Back to Pack
I opened my eyes to find myself in a familiar bedroom, the light felt too bright and my head pounded in my skull. I sat up and closed my eyes calling my werewolf to look with me as I opened my eyes this time, the lights didn’t seem to bright.
The door opened and a familiar person, I grinned when I saw him.
“Logan!” I exclaimed and he grinned and hugged me, I hugged him back.
“How did you find me?” I asked and he smiled, and held my hand.
“We have been scouting the place where you disappeared, and my guards saw you unconscious mfloating on a river.” He said and I stared at him confused.
“Floating on a river?” I asked and Logan nodded.
“The Quintus werewolves lands is magical and I guess it has some kind of invisible portal that does not allow it to be found or seen” he explained and suddenly I remembered Brock, was he back?
“What of Brock?” I asked and he grimaced, a bad sign.
“No news of him” he said sadly, “I know he lay down his life to get you out of there”
Tears threatened to fall out of my eyes but I held myself I didn’t want to give Logan any clue about what I felt for Brock. Logan held my hands tighter.
“I am glad you are back” he said and I nodded. I wished I could tell him back too but I couldn’t.
“The mating ceremony is in one month,” Logan announced. “I want you to recover then you will be treated like a queen here, everyone will know that I choose you” he said and I forced a smile like the idea pleased me. Logan smiled back and excused me. I sat up as soon as he left and rushed to the window, hoping I would see the sky darken as Brock came in all his glory but no such thing happened and I sank to the ground, grief filled my body and I quietly sobbed. Brock was dead, the cold handsome beta that I had given my love and my body to was dead. I closed my eyes and sleep pulled me into his embrace.
My beta was dead.

I felt like a zombie the next day. Logan had come to the bed and offered me tea and after seeing that I was in no mood to talk, he had left to attend to some business. I sat now at the balcony still watching the horizon for Brock, who hadn’t yet shown up. Something still told me he wasn’t dead, or did the rogue werewolves cut off this escape. I sighed for the fiftieth time this morning and stood,
“We are having a ball tonight,” Logan said behind me and I whirled around. He grinned sheepishly.
“Really?” I asked and he nodded, I smiled. I loved parties and balls, maybe I can even forget Brock existed and move on, after all he had rejected me.
“I love to attend, gosh I love balls” I said and kissed him on the cheek, he smiled at me warmly and I wished he was who I fell in love with, he was kind.
“Alright Amelia, I will send someone to come and tend to you, see ya” he said and left while I glanced at the horizon once more.

One of Logan’s servants, a kind lady, came to dress me in a red expensive gown. It had taken several persuades from her to be sure Logan had asked me to wear it, it looked to be worth millions.
The lady had introduced herself as Gwen, she was a funny and quirky person. I looked in the mirror as she brushed my long blond hair.
“You must be lucky” she said with a grin, “The alpha has fallen in love with you”
‘While I have fallen in love with his beta’ I thought, how fucked up my life is. I offered a smile and nodded like the idea pleased me instead I felt a sense of dread. I stared in shock at the beautiful blonde that stared back at me as Gwen finished with my hair. In the mirror I looked so___stunning. I stood and Gwen clapped.
“You look beautiful Ma’am” she said and I was surprised. Was she treating me like royalty? Hell no.
“Don’t call me Ma’am” I said, “Amelia would be very much better”
She looked stunned for a moment then she smiled widely.
“Of course Ma….. Am…Amelia” she said and I grinned, and linked hands with hers.
“Come on Gwen, I want you to escort me to the ball but before that I’d love something to drink” I said and we walked to the bar and poured drinks for ourselves around us the house was a flurry of activities as everyone prepared for the ball. I noticed Gwen hadn’t touched her drink.
“Oh come on, don’t tell me you need my permission to drink” I said exasperated. I hated being treated too special like royalty.
“You are queen” she said and I roared out in laughter, some other servants paused to stare at me.
“Are you serious Gwen?” I said trying to refrain from laughing, “I am no queen” I said and her gray eyes met mine for a moment before she smiled.
“Very well miss Amelia” she said and chugged down her drink in one single gulp, “Thank you” she said and I grinned.
“Do you have a guy you have eyes on?” I asked and she grinned mischievously.
“Yes” she whisper-screamed, “A bodyguard here. He is so cute” she said and I smiled inwardly, just how I felt for Brock. A servant approached us.
“Miss Grace” he said, “The alpha would like you to join him at the ball” he said and I nodded at him, he bowed and left while I cringed inwardly, they should really stop this.
“Come on, Gwen. Let’s rock the party” I said and we grinned at each other and headed for the door.
It was time to party.
With a friend.
