Louis gently tucked a strand of hair that had fallen out of Blanche's mask. Blanche felt a tickling sensation on her scalp as if it had been scratched by a feather and shuddered. Then she pushed him away with great strength and ran away from the balcony.
After running for a while, Blanche stopped and looked around the hall filled with people in gorgeous clothing.
She wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt like everyone was looking at her and whispering about her, saying things like, "Humph, did you see that? Her husband got someone else pregnant. She's such a joke."
"She's so pitiful. Her husband betrays her, ha-ha."
Blanche felt like she was possessed. Eric approached her again.
"Blanche."
Blanche didn't respond.
Eric was confused and waved a finger in front of her eyes.
"Blanche, are you hungry? Do you want to go to the lounge and eat something? There's no one there."
"Oh, I'm not hungry."
Blanche snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head. She was feeling frustrated and not hungry at all.
She walked over to a nearby sofa and sat down lifelessly, her gaze fixed on the woman from the balcony just now.
At the moment, the woman was talking to a man, still wearing her eight-centimeter high heels. She sacrificed a lot to look beautiful.
But as soon as she finished talking to the man, she suddenly felt uncomfortable and clutched her belly, her face twisted in pain.
A nearby waiter walked by, and she instinctively reached out to take a glass of wine from the tray, but she withdrew her hand when she noticed that those were all red wine.
Blanche crossed her arms and felt that the woman looked pitiful. After a brief internal struggle, she took the hot milk from beside her and handed it to Eric, gesturing in a direction.
"Go give it to her."
Eric was puzzled, wondering why Blanche was giving milk to that woman.
"Is she a friend of yours, Blanche?"
Blanche shook her head. If she were a friend, Blanche would have gone over to help her immediately.
"I don't know her. Give it to her first. She's pregnant and doesn't seem well. She'll feel better after drinking the warm milk."
Eric still didn't quite understand, but he followed Blanche's words and brought the milk over.
Eric handed the milk to the woman, who looked surprised and took it. She opened her mouth and said something to him. Then she turned around and looked at Blanche. Holding the milk, she was at
a loss.
Blanche avoided her gaze. Perhaps that woman was Louis's true love, but due to identity reasons, she was unable to marry into the Herbart family. Fortunately, she was not a crazy woman who came up to fight her.
Eric came back after sending the milk.
"Blanche, she's gotten the milk. Now can you tell me why you sent her the milk?"
"She's carrying your nephew. As the baby's uncle, you should care about her."
Hearing that, Eric was shocked and almost jumped up.
"Blanche, stop kidding. How could the baby in her belly be my nephew?"
Blanche glanced at Eric's surprised face blandly and felt that he was still acting. She didn't believe that the Herbart family members didn't know about the woman's relationship with Louis since the woman had come to attend the party pregnant.
"Alright, stop acting. I already know. She's your brother's mistress, and your brother is the father of the child in her belly. When the child is born, he'll be your nephew, won't he?"
Eric opened his mouth wide when he heard that. Blanche's words were truly shocking.
"What are you talking about? Who did you hear that from? Louis is not the baby's father. Her name is Hayley Longman, and she's the wife of Louis's friend, Charlie Hand. The Hand family used to be famous, but they went bankrupt four months ago, and Charlie went to jail. He asked Louis to take care of his wife and child. If you spread rumors like this, Charlie will be furious when he finds out in jail."
What?
Blanche was stunned.
"Is that so? She's the wife of Louis's friend."
"Of course, Charlie has been Louis's best friend since childhood. Louis has many shortcomings, but he never messes around. Hayley got pregnant before Charlie went to jail."
After hearing this, Blanche felt like her brain was malfunctioning.
She secretly glanced over at Louis, who was walking out of the balcony. He seemed to have a sixth sense and looked over at her, even flashing a deceitful smile.
Blanche instantly realized how foolish she had been. She had been tricked by Louis.
