Chapter 102
Sydney woke up due to the loud ring of her rusty alarm clock. She sprang up as she was a little frightened.
“This bitch wouldn’t be the end of me.” She whimpered hitting the alarm clock hardly on the head.
It stopped ringing, and she yanked off the duvet from her lower body, climbing down the bed.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
She yawned widely and stretched out still feeling lazy.
“I still feel drowsy.” She grumbled rubbing her eyes with her two hands.
She searched for her phone in the drawer next to her bed, and then she saw it.
She switched it on and found out it was a Saturday.
Saturdays are always not too pleasant for Sydney because she would have to stay indoors throughout the day.
It would be a boring day.
But she didn’t have a choice, she had no money to take herself out and equally, she has no man in her life presently to take her out.
She switched on her wifi and her messages began to pop in.
Though they were few and that is because she isn’t the social type.
Then suddenly she saw a strange message pop up.
She stood under the shower, turning it open as she reached for her soap and sponge.
She began to think of the way she was going to act when she got there.
She scrubbed her body in haste and walked out of the bathroom.
She wiped off the water from her body with her towel.
She wrapped it around her waist and walked to her closet to look for an outfit.
She ran her fingers through her scanty clothes and her eyes fell upon an old red gown.
“I’ve got to go shopping for sure” Sydney muttered.
“Look at you baby.” She said to the gown with a huge smile on her face.
She picked out the dress and placed it on her body, walking to the front of the mirror.
She was good to go, and she walked out of her house feeling beautiful. As she walked down the hallway, her neighbours stared at her differently.
She looked exquisite.
Exquisite with her white tennis on Sydney just wanted the day to herself and having to go to the park looking that way she was happy.
She ignored their glares and kept walking till she got to the side of the road.
She waved down a taxi and the taxi stopped right in front of her.
“Where are you headed, Ma’am?” He asked.
“Golden City.” She responded and he nodded.
The golden city was just close to the park and she wanted some snacks so she could have a picnic by herself at the park.
“Hop in.” He told and she reached for the back door and opened it. She hopped in and he began to drive.

Jaxton sat in the living room and watched how people began to arrive for the interview.
They came in in twos and threes.
“We would be having a very large audience today. How are you going to interview all sir?” Ruby asked.
He was trying to have a new maid as the last one had tried to seduce him and he got mad at her.
“I already told you I have picked the person,” Jaxton said still staring outside the door at the people who were walking in.
“But she isn’t here yet, and it’s past 8 am,” Ruby said and Jaxton looked at her.
“I don’t care. You have no right to question me okay? We can start the interview, but when she comes, we interview her and then close everything for the day.” He explained and Ruby swallowed hard nodding.
“Yes sir. I would start giving numbers to them.” She said and Jaxton nodded.
His assistant was beginning to develop hatred for the person whom Jaxton had chosen, someone she was yet to see.
She hated the way, Jaxton gave her so much importance.
She walked out of the living room, and Jaxton checked his wristwatch to see it was 8:25 am.
“Where are you?” He mumbled to himself as he kept staring at the gate.
Soon, he heard Ruby call in the first participant. It was a male.
He wore a blue top and blue jean trousers. Immediately Jaxton saw him, he felt tired.
“Dismissed. I hate blue.” He said before the young man could speak up.
The young man walked out feeling so hurt. Ruby looked at Jaxton in disbelief but couldn’t say a word, or she would lose her job.
His separation from Sydney had caused him to be super grumpy and most times he said things that did not mean anything.
Ruby called the next number ‘2’ and a young woman walked in.
She had her hair tied in a ponytail.
She wore a very short gown that got Jaxton much angrier.
“Are you coming to work at my mansion or do you have plans of turning it into a strip club?” he asked bitterly.
“No sir…” she began but he cut her short.
“leave” he barked and she left.
The next came
“Was she trying to seduce me?” He thought looking from her head to toe.
“Good morning Mr White,” She said in a seductive manner which made Jaxton almost puke.
“Stop acting like a slut. Get out.” He said sharply and she shivered. She pulled down the hem of her gown as she walked out of the house.
Ruby looked at him again, this time with a shock on her face.
“Is he really serious right now?” She asked herself.
She was about to call the next person when Landon sighted who he had in mind for the job she walked in looking like a goddess.
Jaxton had plans of using this lady to make Sydney jealous he didn’t know how but he just wanted to make her jealous by asking for some time apart.
He planned to make Her his escort to the grand lunch of the product the company was working on.

As the days went on in the company she realised that she saw Jaxton less and lesser and this space they had taken.
Even though she wanted it but she still felt a certain kind of way for him.
As she made her way to his office so she could see him.
She tried his number and it began to ring and he just watched it ring till it was stopped.
She knew he was doing it on purpose so she just turned and went into her office to finish her work.
When she received a call from a strange number she picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Hello is this Miss Sydney?”
“Yes, this is she?” she said.
“Your friends Amanda and Kimberly have been involved in an accident and they suggested you as their only guardian.
” What?” she screamed and then gathered the valuable things she could and left the office in a rush.
“Nurse, where are they?” she asked hysterically.
The nurse came in to check up on Kimberly, she has been awake doing nothing.
She just stared at the ceiling of the hospital. She kept thinking about things, in fact, everything in her life.
“Hi, Miss.” The nurse said jolting Kim out of her thoughts. She turned her head to look at the nurse and she accompanied her look with a smile.
“Hi, ma’am.” She responded and the nurse gave her a comforting smile.
“I am here to make sure you are okay, how are you feeling your friend is, here,” she asked running a quick check on Kim.
“I feel normal. Please how is Amanda? Is she okay now?” She asked and the nurse smiled.
“She is in the operating room Kim, you don’t have to worry,” Sydney said and Kim smiled widely.
“Thank you so much.” She said and the nurse looked at her.
Sydney knew she wasn’t in a place to ask or discuss personal things with a patient, but she was forced to ask Kim.
Although they were friends due to her always having to be at work she had drifted a little but seeing how Kimberly could sacrifice for their friendship she began to feel bad.
“Do you love our friend Amanda that much?”
“Pardon?” Kim uttered.
“Do you love her so much that you could sacrifice your other kidney even when your other one isn’t that strong,” she said and Kim sighed.
“I never knew I could do something this crazy for someone my entire life. We kept fighting and insulting each other, we always pretend not to have that soft spot for each other. But the way I saw her lay lifeless on that bed, it was like a part of me was lifeless.” Kimberly explained to Sydney.
“I don’t know but if that is what love is, then I am in love. I can’t deny it any longer. My stupid self gave her his allergies and didn’t even say sorry. The Doctor said her case worsened because of the allergies, which means I was the cause.”
“No no, don’t say that Kimmy, she is going to be fine you just saved her,” Sydney said as the nurse finally realised that was her cue to leave.
“I couldn’t take it. I could imagine someone dying because of my own stupid mistakes. And I couldn’t imagine my friend leaving me behind. This world has been so harsh, but trust me, she has been the best.” Kim talked and tears filled Sydney’s eyes already.
“You said you both acted like you hated each other. How come you saw her as a friend?” Sydney further asked.
“A friend is someone you can talk to, someone that would help you in time of need. Someone that will always be there, you and Amanda are everything, just that you get super busy most times and forget about the other but you have a good heart” she said and began to cough.
“She even got me clothes, though she made it seem I bought them with my salary. She did everything for me without hesitation” Kim said laughing and Sydney smiled widely.
“The frustration is part of the reason why you are our friend. If you don’t like a person, it is hard to get frustrated by them because you ignore them most of the time.” Sydney explained and Kim nodded.
“Of course. Even though you all are so annoying, I still never stopped going to you guys.” Sydney smiled.
“You loved the frustration,” Sydney said and they both laughed
“I did. And I don’t want to lose that frustration now.” She said.
“Wow. I can’t believe I am crying.” Sydney said chuckling.
“Why? Is our story that pathetic?” Kim asked looking at Sydney and she shook her head.
“No, no. It isn’t about you, It is about me I have been a bad friend and it’s now I am realising it” Sydney said feeling bad about how she had neglected her friends.
“But it seems I can’t have that someone,” Sydney said and Kim creased her brows.
“But you have Jaxton, don’t you?”
“We broke up babe that’s the reason why I wish I find that person soon. I am at the edge of giving up, to be honest.” Sydney said.
“You will meet the person, everyone has his or her partner. You don’t have to worry, you would meet with your better half one day.” Kim said and she smiled and bobbed her head.
The nurse entered the room again.
“Let’s talk health now, I can’t be caught talking personal stuff with a patient.” The nurse said.
” Ah, I hate this part,” Kim said with annoyance in her voice.
“I get it,” Sydney responded with a smile as the nurse began her talk.
“So here we have your daily medications. You have a total of twelve drugs you need to take every day.” She said and Kim’s eyes widened.
“Twelve drugs?? OMG.” She stated in amusement.
“It isn’t that scary, you don’t have to worry.” She said and Kim sighed.
“I will get them for you, babe,” Sydney said and Kim looked at him with gooey eyes.
“Thank you,” Kim said.
“The drugs are not here with me because you would need them after you have been discharged. I would bring them to you and explain how each of them is used. And please note, the drugs and prescriptions could change so please keep visiting the hospital for regular checkups.” The nurse said.
“Doesn’t seem so hard.” She said and the nurse grinned.
“I would leave you to rest now.” She said keeping her jotter in her side pocket.
“One more thing can you tell us when our friend is up?”Sydney asked.
“Of course. You should rest now.”
