Before Alpha Kilian laid his eyes on Nelly, his mind had already formed a prejudiced perception. In his mind, he imagined that Nelly would carry his children and then seek vengeance upon him or disrupt his life. Little did he expect that she had chosen to abort their unborn twins instead.
He found her actions to be heartless and cruel, far exceeding the perceived despicableness of his own prior actions. An eye for an eye, her actions served as revenge, and her words couldn’t have been more accurate. Yet, he couldn’t understand why she had to exact her revenge on the innocent children.
Just the thought of the twins filled Alpha Kilian’s heart with overwhelming hatred for Nelly. He had never refused to be a good father; it was simply that she never gave him the opportunity to learn the truth.
In that moment, he placed the blame solely on Nelly’s shoulders, holding her accountable for the pain he felt.
Within the confines of the bar, Alpha Kilian drowned himself in drink, desperately attempting to find solace. But no matter how much he consumed, he couldn’t achieve the intoxication he sought. His mind was consumed by the image of Nelly’s resolute expression, her deliberate decision to abort their children purely for the sake of seeking revenge and severing all ties with him.
Nelly.
Six long years later, her name continued to haunt his heart, inflicting pain that refused to dissipate.
Alpha Kilian indulged in drink after drink, until the concerned waitress finally intervened. “Sir, you’ve had enough to drink!”
Casting her a scornful glance, he sneered, “What’s the matter? Am I not allowed to drown my sorrows in alcohol?”
“But you’ve already consumed so much…”
Annoyed by her interference, Alpha Kilian rose from his seat to leave. As he walked out, his phone slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.
“Sir, your phone!” the waitress exclaimed, picking it up and rushing after him. Despite her calls, Alpha Kilian remained oblivious to her presence and continued his march forward.
Coincidentally, the phone began to ring.
After a moment of contemplation, the waitress answered, “Hello?”
Lara, who was still working late at the office, grew cautious upon hearing a female voice on the other end of the line. “Who are you? Why do you have that phone?”
“Hello, I’m a waitress at Golden Street Bar. A drunk customer dropped his phone here when he left,” the waitress explained.
Furrowing her brows, Lara inquired, “Where is he?”
“He just walked out. I called out to him multiple times, but he didn’t stop,” the waitress replied.
“I see. Keep the phone safe for now. I’ll come pick it up from you shortly.”
“Of course.”
As the call ended, Lara grabbed her car keys and hastily left the office.
Twenty minutes later, she arrived at Golden Street Bar.
The moment her car came to a halt, she spotted Alpha Kilian standing by the curb.
Quickly exiting her vehicle, she rushed to his side just as he lost his balance. However, she managed to catch him before he hit the ground.
Turning towards her, he offered a self-deprecating smile. “Lara, why are you here?”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Why wasn’t I invited to join you for a drink?” she inquired, her tone soft and attentive.
“Why would I invite you? I simply felt like drinking alone,” Alpha Kilian responded.
“Where’s your phone?” she asked.
After searching his pockets, he failed to find it.
“Your phone is with the waitress. If I hadn’t called you, we wouldn’t have known you were here.”
Alpha Kilian smiled without a word.
“Get in the car first, I’ll go retrieve your phone.”
Without any resistance, Alpha Kilian allowed Lara to help him into the car. “Rest here. I’ll be back shortly.”
After closing the car door, she proceeded to retrieve the phone.
Lara handed the waitress a thousand and insisted on her accepting it, despite her refusal. “I don’t like owing favors to others, especially when it can be resolved with money.” With that, she walked away.
For some reason, she felt an overwhelming need to assert her dominance over any woman in Alpha Kilian’s life, regardless of who they were. It was as if that was the only way she could prove her importance in his eyes.
Throughout the years, it had become a habit of hers.
Furthermore, she was the only one who remained by his side through it all.
Returning to the car, she arrived with a cup of coffee in hand. Just as she was about to speak, she noticed Alpha Kilian lying in his seat, eyes closed. As she marveled at his distinguished features and chiseled jawline, she couldn’t help but feel that God had bestowed an unfair advantage upon him while creating him.
After all, Alpha Kilian’s handsome face alone had the power to captivate anyone who laid eyes on him.
Lara was no exception. From the moment she first glimpsed him, she knew he was the man of her dreams.
However, Alpha Kilian wasn’t someone easily won over. Even if one possessed similar status, they were nothing more than an ordinary person in his eyes.
As a result, she dedicated herself to her work, determined to be by Alpha Kilian’s side, to the point where he couldn’t function without her.
Finally, she achieved her goal of becoming indispensable to him in the workplace and the sole woman by his side.
But she desired more. She yearned to be his woman, his only one.
In a moment of impulse, Lara reached out to touch his face. But just as her hand neared, he shifted abruptly, causing her to snap back to reality.
“Nelly…”
Alpha Kilian’s gaze turned gradually frosty as he looked in her direction.
Lara’s idealistic fantasies shattered as soon as she heard him utter that name. Did he just call her that?
“Do you think that after all these years, you can hide your cruelty behind your growing beauty? Deep down, you’re nothing more than a heartless woman.” Alpha Kilian suddenly seized Lara by her shoulders, his words laced with threat. “Nelly, I will never let you off the hook. You owe me, and I won’t allow you to sever our connection. In fact, I will hold onto you for eternity!”
Clearly, he had mistaken Lara for Nelly.
Despite the pain searing through her shoulders, she refused to flinch, for it was nothing compared to the ache in her heart. Though she had no knowledge of their past, she had no doubt that Nelly held great significance in Alpha Kilian’s life, to the extent that her very existence fueled his intense hatred.
In all the years they had been together, Lara had never felt as anxious as she did in that moment.
A voice inside her urged her to overcome the obstacle named Nelly, warning that she would lose Alpha Kilian completely if she couldn’t. Yet, if she succeeded, she would become his for eternity.
Clutching her fist tightly, Lara watched as Alpha Kilian succumbed once again to the haze of intoxication.
“I don’t know what transpired between the two of you, but I will resolve this matter for you.” As the words left her lips, she stepped out of the car.
After a phone call outside, she returned to the driver’s seat. Glancing into the rearview mirror, she caught sight of Alpha Kilian, slumped in the backseat. Even in his drunken state, his charisma remained potent, capable of ensnaring anyone who beheld him.
After enduring so much over the years, this time would be no different.
With that thought in mind, Lara started the engine and drove away.
