Capture Her Heart After Marriage

Chapter 50 Discharged from Hospital

Chapter 50 Discharged from Hospital

Aunt Song turned back to Alexia and smiled. However, when she turned back to look at Chaim, her face sank again. It was obvious that she was angry with Chaim. It was also the first time Chaim had seen Aunt Song angry at him, and it stunned him coldly for a moment.

"Mr. Lancaster, as a servant of the Lancaster family, there are some things I shouldn't say. However, after recent events, I just can't help it." Aunt Song crossed both her arms.

Chaim pursed his lips. "Okay, then what do you want to say?"

"Ms. Alexia is your wife, isn't she?" Aunt Song asked.

Chaim gave Alexia a look. "What are you saying?"

Alexia raised an eyebrow. ‘Did he answer or not answer?’

"Since Alexia is your wife, Mr. Lancaster, that means you should treat her as such. But, Mr. Lancaster, have you ever treated Ms. Alexia as your wife?" Aunt Song pointed at Alexia.

Chaim's face sank. "When did I not treat her as my wife?"

"Have you?" Aunt Song asked. "Mr. Lancaster, ask yourself, in your heart. Is your wife really your wife? What kind of wife is sick in hospital and her husband doesn't stay around to take care of her, but goes to take care of another woman?"

Hearing Aunt Song’s words, Alexia suddenly lowered her head, trying to ignore the sense of aggravation surge in her heart.

Aunt Song continued unabashedly. "I know Mr. Lancaster can't let go of Ms. Chi, but you're married now. Ms. Alexia is the person you'll spend the rest of your life with. Ms. Chi should be in the past, yet you and Ms. Chi are still together now. Is this normal? Should it be?

"Aunt Song, you're out of line!" Chaim's cheeks puffed up, and his voice was as cold as ice. "There are things I know what to do and what not to do. It’s not your turn to lecture me!"

"Mr. Lancaster, I'm not lecturing you, I'm just giving you another reminder on how to be a husband." Aunt Song sighed.

Alexia saw Chaim's face turning red, and she reached out and pulled Aunt Song's sleeve. "Aunt Song, please don't say anything."

"Ms.—"

"I'm fine." Alexia smiled at her, but deep in her smile was a sadness that wouldn't subside.

If Chaim really knew what to do and what not to do, then he wouldn't have been so close to Evelyn. He would’ve stayed away a long time ago. Everyone could see he was wrong, but he was the only one who felt he was right. Because he loved Evelyn, he didn't think there was any problem in treating her the way he was.

Thinking of this, Alexia smiled to herself. "Chaim, you go back upstairs, I'm a bit tired, I want to sleep for a while, so I won't accompany you." Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Back?" Chaim wrinkled his eyebrows in displeasure. “Alexia, explain to me, what do you mean by ‘go back’?"

Alexia stared up at him, not sure how to respond.

And under such a gaze, Chaim was irritated out of nowhere.

"Aunt Song, leave us!" He waved his hand to shoo her away.

Aunt Song could see that something wasn’t quite right between the two of them and wisely went out. Then, Alexia and Chaim were the only two people left in the ward.

Chaim stepped forward and repeated the question he had just asked. “Alexia, tell me, why did you use the word back?"

"It's no big deal. I heard you say earlier that you came from Ms. Chi's place, so I know you came to the hospital to see her. if you don't go back, she will be looking for you," Alexia said with a smile, trying to make herself look less concerned.

But, as her smile fell on Chaim's eyes, it was extraordinarily harsh, and inexplicably made him dislike it.

"You want me to go to her that badly?" He stared hard into her eyes, his face cold and mixed with faint anger.

Alexia didn't understand what he was angry about and didn't think much of it. For her, anyway, his occasional anger was something she had gotten used to.

"It's not that I want you to go to her, but you simply don't intend to stay with me all the time do you?" Alexia replied seriously, looking at Chaim’s handsome face.

In the past few days, he had mostly stayed at Evelyn's and had come to her place no more than a handful of times. And every time there was a breeze at Evelyn's place, he disappeared immediately. Like last night, for example, he was obviously so exhausted, but as soon as Evelyn woke up, he was gone immediately.

After listening to Alexia's words, Chaim's thin lips pursed and he didn't respond. She was right, he had no intention of staying with her all the time. It was Eve's place that reassured him, not Alexia’s.

"Go ahead Chaim, I've been having a battery of tests done for a few hours and now I'm dying to sleep." Alexia yawned and once again opened her mouth to let him go.

Although Chaim was a little upset, he pushed down that bit of displeasure in his heart when he saw that Alexia was now sitting in a wheelchair. Suddenly, he pulled his hand out of his trouser pocket, bent down, and picked up Alexia from the wheelchair in a horizontal embrace.

Alexia was stunned by his action, and it took her a while to react, her face turning red.

"What are you doing, Chaim? Put me down!" she shouted in shame and urgency, one hand in the air, not even knowing where to put it.

"Shut up!" Chaim growled lowly, not stopping, carrying her toward the hospital bed. "Put you down, can you go back to bed by yourself?"

Alexia's throat choked. She wouldn’t be able to. Although her leg was fine, she couldn't stand up on her own, let alone go back to bed.

Alexia shut her mouth meekly and stopped shouting for Chaim to put her down. Instead, she gathered the courage to wrap her arms around his neck and leaned into his arms without moving, but in her heart, she was secretly happy. It was the first time he had ever hugged her.

Chaim carefully placed Alexia on the hospital bed and covered her with the quilt, making sure she was comfortable before he gently opened his thin lips and said. "You can sleep, I'm leaving."

"Okay." Alexia blinked.

Chaim straightened his cuffs and turned to walk toward the door.

Alexia peeled back the covers and watched him leave until the door to the room closed behind him and he was completely out of sight, then she let go of the corner of the covers and smiled sadly to herself.

Even though he had been driven away by her, she was more than a little upset when he walked away without looking back.

But thinking about Chaim's gentle hug just now, Alexia felt like a princess and sweetness filled her heart again.

If her body would’ve allowed her to do so, she would’ve liked to roll around under the covers. How wonderful would life be if he could always be so gentle with her... With such absurd expectations, Alexia closed her eyes and gradually fell asleep.

A few days later.

Nathaniel put his stethoscope back around his neck and spread out the contents of a folder full of medical records with a brush. "Congratulations, sister, you can be discharged from the hospital."

"Really?" Alexia asked in surprise.

Seeing her so excited, Nathaniel somehow felt in an even more inexplicably good mood, the frivolous smile on his face was much milder. "Of course it's true! you can go through the discharge procedures now."

"Great!" Alexia stretched. "I've been lying stiff for the past few days, and now I can finally get out of the hospital."

"Ms. Alexia, I'll go and check in first then?" Aunt Song was happy for her when she saw how happy Alexia was.

"Thank you, Aunt Song." Alexia nodded.

After Aunt Song left, Alexia got off the hospital bed, dragged her suitcase from the corner, and started to pack her things for discharge.

Nathaniel leaned against the wall and looked at her. "Do you want to tell Chaim about your discharge from the hospital so he can come and pick you up?"

Alexia stopped packing suddenly. "Let's not."

"Why?"

"He's probably too busy with work these days. He hasn't even come to see me. And even if we ask him to come pick me up, he’ll probably still be busy."

Alexia put her head down and continued to pack her things, Nathaniel unable to see her expression.

Nathaniel rubbed his chin, and his eyes sank. "But how come I heard he's not busy lately? He comes to the hospital every day. Has he really not visited you once?"
