Beverly

Chapter 26

Clyde Dante

I asked Beverly to come early because I need to give her back the damn car and the phone. It really irritates me when that car and that phone sit there in my house. I sat in the working room and looked at the clock anxiously.

Suddenly someone knocked on the door and I asked whoever that was to come in. I saw Beverly walking in and she looked at me with these unreadable blue green eyes. She sat right across me and I passed the car key and the new phone.

“I never ask you for this.”

“You don’t, I gave it to you. You keep complaining about your car and your phone again and again. I gave you all this to shut your mouth.” She said coldly and I was expecting that. I scoffed and looked at her disbelief.

“You fucking tell my grandma about everything and then left.”

“Clyde, there’s no difference between me leaving or not. You’ve been hanging out with Anna and ignoring me. You should be happy that I’m gone because you and Anna have more time for each other!” She bursted angrily. I realized that everything she said was right. “Congratulations to you and Anna but when we’re at work try to keep everything professional. You told me yesterday and I hope you can apply it too. Work is work… I worked my ass up to be here.”

“Why don’t you go back to your previous job? Did you trick Han or flirt with him until you get the job?” That came out cold from my mouth.

“So you want me to do my old job back? How about you try to make me fired so I can go back to my job back instead of being a real architect?” I was speechless, she’s good at talking.

“Take this.” I pushed the car key and the iPhone. She looked at it and sighed. She took it back and put it in her bag.

“Work is work and I will be professional… and I hope you will too.” She said and she looked at her watch.

“We still have 20 minutes before 10, I’ll see you later on at 10 with Sean.” She said as she got up from her seat. Well that went well. She walked out leaving me alone. I ran my hands through my hair completely frustrated.

What’s wrong with her?

My phone rang and it’s Anna. I picked it up right away.

“Hey baby, what are you doing?”

“Work. I’ll call you later.” I said.

“You’ve been like this since yesterday, you didn’t call me at all. Am I your girlfriend or what?” She asked in a pissed tone.

“Can you understand me? I just got into work and everything is hitting me…” I hissed and ended the call. I threw my phone to the table completely pissed.

I laughed at myself repeating what Beverly said. What’s her problem anyway? I sat there and closed my eyes.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to see Beverly again. I never even expected her to appear in my office looking so beautiful and just different. When I found out and she’s taking a project for Hastington… I was happy that at last she got work as an architect but somehow… I can’t express it.

Yesterday at the morning glory cafe, I was so happy to see her. She looked stunning in her work clothes, so neat and lovely. Her hair was pulled into a pony tail and it’s been a long time since I saw her like that. She still has her love for tuna but the fact the others know about it really annoys me. It annoys me more when someone knows her more than I know her. I didn’t know that she hates tomatoes. She gave it to Sean without any words and Sean ate it like it’s normal for them both.

I hate to see that Sean really cares about her when I’m there. He gave him his suit for her to cover her thighs and I didn’t even notice that. Again… when Vin asked her if he can give her phone number to a guy and then she said yes. Didn’t she get it? That the guy is interested with her. Is she still dumb? Wait! She’s not dumb. She’s a fucking professional for this kinds of job.

The most annoying thing is that she blocked my number. I called her at night but she ended and blocked my number right away. I told her to give me a data through message because to send a message she needs to unblock me.

This girl is so fucking annoying…

And then she came with an unreadable face and she really took away the car key and the iPhone. I took a really deep breath and ran my hands to my hair once again.

Vin walked into the room and not long after that Beverly and Sean entered. I already prepared the room for all of us to work. I put Beverly’s work desk besides mine so I can see her works.

“Let’s just start.” I said and they all walked to their work desk and began to draw. We already design the whole building but it’s time for us to design the inner part. Beverly and Sean are trying to make a design for the lobby when me and Vin are trying to make a design for the pool and the small park.

I kept glancing at her and I can say that her drawing is good and the fact that’s she kinda smart putting things in.

“Clyde… Clyde.” I turned to Vin and he asked me about something. I answered him and when I turned to Beverly. She’s currently talking to Sean about something. I walked to her and Sean.

“Is there a problem?”

“No.” She said coldly. I looked at her disbelief.

“Ungrateful.” I mumbled and then she turned to me coldly.

“I never ask you to help us… we’re working together here so we can finish it faster. I hope we can finish it faster because I hate to see your face.”
