Chapter 70
As she delved into the food he had prepared for her she received a call from Paxton, when she looked around the room she was grateful Jaxton was not in view.
“What does he want?” she asked herself out loud.
“Hello sir” she said into the phone.
“I want you to come to the office right now” he barked into the phone.
What the heck! Did this man forget that this was a weekend or what?
“Paxton today is a weekend remember?” she asked him and he stayed quiet for a while just breathing before he finally spoke up.
“Yes Sydney I know it’s a weekend but we need to do something urgently” he said in the phone with a tone of urgency.
Sydney knew it was something serious hence the way he sounded so she quickly got up and rushed ti the bathroom and took a bath.
At least she knew that she was going to attend to Jaxton at 12 AM so she sent him a quick text message informing him of where he was and when it showed blue ticks she knew he had seen it even though he didn’t respond immediately.
When she got to the office it didn’t seem as though it was a weekend as it was occupied and busy working on the computer.
Some even grumbling for the fact that today being a weekend it was a family day and they had things planned.
“What happened, why is everything so down and why are you all at the office on a weekend?” Sydney asked but nobody was willing to respond to her.
She looked around and confused. Whatever had happened has to be super serious to cause such complication and dedication on a weekend.
“Paxton what happened?” she asked as she entered his office.
“He looked at her with bloodshot eyes as though he was about crying.
“Some funds have been stolen from the company safe and somehow it was connected to the money from the contract, and I can’t seem to trace it” Paxton explained frustrated.
“There has got to be an explanation Paxton, what has the finance department said, the accountant and who else” she said all in a rush.
For a minute he had to calm her down because the way she sounded was heartbreaking to him.
He had not even began to show emotions she was full blown perspiring.
She went down to work as she rallied everyone and Jaxton walked into the building. There was no time for pleasantries at least everyone knew the situation at hand and if Jaxton was to start any talk about her being closed to Paxton it was going to bring super long troubles.
“Paxton man, what do we do now?” Jaxton asked his brother as he entered the office.
At least they had left their differences for the time being.
“We can call a tech wiz because from the look of things the monies are still yet to be transferred to another international account the only thing is I am not that versed with everything concerning the financial accounts” Paxton explained.
“I’ve a friend who can help with that I’ll get to him right now” Jaxton explained as he took out his phone.
“I think we should call on all the financial department” Jaxton said as he called Sydney and she rallied everyone and they all came out.
“If at the end of the day we find out that it is one of you who has done this we would not hesitate to throw you into jail” Jaxton said with conviction as he looked at everyone to get a fidgety reaction but he found none.
If the culprit was there he was sure hiding his guilt perfectly well.
Everyone went back to work and no one even had the urge for lunch, the brothers and Jaxton’s friend were busy tracing the accounts, while Sydney worked with the files she had been given to sort out to see if they had signed a wrong document leading to this money transfer.
Exhausted and hungry and blood shot eyes his friend finally traced the account to one Steven who was not even where they were.
Steven was in Singapore and another name William which shows it came from the company but checking the employee list, there was no Williams.
“Okay, so what do we do now?” an exhausted Sydney leaning on Jaxton asked.
“Nobody leaves this vicinity till the issue is rectified” Paxton said as he ordered the guards to look the Elevators and doors of exit.
It was 7 PM already and having to deal with at least fifty employees was no easy job but for the sake of this company they were going to get the perpetrator.
After about an hour of going through roll call it was realized that one of the employees was no were to be found and he had been n seat since morning.
“Check the security cameras As soon as possible” Sydney said and when they did sure enough he was seen in the coffee room.
“Go get that scoundrel” Paxton ordered and the security did as they were told.
He was brought up and when asked why he did it he had no specific reason aside from greed.
“Take him away” Jaxton yelled as the policemen were standing there waiting for the orders and he was dragged and taken away whilst he begged profusely, of course the brothers did nothing to listen to him of course he had caused enough damage for one day.
Ruined their nice Saturday and everyone was super tensed to begin with.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
“You all can go home and all might take Monday off today has been a hectic day” Paxton said and the employees grudgingly carried themselves home.
“Thanks man for you services” Jaxton thanked his friend then turned to Sydney who looked super beat up from going through the files.
As they left she still heard Paxton talk of bankruptcy.
