Celine’s POV :

“I am your daughter and you’re my mother. You have suffered enough now. ” I said, hugging her back.

Aunt planted a kiss on my forehead, ” You shouldn’t wait any longer. I want to see you as the crowned Queen of the kingdom. ”

I took a deep breath, shaking my head at her emotional request again. I could not explain to her or to anyone what I felt inside knowing that I still could not find about my mother and uncle. Wearing and accepting the throne would only make me more depressed.

Aunt closed her eyes and covered her face with palms. I could see her beginning to get a little angry at me now. She must be frustrated by my constant wish to go deep down the secrets which were held from me.

“Celine,… ”

I interrupted, ” At least let me know about the skeleton in the dungeon. It looked like that it had been there for ages and it also had a huge red ring. I have already sent the ring to the Royal elders so that they can verify about the details of the dead person. ”

Moments passed before she spoke again because the shock of something got to her. She looked not only angry but confused now.

” Why are you getting yourself in this mess? Did you ask me before dragging the elders into this too? ”

Her voice was raised, almost screaming at me and I felt lost as to why would something so small anger her to this extent?

“Please calm down, Aunt Emerald. ” I touched her arms.

“No! I have been trying to protect you so that you don’t follow the same leads as your mother but you have been betraying me by not telling me the full truth all the time. ”

I shook my head, ” I will never betray you. I am extremely sorry because I did not know that you will be so hurt. ”

The cold breeze made it’s way into the chamber and I felt the hair on my skin had raised from the cold. And also from the way my aunt was looking at me now. But then the yellow and red in her eyes changed and she let out a muffled cry.

“Oh, Celine… I am sorry. I just want to protect you. I don’t trust anyone in this pack. Not even the elders. They never helped us when we needed them most. ”

I tried to calm her down because she had begun to hyperventilate and her hands had turned cold.

“No one is going to hurt me Or you. It’s over now. The pain has ended. You need to forget about the bad times, Aunt. ”

I helped her to settle down on the bed and gave her a glass of water. She gulped down the water in one long sip and her breathing had turned normal again. She could finally act normal without having an anxiety attack.

“I want you to tell me everything from now on. Everything. Is there something you haven’t told me yet? Please don’t do the same mistakes like your mother. ”

I touched her hands, with a assuring squeeze, I kissed the back of her hand.

“Nothing. I haven’t kept any secrets from you. But where’s katie? The kitten… She’s a hybrid. I haven’t seen her for so long now. ”

I said it aloud, telling her and making myself aware of the sudden absence of Katie too. I knew that she was a wild spirit and she didn’t want to be included in the Pack house. But I had to bring her back and give her a safe place, something which she deserved.

“What are you talking about? A kitten? ” She asked.

“Yes, aunt. She was in the pack house in Alpha Tyrion’s old Luna chambers. She had somehow followed me here too. She’s young. Around 16-17.”

“But then why’s she a kitten? ” Aunt asked again.

“That’s the side effect of the hybrid blood on her. She had been living her life in the ruins…. ”

“Enough of that. You don’t need to focus on these trivial matters. As the Queen, you need to choose people whom you trust and the ones who hold authority. The hybrids or the orphans should not be your concern. ”

I clenched my jaw but decided to say nothing to her because the she was thinking diplomatically where as I had my emotional connection with the girl. I knew she wasn’t this young given I was 18 and a half years old myself. But something about her innocence made me feel that she was a kid.

” I will keep that in mind. ” I said.

“Alright. I need to make lots of arrangement and also bring back the orders which my father had dictated for the pack. You should get some rest. ”

I saw her walking out and as soon as the door closed behind her, I exhaled the longest breath I could ever hold.

‘That was strange. I mean I feel something has changed inside her and she has been giving me not so good Vibes. ‘ Belinay grunted.

‘ It must be because of Calle. Don’t you think that this big decision might have taken lots of courage from her? ‘

‘And that’s it? Is it the end? If it was so easy then why didn’t she already put him back to his place.’

‘She told me that she was waiting for me. ‘

‘Would you live with a man who had killed your father, mother, sister and wants to take your niece as his mate? Then why did she live with for so long? She even claimed that she loved him… When did she love him? After he had murdered the Royal members? What’s she hiding? Belinay had caused the wave of questions to erupt inside my head. And everything she said was right. There was supposed to be some doubt given the way Aunt had been reacting after Calle was thrown into the dungeon.

A knock on the door grabbed my attention and I quickly walked to open it.

“I hope we didn’t disturb you… ‘ The elder said.

‘No, of course not. I have been waiting for you. ‘

There was a slight frown on their foreheads as they looked at each other.

” This ring belonged to your Grandmother. She died after being left there for days to starve. ”

My hands curled up into fists and I wanted to throw up because the pain the was almost unbearable now. My Grandmother? She died such a painful death.

“Can I get the ring? ”

They gave me the ring back and I touched it with my thumb as I placed a kiss on it.

“Is Calle secured inside the dungeon in the woods? ” I asked.

“We hope so. But the thing is we don’t know about the dungeon and it’s not even mentioned in the pack house’s map. Maybe it was built later by Queen Emerald. ”

Belinay growled with frustration inside my chest. I could understand her frustration. Why was everything so confusing?

“Thank you for your help. I will go and check the place along with Alpha Tyrion. ”

They smiled and nodded their heads, ” We just want to warn you that there are more traps ahead. But we know that you will win over everyone. You’re the Queen of Lunas. “
