Chapter 22
Chapter 22
After leaving Olivia’s place, Amelia was left in a trance, and in the end, she could not help but make a call to her younger sister, Maddie.
After listening to her sister’s foolishness, Maddie was speechless. “There isn’t even an indication at all. Why did you ask her about that? It is possible that Olivia may start to have feelings for Ethan now that you told her that.”
“Then what should I do?” Amelia was getting nervous. She still
remembered Emma, who held on to the corner of Ethan’s coat even when she was unconscious in the hospital.
Since childhood, Emma liked Ethan, and it had been going on for more than ten years. Initially, it was a surefire that the two of them would get married, but then Olivia suddenly showed up.
At yesterday’s dinner party, Ethan looked at Olivia in an unbearable way, even to Amelia, let alone Emma.
Those eyes were clearly the precursor of a man’s feelings for a woman. If it weren’t for Ethan’s apparent signs and Emma’s passing out because of it, Amelia would not have had to go straight to Olivia and tell her not to get involved in their relationship.
“Amelia.” Maddie interrupted Amelia. “Let’s put this aside for a moment. There is a matter on my side that I need to ask you about.”
Hearing the sudden seriousness coming from her sister’s tone, Amelia became nervous. “What happened?”
“Amelia, you must tell me the truth.” Maddie’s tone had a bad vibe, and she even sounded a bit impulsive. “Did you have a meal with my husband half a month ago?”
“Yes.” Amelia nodded. They stumbled across each other, so they ended up having lunch together.
“Amelia, we all need to have a sense of boundaries. Why are you trying to steal your little sister’s husband?”
“What are you talking about? Where is all this nonsense coming from?” Amelia was anxious and angry, as if she could not wait to beat up the person on the other end of the phone. “How can you think of me like this? I am your sister.”
She began to breathe excessively, and her eyes were red with anger.

“You are right.” Maddie’s voice remained sarcastic. “Olivia is also your own daughter. Amelia. Do not do unto others what others don’t do unto you. What you are feeling right now is what Olivia is feeling. It can even be said that your actions crossed the line more because Olivia did nothing!”
Amelia’s heart sank as she immediately understood what her sister
meant.
She stuttered, “I–I did not mean to do it.”
“Of course, you did not mean it.” Maddie’s words were sharp and hit the nail on the head. “It’s because you care too much about Emma, so much so that you will not hesitate to kill the source of her pain even if there isn’t the slightest sign of it. All you have in your mind is Emma, which leaves no space for Olivia at all. You instinctively think about Emma every time and completely ignore Olivia’s feelings.
“Do you know that doing so is more disheartening than doing it on purpose?”
There was a long silence before Amelia’s bitter tone was heard again. “I–I did not do it on purpose. I just forgot about it.” She had forgotten to take Olivia’s feelings into consideration.
“Sigh.” Maddie sighed. “You don’t need to be sad about it. If you want to blame someone, blame it on Samuel. He is the one who lost the child. There’s no way you can make up the 18 years that were lost.”
“I crossed the line.” Amelia explained, “But I just hope Olivia can calm her mind. After 18 years of living in exile outside the family, it is hard for her not to be jealous of Emma, who enjoyed parental love in her place.”
“That’s true, too.” Maddie nodded. “But that is human nature. I don’t think anyone would be calm about it. After all, everything that Emma has belonged to Olivia, including Ethan.”
“You can make up for the material things, but you can’t with
relationships,” Amelia quickly added. “Ethan actually has feelings for Emma.”
“Huh.” Maddie chuckled sarcastically. “That is what you think. Don’t mind the harsh words, but to be honest, Olivia is still the child of the Taylor and Green family, no matter what. Because of that, her genes are excellent, whether it be her looks or intelligence. She destroys Emma in every department. Even in terms of temperament that needs to be cultivated, Emma is still not as good as Olivia.”

“What are you talking about?” Amelia was not pleased with her words. “What’s bad about Emma? In the elite circle, Emma is one of the best. She is so good at playing the piano alone and even had a solo recital.” “How do you know that Olivia doesn’t play the piano too?”
Amelia was left dumbfounded when listening to her because it sounded familiar as if she had heard about it elsewhere.
A while later, she finally remembered that Olivia mentioned it to her before.
Amelia remained silent for a moment before repeating Olivia’s last words to her to Maddie.
Amelia wanted to express that Olivia had an impulsive personality and loved to talk back to people, but Maddic heard a different meaning entirely. “Don’t think too lowly of Olivia. You should have a good talk with her and ask around. Maybe her adoptive parents come from a good background.”
“What adoptive parents?” Amelia frowned. She heard from Liam before that Olivia was adopted by an old man surnamed Smith. Other than Olivia herself, the old man also adopted two other children.
The old man was said to be a doctor, and his family background was not too bad, but it wasn’t that good either. At most, it could be considered a middle–class family, which was incomparable to the Taylor family.
“I see.” Listening to Amelia’s words, Maddie nodded and advised her. “You shouldn’t embarrass your daughter. Even if the Smith family is in a bad financial situation, you shouldn’t expose it to her. I have heard that young girls her age have the strongest self–esteem.”
“Yes, yes, yes. You are right.” Amelia finally felt understood.
This was Amelia’s initial intention. There was no malice or mockery at all in those words she said to Olivia before. She was just worried she would go off the rails and do something radical.
It was a fact that Emma had been the daughter of a wealthy family for decades. Her knowledge, temperament, and mannerisms were already embedded in her bones. No matter how unhappy or jealous Olivia was, she could not take that away from her. At most, Amelia could give her some money to make up to her.
Amelia felt she was being a kind mother, but sadly, no one could understand her. “I am really afraid that my two children can’t get along well.” She cited an example. “Let’s use their clothes as an example. Emma

grew up wearing international brands and always goes out to socialize wearing high–fashion. Olivia must have felt uncomfortable seeing her like this. There is also jewelry. Emma has several hundred million dollars worth of jewelry with her. I don’t think Olivia even wears earrings when she goes out.”
The more she talked, the more heartbroken she felt. “There are all external factors. The main point is insight, such as knowledge of big brands and the appreciation of jewelry. Olivia doesn’t know anything about this, so she will certainly make a fool of herself in the future. Also, if she ends up fighting with Emma, the two will be on bad terms. When Olivia socializes later on, she will feel shy without Emma leading her, resulting in others laughing at her and the Taylor family. Do you know how many people are waiting to see us make a fool of ourselves?”
Maddie yawned. “It is useless to talk about this now. It won’t help anything. Why don’t you arrange a competent assistant to help her in the future?”
The war between noblewomen was no different from the deception of the business world. Every sentence and tone had different meanings to them. Olivia just returned to the family and did not know anything, so it would be easy for her to be deceived by others. It was best to find a person who knew what to do to follow her.
“I also want to find one for her, but I am afraid she doesn’t trust me.” Amelia felt enraged talking about it. If it weren’t for Abigail and Grace, there would not be a rift between Olivia and Emma for now. Because of the Abigail incident, Amelia was not in the position to appoint an assistant to Olivia.
Therefore, Maddie came up with an idea for her. “It’s simple. Ask William to find one for her.”
As soon as her eldest son was mentioned, Amelia’s eyes lit up.
