(Avery’s Point Of View)

I heard a thud and turned towards the sound. Kayden just broke down the door. His eyes widened in shock when he saw my appearance.

“Avery-what happened?” His eyes scanning the messed up room.

I chuckled deviously. “Are you asking me?” I pointed the golf stick at him.

“You are still around? I thought you left for your pack.” I said in a mockery tone.

“Avery, how can I leave after what happened last night?” A remorseful look played on his face.

“You should have left because your face irritates me. But I am trying so much now to hate you because you are my mate.” I muttered in a stern tone.

“That’s a relief.” He mumbled.

I arched my eyebrows with a deep frown forming on my face. “A relief to you but a pain to me.”

“Listen Avery-” he started towards me.

“Don’t come close to me!” I stood defensively, holding on to the golf stick tightly. He stopped walking towards me.

“What have I done to deserve this treatment from my mate?! I never wanted one but you came into my life and all I ever did was love you!” I raised my voice.

“I love you too, Avery.” Kayden said.

I shook my head in disagreement. “No! We were doing just fine, Kayden. But what happened to us? You changed. Jealousy took over every part of you to the extent of accusing me of cheating.” I said in a tight whisper.

“Look Avery-”

I screamed out. “I have never been with any man my whole life except you! I was keeping myself just for my mate!” I stopped as tears flowed again.

“Last night was the worst day of my whole life. I.. I.. Opened up to Freddie that I have a man and all he did was wish me well. He.. He offered to see you to give an assurance that there was nothing going on between us! But what did you do? You beat him.. a mere human and you tried to kill him.” I sniffed.

“I was almost raped by my own mate and also got beaten up by him. Was it the alcohol or that’s he is? I can’t decipher. You know.. it was fine to hit me all you want but not Freddie. He was innocent. Only to wake up this morning -” I paused and bit on my lower lips.

“Only to wake up this morning to the news that Freddie is dead!” I screamed out.

Kayden was surprised. “Freddie.. oh Freddie car got hit by a truck. We killed him!” I cried out.

Kayden shook his head in disagreement. “We didn’t kill him. You just said it that he got hit by a truck.”

I nodded my head slowly. “Yeah.. but right after he left my home!” I snarled.

“We didn’t kill Freddie! We didn’t kill him so get that into your head!” Kayden yelled at me. And the remorseful look from earlier disappeared and was replaced with an angry look.

“How did you want me to believe that you didn’t have anything to do with Freddie even after seeing you in his arms?!” He pointed out.

“What?!” His words made me weak causing the golf stick to drop down to my side. I winced in pain.

It seemed like my mate still doesn’t believe me even after swearing to the moon goddess.

“You should have considered my feelings first when you were embracing him like you guys just had something together!” Kayden growled.

I heard a thud again, the golf stick just slipped from my hand to the ground.

“We weren’t naked.” I mumbled.

“It still doesn’t matter.” He gritted.

“Freddie received a call from his elder sister that his mom collapsed at work. He wanted to stay back until you return but I had to assure him that I was fine. I was worried about you.. I couldn’t do anything. And I only embraced him to comfort him and thank him to sticking around as a friend. We didn’t do anything!” I explained in a low tone.

“Well.. how do you expect me to know that?” Kayden spat.

I looked up at him. “You should have given me a chance to explain to you. Kayden, how did we get to this point? What else do you want me to do to make you believe that I never cheated on you?! I have sworn to the moon goddess! What else do you want?!” I walked towards him.

“You want me to give myself to you?! Fine! Come one! Sleep with me.. Kayden.. so you can believe that I never had anything to do with Freddie or anyone else!” I drew my gown up.

He tried to stop me but I jerked free. “Come on! You can fuck me all you want right here!” I pulled my night gown over my head and stood in front of him in only panties.

I grabbed one of his hand in an attempt to place it on my chest but he pulled away from me.

“I am done begging you to believe me! If this isn’t going to work out then reject me as your mate and be with someone else!” I turned away from him and cried.

But Kayden grabbed my wrist and swirled me around to him. “What did you just say?” He gritted his teeth in anger.

I jerked free aggressively. “You can go ahead and hit me again! Come on.. hit me again!” I pushed at his solid chest. “Reject me as your mate to be with someone else! I made an attempt to leave the room but he caught up with me, blocked my pathway and pulled me into his chest.

“No.. no.. you can’t.. be done with me.” He said.

I struggled to get out of the embrace but he held on to me.

“I believe you! I believe you! You didn’t cheat on me! I am the problem in this relationship… whatever! I am sorry! Avery please.. I can’t live without you! I need you as my mate! You have to be by my aside.” He said into my ears but it seemed like my ears weren’t hearing clearly.

“Avery, I am sorry. I won’t-” the rest of his words faded in my ears and all I could feel was my heartbeat, my wolf beat connecting to his wolf’s heartbeat to strengthen my weak and numb body but it wasn’t working.

Our souls were far apart and I concluded that it must be because we aren’t on good terms at the moment. And the last thing I heard was the faint sounds of my mate calling out my name before I went still in his arms.
