stood below the stage with a reluctant expression on her face. This time, she hadn’t even made it into the top 100. She hadn’t expected that she would still lose to Wendy after finishing her project. Looking at the handsome Rex on the stage and then at Justin Brown beside her, she felt quite upset.
Rex held Wendy’s hand in a very gentlemanly manner. Wendy stood next to him, looking very beautiful and different from before.
Justin clenched his fists and said to Sethur Kent, “Look at Wendy. Look at you. You don’t look like the daughter of a wealthy family at all.”
Sethur glared at him, “Heh heh, Justin, you don’t have the right to say anything about me, do you? Aren’t we all the same? Aren’t you unhappy that you weren’t able to sleep with Wendy?”
“You!” Justin gritted his teeth, “Sethur, I was really mistaken back then!”
“Heh.” Sethur sneered. “Since you can’t stand it, let’s go our separate ways in the future. No one will stand in our way.”
“That’s what you said. Sethur, don’t regret it!”
“I will never regret it!”
Justin threw her a cold glance and left. When Sethur saw how cowardly Justin was, she became even angrier.
Wendy, you’re really something!
“Hello, everyone. I’m Rex. I came here today for no other reason than to give her a surprise at my wife’s graduation ceremony.”
After that, all kinds of photos of Wendy appeared on the big screen. The background music was moving. Wendy was so moved that she didn’t know what to say.
She covered her mouth and looked at Rex, only to see that he was approaching her with a bouquet of flowers in both hands. Then, he kissed her on the forehead and said in a voice that could only be heard by the two of them, “Wendy, thank you for marrying me.”
Wendy’s tears flowed freely. Her hands trembled as she took the flower. “When did you become so romantic?”
“I’m romantic to begin with,” Rex said with a smile.
“Shameless.”
“Mm. I think you understand this as well.”
In the end, the two of them left the stage under everyone’s blessings. Rex held Wendy’s hand and went to the backstage room. He hugged her from behind and said, “I originally wanted to give you a bigger surprise, but I was afraid that you would be scared.”
“What greater surprise?”
Rex thought for a moment and said, “I’ll tell you later. Now’s not the time.”
“Hmph.” Wendy pouted. “Stingy.”
Rex suddenly came up to her from behind, squatted down slowly, and put his ear over her belly like a child. His eyes were full of surprise. “He moved.”
Wendy rubbed his head and said, “How is that possible? It hasn’t even been three months yet.”
“Really? I’m not lying to you.”
“Alright, he’s moving.” Wendy looked at Rex with a smile, hoping that time would stop and that she would be able to take a better look at him that day.
One wave had calmed, and the other had risen.
Cassie used the excuse of visiting her son as an excuse to stay at Rex’s house. In fact, Wendy knew very well that she was just here to supervise her. She wanted to give birth as soon as possible and then find an excuse to chase her away.
Wendy knew all this better than anyone else, so she didn’t take it to heart when she compared herself to Rosaria. She just wanted to say something back from time to time.
“Mom, if you think that I can’t compare to Rosaria, then why didn’t Rex choose Rosaria? Could it be that your son’s eyesight really isn’t good?”
Seeing that Cassie was so angry that she couldn’t speak, Wendy felt inexplicably happy in her heart. As long as she held on to her position, nothing could knock her down.
Since she had chosen Rex, she would not yield to anyone, including Cassie.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“Wendy, I’ll give you five million. Leave Rex.”
“Quite funny.”
Using money to suppress her? She had really underestimated me.
Wendy pushed the money back to Cassie and said, “Mom, some things can’t be bought with money. If someone paid you to leave Rex alone, would you leave him alone? Of course not, because you love him. Similarly, I love him too. No matter how much money you spend, I won’t leave him.”
Cassie gritted her teeth. “Wendy, what do you want? Are you only willing to destroy the Gavyn Family?”
Wendy said, “I don’t want anything but to be with Rex.”
“In your dreams!” Cassie said, “As long as I am here, I will never admit you.”
“Then what should I do? I won’t leave.” After saying that, Wendy was about to get up and leave. However, Cassie grabbed her hair and slapped her hard on the ground. “Wendy, don’t try to pressure me. I’ve passed by more than you’ve ever eaten salt. Don’t pretend in front of me. I’ve seen too many uncultured women like you. Money can’t suppress you. Wendy, don’t joke.”
Wendy endured it again and again. She licked the blood on the corner of her mouth and propped herself up with her hands. “Mom, I said that no matter what, I won’t leave Rex.”
After that, Wendy limped into the room. As soon as she walked in, she collapsed to the ground and felt pain all over her body. She had to quickly cover the wound, otherwise, it would be difficult for her to explain when Rex came back.
Just as she was about to get the first-aid kit, her phone rang. She glanced at it and answered it in a hurry. “Mom.”
“Wendy, why haven’t you come to see me recently? A married daughter is really like a splash of water. I’m almost fully recovered now. I’ll be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.”
Wendy felt aggrieved, but she was also afraid that Kelly Scott would hear it. She bit her lip and said, “Mhm, Mom, I’ve been a little busy recently. When I’m free, I’ll go home and see you, okay?”
“Alright, listen to them properly over there, understand? After all, it’s not your home. Is Rex good to you?”
“Good, very good.” Wendy’s voice trembled slightly. She was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to hold back her tears, so she quickly said, “Mom, I’ll hang up first. I have something to attend to here.”
“Eh?”
Before Kelly could finish speaking, Wendy had hung up the phone.
Tears rolled down her cheeks in an instant. She hugged her aching body. “Mom, I miss you so much, I really miss you so much……”
