Chapter eleven- Scary game
Myra’s POV
I tapped my feet uncontrollably against the hard marble floor, while I stormed angrily from the bed, to the wardrobe, and from the wardrobe back to the bed. Why is my husband bent on making life a living hell for me?
He even went as far as leaving the house without informing me or even letting me know of his whereabouts.
Why is he trying so much to push me out of his life?
“Sighs” The more I think about it, the more I feel goosebumps all over my body.
” What happened to the gentle and caring man that swore to protect and make me happy till eternity, I hate this kind of feeling of helplessness” Why can’t my marriage be like that of my parents, they were each other’s support system and they were transparent. Their love was inseparable”
I love my husband Damian so very much and he’s the first man in my life but I guess this is my fate to be tied down to a loveless marriage and a mean mother-in-law.
“Sighs” I went into the lavatory, I need to get a temporary therapy session.
I turned on the shower and let the warm water flow freely down my bare, tired body. I hope this helps!! I hope this would wash out all the helplessness or should I say regret that I feel right now. I had fantasized about him being so loving and caring, I had dreamt of cooking him, potato and hot chili soup his favorite. I had imagined massaging his weary body each day he gets back from work and cuddling him to bed. But those dreams had gone up in flames because I ended up getting married to a loveless mean Damian.
My marriage lacks communication and genuine emotions it feels so unreal
This should be a dream and I pray to snap out of this nightmare sooner than later or I would end up losing my mind.
Now here I am, in a marriage of convenience with a handsome, mean, and billionaire husband who only cares about his shares and sees marriage as a game.
I closed my eyes as the water poured freely on my skin, if only it could wash away the pain and tears that I feel right now. Yes, I am in so much pain right now. I am angry at life for playing such a scary game on me, I am angry at myself for not being able to save my parents from the cold hands of death. Maybe if I had saved their lives, life wouldn’t be this miserable.
I was still lost in my thoughts when I heard someone banging on the door
“Hey BFF! What are you doing inside?.. You have been in there almost forever, Sophia queried
“Sophy” l screamed happily ” she laughed and threatened me saying you better get the hell out of there or I will be forced to break open the door”
I chuckled and told her that she didn’t need to threaten me, that I was coming out already, I turned off the shower and wrapped my white fur towel around my breast region before stepping out from the lavatory. I unbolted the door and ran to give my best friend a big hug with the towel hanging loosely around my body, we have missed each other.
We let go of each other and Sophia looked sad and worried. Even though she tried to hide it by laughing and joking around, her eyes were saying a different thing. I didn’t hesitate to ask her about this issue, knowing she is not the type to be seen with a sad look. I smoothed her hair and held her shoulder staring at her
“Are you okay Sophy?” Have not seen her like this, is there anything wrong? Her teary eyes were the answer I needed to find out all is not well, I pulled her in for a hug
“I am sorry bestie, but what happened?”
She wiped frantically at her eyes “I lost my job” she said in a rushed whisper.
“What,” I asked in disbelief. There must be a misunderstanding somewhere
“I needed someone to talk to. I was hurt badly knowing how difficult it is for me to get a good job as an intern so I can afford to settle my bills” she wiped her tear-stained face.
I exhaled deeply, tears welling up in her eyes “Come here Bestie” I enveloped her in a bear hug, my hands caressing her back. This unlocked the barrier causing the torrents to flow nonstop. Her crying intensified and she clung tightly to my body, her head resting on my chest, her sobs raking through her fragile body frame.
I kissed her hair repeatedly trying unsuccessfully to comfort her ” Come on do not cry Sophy, please I hate to see you cry” I rubbed her back in a circular motion. she held on tightly and cried for a while before she finally stopped. Time passed by fleetingly and all the while I didn’t complain or hasten her nor did I stop clasping or stroking her back all through.
I cleared my voice saying “I will find you something and you wouldn’t have to deal with any of this anymore I promise you” I smiled at her reassuringly.
She returned the smile. Sophia is a cheerful human, with the way she lets go of things will amaze you.
The rumbling of her tummy made me laugh and I told her that I will be treating her to a lunch date in one of the fancy bistros since I’m indulging her on a mollycoddle day. Her eyes widened at the mention of food, Sophia has always been a foodie no matter what she’s dealing with at the moment, food always seems to pacify her.
“I’m not in the mood to go out, you can ask the chef to prepare anything available Sophia uttered
Noticing that she is still not cheerful, I stared at her with a smile saying I need to make you feel better, best friend.
” I think I already feel better talking to you my bestie and since you decided to treat me to a memorable lunch date I won’t turn down the offer” we both giggled, I knew she won’t be able to resist the offer.
I wore a free monochrome dress and white puma sneakers to fit and we went to see Aria before leaving the house, also instructed her nanny to call immediately if there was an emergency, we got into the car, and drove off to the restaurant.
We got to the restaurant, parked and got down, and walked down to the foyer. We halted and scanned the building. It seemed pretty fancy and classy. We got in and chose a spot close to the window so we could watch passersby and the busy street.
We picked up the menu on the table and placed our order of burgers and fries with two bottles of chilled coke. The waiter took down our orders and left. while waiting for the waiter to serve our grubs.
I saw a jet-black Rolls Royce Phantom car stopover not too far from the restaurant and Meghan alighted and blew kisses to the owner of the vehicle before he drove off at high speed. Then she flagged down a cab and got in and they drove off, I stared at the blurry site of the cab in awe.
“Are you okay?” Sophia asked while slightly drumming on the table to get my attention.
I nodded my head and smiled to assure her that I am okay.
“I don’t think so Myra, you look as if you just saw a ghost and you also seemed lost for a moment” she insistedThis is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“I…um…I am sorry dear just thought I saw something but not sure
Just then our order arrived and Sophia immediately shifted her attention to the food, she took a bite… “Mmm, she closed her eyes as she relished the taste, this is so delicious”.
I kept staring out the window pondering
“Could I be dreaming, was it not my husband’s car, how can he be connected with Meghan????
My eyes must be playing a trick on me.
