Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 74

Chapter 74

Rachel followed the man in black to the front of the car. Eddie, who was in the front passenger seat, said respectfully, “Miss Grey, please.”

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly, bent down, and got into the car. She then pretended to be surprised and said, “What a coincidence. I didn’t expect to meet you here.”

She gave David a sickly smile.

David looked at the subtle coldness in Rachel’s eyes and his thin lips curved up. “Ms. Grey, haven’t you known about it?”

“Stellar Corporation,” Rachel said coldly.

She was not surprised that David was Stellar Corporation’s CEO.

However, she had a feeling that David had multiple identities.

David’s eyes met hers and a hint of affection flashed across his eyes. “Shall we have lunch together?”

“Sure,” Rachel answered without hesitation.

They didn’t have lunch at Lansen Restaurant. Instead, they went to Rachel’s favorite restaurant, Best Fry.

Best Fry was located in a courtyard in an alley. It had been a dilapidated courtyard house, but it was later developed into a private clubhouse with a quaint two–story building.

Pushing open the vermilion double doors of the courtyard, guests could see a pair of sky–blue porcelain jars. Lotuses floated on the water, and it could be vaguely seen that koi fish was playing under the lotus leaves.

After passing a white wall with shallows of flowers on it, guests were faced with a staircase that led straight to the private room on the second floor. At the foot of the stairs was a pond surrounded by artificial mountains and pavilions.

White smoke hung in the air above the water, making it a fairyland.

Green and white curtains hung around the pavilion, and guests could vaguely see a graceful woman in costume humming a tune with a folding fan.

Rachel followed David into the private room. Seeing the boss of Best Fly treat David particularly respectfully, Rachel understood something.

David should be the actual controller of Best Fly.

As the dishes were served, David helped Rachel to the food. He lifted his head and met Rachel’s gaze. “Would you like to come back to my grandma’s with me tonight?”

Rachel shook her head and answered, “I have other things to deal with later.”

David did not insist and said calmly, “I’ll send you there in a while.”

After lunch, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon.

Just as Rachel and David were about to leave, Rachel received a call from Old Mr. Smith. “Rachel, it’s me. You haven’t come to play chess with me for a few days.”

“I am fully occupied recently, so…”

Old Mr. Smith sighed and interrupted, “I know that Louis does not have the good luck to marry you. It’s my 80th birthday in a few days. Please attend the celebration. I am old now. All I want to do before my death is to see you again.”

Rachel had decided to return the bracelet that Old Mr. Smith had given her and make her exit.

However, now that Old Mr. Smith had called Rachel, she had no choice but to pay him a visit.

“Okay.”

“Then I’ll be waiting for you.”

After hanging up, Rachel walked to the door of Best Fly and waited for David.

At this moment, a few people made their way out of the private room on the first floor in twos and threes. The person in the lead was Louis. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

Seeing Rachel, Louis thought his eyes played tricks on him. When he approached Rachel and realized he was right, his face darkened. He turned to speak politely with Mr. Justin, “Mr. Justin, wait a second. I saw a friend of mine and want to greet her.”

Mr. Justin, who was dizzy from drinking, quickly waved his hand. “Then you go.”

Louis marched over to Rachel and grabbed her arm to pull her to the corner without warning. He then questioned Rachel with a sullen look, “Rachel Grey, why are you here!”

“Let go of me!” Rachel shook off Louis‘ hand and stared impassively at Louis. “It’s none of your business where I am!”

Louis gritted his teeth and growled, “Is it the place you can come whenever you want?”

Although Best Fry was called a high–class clubhouse, it was not a place where one could enter with money. In order to ensure the privacy of the guests, Best Fry only issued 100 VIP cards every year, and candidates must go through multiple screening tests.

It was not a place that a poor and powerless person like Rachel could enter!

Unless…

Louis‘ eyes narrowed slightly, and his handsome face seemed to be covered in a layer of ice. “Rachel Grey, I didn’t expect you to drift into prostitution for making money!”

Before Louis could finish his words, Rachel slapped his face hard.

Her eyes flickered with coldness, and her steely voice came, “Louis Smith, who are you? How dare you speak to me in such a rude

way?“
