Alpha’s Regret Pregnant Rejected Luna

Chapter 43

Chapter 43

Ethan sat bent over his desk in his study. He’d d dinner that night and had spent hours researching

Daisy’s health condition. The truth of it saddened him; even with an

expert, Chapter

it would still be risky. For now, there was nothing else he could do but wait until the next day and get Dr.

Gomez on board to work with him. The sooner Daisy could recover and leave, the better. She hated

hospitals.

“You’re doing it again, his mind scolded him. Getting involved and getting wrapped up in this. Helping

his ex-wife wasn’t a big deal. Besides, with what her father did for his, it would only make sense that he

step in to help. Yes, that explains it. He reasoned within himself. He couldn’t quite place the reason why

he was so bothered and concerned about Hazel’s kids, but that had to be the reason. He knew their

mom anyway, and there was no way he’d let something bad happen to Hazel’s kids.

The door was flung open, and Bella walked in with a small smile. He looked up, returning her smile.

The study was dimly lit, the light from his open laptop casting a warm glow. Bella’s sweet smell wafted

to his nose.

“Hey, whatcha doing?” she inquired. “Just finishing up some work,” Ethan replied. “You seem really

busy. You came right in here the moment you returned from work. The s said you didn’t eat dinner as

well,” Bella commented. Ethan sighed. The feeling of hunger gnawed at his stomach.

“Are the maids still in?” he questioned. The and maids lived in a detached building from the main

mansion; they retired back there at night after work

“Yes, Monica’s still here.” “You know I think I’ll have a late dinner,” Ethan said, standing up. “Okay,”

Bella replied. “I’ll have the maids whip up something for you.” “Thanks. I’ll just have a cold shower first.”

Soon he sauntered out of the room.

Bella was about to follow him out of the study, but she glanced over at the laptop in curiosity. With the

conflicting emotions on Ethan’s face earlier, she could tell that he was busy with more than just work.

The laptop was still left open and turned on. She moved. closer to check; it looked like he was reading

a business contract or proposal. Still, upon closer examination, her suspicion was confirmed. Ethan

was not working. The page he was reading was filled with medical terminologies, things Ethan would

have no business with. It seemed he was checking and making research concerning a health situation.

The thesis was filled with words like congenital heart condition. But who? She wondered in puzzlement

Why on earth would Ethan want to find out the risk a heart disease entailed and the risks for the

surgery of something like that? It didn’t make any sense. She resolved to ask him questions about it

later.

Turning off the laptop she made her way out of the room.

Ethan headed back downstairs minutes later, his hair a little damp from the shower, clung to his head.

The dinner table had been laid, although it consisted of only one serving, which was his. He seated

down to have his dinner. Bella sat next to him, a glass of wine next to her.

“Would you like a glass? I could pour you one,” she offered.

A glass of that would do.

Okay She poured him a glass and then moved over to his seat, slightly running her fingers through his

shoulder, then made to massage his neck.

“You’re really stiff, she commented. “It’s fine.” Ethan replied with a grunt. He removed her hands,

holding them in his for a moment, then dropping them.

Just then Bella’s phone vibrated; the screen lit up with a notification. Ethan glanced at the phone and

made to pick it up. Bella reached for it first instead. Her face instantly paled as she stared at the

screen. “I need to go take this, she mumbled, walking out of the room. Ethan stared at her back as she

exited hurriedly. That was odd.

Jasmine hovered over her laptop, typing furiously, trying to complete the day’s work. The frustration

mounted as she couldn’t figure out the whereabouts of the man her boss needed to find. Her boss’s

urgent request had her on edge, biting her l*ps in concentration. Suddenly, her phone dinged with a

notification, and she shot up from her seat. “Finally,” she muttered breathing a sigh of relief.

She’d just got an information from one of the people she hired that Dr Gomez would be present at the

Houston Exhibition tomorrow evening.

“Houston Exhibition,” she mumbled to herself with a sigh. Getting into the exhibition wouldn’t be

difficult, but the challenge now was how to approach the clusive man. With Nathan out of the country,

she had to meet him herself. If she didn’t seize the opportunity at this event, she might lose track of him

completely and might never see him again. She sighed, cleared her things, and realized she was the

only one left at work, having worked overtime. Deciding to stop by a store near her house for some

grocery shopping, she bid the security man goodnight as she left.

“You worked overtime again today?” the man questioned.

“Yes, I did, she replied with a sigh, knowing she was going to receive an earful.

“And you left late yesterday as well didn’t you?” He quizzed further.

The boss already warned you about this, hasn’t he?” the old man asked in concern. C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

“Yes, yes. I know,” she said defeatedly. “It won’t happen again. Well, see you tomorrow.” With that, she

left.

Stepping out of the bus, she entered the store. Minutes later, she exited the store, heading to her

apartment with groceries in one hand and her handbag in the other. Walking slowly, an eerie feeling

crept upon her. Glancing back over her shoulder, she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was

trailing her. Trying to dismiss it, she walked a bit farther, then stopped, glancing back again. There was

no one there. Visibly shaking, she clenched her fingers, clutching the bag closer to her chest.

“Hello?” she called into the darkness. “There’s no one there, Jas; you’re just being paranoid,” she

scolded herself, determined to move on. Just as she took a step forward, she collided with a person,

her heart palpated with the sight in front of her, a sharp, frightened shrill escaped her l*ps.
