Chapter 30 Craze

"What did I promise you? Oh, I remember. I'm going back on it now!" Rejoyla, being not a saint, had no qualms about reneging on her word.

Jason pulled Rejoyla's hair with slight strength, eliciting a gasp from her. She lifted her head and shouted angrily, "Let go of me!"

"Rejoyla Lynn, who gave you the guts to play mind games with me? Oh, I see. It was Brady, wasn't it? You seem to think that I won't dare to do anything to you because you're associated with Brady. Well, go ahead and give it a try!"

Jason took his phone out of his pocket and glanced at Rejoyla coldly. "I'll call Archie right now and have him send the rescued women back to Baker."

"How dare you?"

Rejoyla lunged at Jason's phone, her anxiety evident in her sweat-covered brow. Being a scoundrel with a completely confused sense of right and wrong, Jason would really do this kind of thing. Thinking of Flora and Melody, Rejoyla couldn't help the tears in her eyes.

Unless Jason went easy on her, there was no way for Rejoyla to get his phone. She fell directly onto the carpet and looked up to find him towering over her with a distant expression. His long eyelashes curved upwards, giving him an inscrutable look in the light. However, Rejoyla felt the chill emanating from his pitch-black eyes. As she heard the sound of buttons being pressed, she threw caution and dignity to the wind and held Jason's thigh, rubbing against it.

"I'm sorry! I'm wrong! I promise that this won't happen again and I'll listen to you and do whatever you say. Please forgive me this time!"

"Rejoyla, do you think that I'll believe you? How many times have you broken your promises?"

"Well, just this once..."

"You just said that you would listen to me, but now you're retorting again. How can I trust you?"

Rejoyla silently rubbed Jason's thigh to show her submission.

Jason stepped back under Rejoyla's rubs, but she held on even more tightly, not letting him go.

"Let go!"

Rejoyla wanted to retort, but Jason had just accused her of being untrustworthy. She slowly knelt on the carpet and looked up at Jason with a plea in her eyes, hoping he would spare Flora and Melody from any trouble.

Jason bent over and lifted Rejoyla's chin with his index finger. As he stroked her skin, he felt her body trembling. He smiled chilly and spoke, "Now, let me ask you again. Does what happened on the yacht count as a real deal?"

"Yes," Rejoyla answered weakly. Her body softened with her spirit drained as if she could already envision her future as bleak and hopeless.

Although Jason was not that pleased with Rejoyla's response, he had got the answer he wanted. He didn't want to push her too far, in case she did something drastic. Therefore, he held her in his arms and made her face him, so that he could easily observe her expressions.

"What did Brady say to you?"

Rejoyla wasn't in the mood to answer Jason's question. She lowered her head and rolled her eyes, resting her forehead against Jason's chest without saying a word. Although she had made the

promise, she felt terribly fenced. For the first time in her hazy life, she had a goal: to become strong enough that Jason wouldn't dare to bully her again.

Jason pinched her slim waist and called out her name in a stern tone, "Rejoyla!"

"Are you intending to use Flora and Melody to threaten me again?"

Rejoyla pinched Jason's arm in retaliation for her pained waist. Couldn't she have a little temper? At this thought, she exerted all her strength to the pinch to vent her anger.

However, she didn't really dare to annoy Jason. With a pout, she said, "Mr. Nelson introduced me to a psychologist and asked me to see him tomorrow."

Compared with Jason, Brady was far more considerate.

Jason frowned; he didn't think about psychological consultation. After all, Rejoyla had experienced a similar thing before, and he didn't think this minor incident would cause her distress. Still, he couldn't be too sure, as there had been cases of people being re-traumatized. Even though he disliked Brady, he didn't oppose Brady's arrangement.

"Now that it's been well arranged, then do as he said. It's good for you."

Sensing the jealousy in Jason's words, Rejoyla pouted her lips. However, she was no longer secretly pleased about it because she knew he was angry about his belonging, rather than his beloved, being coveted. She was self-aware enough to understand this.

Sometimes, Rejoyla was so annoyed with Jason that she fantasized about him falling in love with her, only to be rejected by her. She relied on this unrealistic dream to cope with her sorrow, so that she wouldn't go insane. But a fantasy was a fantasy: she would remain a nobody and Jason would still love Louisa deeply. Even though Louisa was absent, the relationship between Jason and

Rejoyla would not become sweeter; it would remain one of command and obedience with no changes.

The cool sensation on her face brought Rejoyla back to reality. "What's this?"

"Don't move!" Jason held Rejoyla's chin with one hand while stroking her swollen cheek with the other, bringing a soothing chill. Rejoyla watched this man as he carefully tended to her wound. His lips were tightly pursed and his black eyes were focused intently on her as if she was the only person that mattered to him at this moment, a precious jewel in the palms of his hands.

Rejoyla's lips trembled, and suddenly, she hit Jason's chest like crazy. "Jason Sterling, you're a jerk, a bastard..."

Why did he keep treating her so well if he didn't like her? It was ensnaring her into this false love! Now that he loved another woman, why did he flirt with her? He was keeping her trapped in his tenderness, making it hard for her to move on. What a cruel man! Was it amusing to him to see her suffer? She hated him more than anything...

Jason gazed down at this crazy little woman and pressed his lips without explanation. When tears exhausted her, she leaned against his chest and fell asleep.

Rejoyla woke up hungry, clutching her stomach as she opened her eyes. She reached for the bedside lamp but missed, nearly tumbling off the bed. Fortunately, a hand grabbed her arm and prevented a potentially disfiguring accident. Who was behind her? Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Rejoyla whipped her head around, her body tensing up, only to see Jason's annoying face. Her thoughts raced as memories flooded her mind, sending her into a sour mood. After regaining her balance, she kicked Jason away and slowly climbed out of bed.

"What do you want to do?"

"Eat something!" Rejoyla was startled by her sore throat and felt like she was asking for trouble. Having cried until her throat was raw, she didn't receive any sympathy or support. What a pathetic woman!

Jason silently watched as Rejoyla headed for the door, holding her stomach. As she was about to leave, he spoke, "Bring some for me!"

Rejoyla stopped, turned around, and looked at Jason, "What do you want to eat?"

Jason frowned. "Anything!"

"Okay."

After Rejoyla went downstairs, Jason tossed and turned in bed and finally sat up. In the darkness, he hadn't seen Rejoyla's expression just now, but he could sense that something was amiss. While there had been nothing wrong with her behavior or voice, this, in and of itself, was the issue.

Given Rejoyla's temper, she should have found a way to maintain her pride. How could she be so obedient and do whatever he asked? This was just not logical.

Jason was so restless that he jumped out of bed and went down to observe her.

It was 2 am when the servants were off duty. Being just a guest, Rejoyla didn't want to bother anyone, afraid to be gossiped about.

She went to the kitchen in search of food, but the Sterlings had a "good" habit of not leaving any leftovers. What should she do now?

Rejoyla felt a sharp pain in her stomach, causing her to bend over. She clutched her belly and broke out in a cold sweat.

"What's wrong?" Jason hurried over to Rejoyla and held her in his arms. "Tell me where it hurts. Let me take you to see Dr. Auther!"

Had she been hurt on the ship? He should have taken her for a full-body check-up.

"No, it's a just stomachache due to hunger. I'll feel better after eating something." Rejoyla tugged at Jason's collar, stopping him from carrying her to see the doctor. It was not a big deal, after all.

"I remember you never had a problem with stomachaches before. It's not normal for a big eater like you to ache after skipping just two meals. Let Dr. Auther check you out."

Jason insisted.

"It's a problem I've developed in recent years. There was a time when I did an odd job in a clothing shop. I often missed meals, and eventually, I developed this problem where my stomach hurts when I'm very hungry. It'll be fine as long as I eat something. Put me down."

Jason looked down at Rejoyla. "Didn't I give you a lot of money? Was it necessary for you to work for a living?"
