Chapter 1123
After sending the message, the caller stopped laughing and spoke in a cold tone, "Mr. York, have you already forgotten me after I just returned your child? Let's get to the point. I've injected something into your son's body. If you want to know what it is, bring him to this address."
Miss Flores then recited an address, which turned out to be in a residential area. Her carefully crafted plan was about to unfold. After all, she wouldn't have gone through the trouble of taking Orion only to return him without a reason.
Nash memorized the address and warned her, "Don't try any tricks. You should know who I am. I can crush someone like you with just a flick of my finger."
"Mr. York, there's no need to be so angry. If I dared to return your son, then I've already considered what you might do to me. I'm not afraid. At worst, it's a life for a life."
A life for a life? Her life couldn't compare to his son's.
Nash had been quietly monitoring this situation without alarming Nina to avoid worrying her. Now that Miss Flores had revealed herself, it was time to strike.
"Fine. I'll be there," Nash said before hanging up the phone. He stood in the hallway for a moment, trying to suppress his anger. Anyone who dared to harm his son had a death wish.
Nina, who had gone out to buy breakfast, overheard Nash's last sentence and immediately guessed it was related to their child.
She saw him trying to compose himself and realized he was planning to keep her in the dark. She quickly returned to the hospital room ahead of him.
Nash came back shortly after, smiling as he approached Orion and gently pinched his cheek. "Daddy has to step out for a bit. Be good and listen to the doctor, okay? Do whatever the doctor says."
"Okay," Orion nodded obediently.
Nash then explained to the others that there was an urgent matter at the company that Quincy couldn't handle alone. Knowing how busy he was, the grandfather reassured Nash not to worry about the situation at the hospital. As Nash prepared to leave, Nina quietly pulled him aside. "Maybe I should go with you."
"No need. It's just company business, nothing you need to get involved in. You should stay here with Orion. He'll feel better with you and Dad around."
Nash wasn't sure what tricks Miss Flores might have up her sleeve and didn't want to put Nina in any danger. This was something he needed to handle alone.
After he left, Nina used the excuse of
getting more breakfast to follow him. She ordered food delivery for Orion and his grandfather, then discreetly trailed Nash to the residential complex.
The place looked familiar, and Nina quickly realized it was the same area where Orion had been taken last time. She knew it had to be Miss Flores, who had set up the meeting.
The neighborhood was quiet, and the address led them to Building 21. Following the security guard's directions, Nash arrived at the building.
Just as he was about to enter, he spotted a familiar figure hiding by the bushes. He frowned and approached.
"Nina," Nash said in surprise before breaking into a smile.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
After all these years, Nina could read him like a book, seeing through any attempts to hide the truth.
"I didn't mean to keep this from you. I was just worried about what Miss Flores might have planned, so-"
"I understand, honey, no need to explain," Nina interrupted. "But I won't let you face this alone."
She took his hand. "Let's face this together. Whatever she has planned, we can handle it."
Nash smiled and gently pinched her nose. For safety, he quickly sent Quincy a message, sharing their location.
They easily found Unit 501. Standing on either side of the door, Nash rang the doorbell.
"Who is it?" a stranger's voice came from inside, causing both of them to frown. It wasn't Miss Flores. Someone else was involved. They grew more cautious.
The door opened to reveal a plump woman. She looked at Nash curiously and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"Is Miss Flores home?" Nash asked, peering into the apartment.
The woman scolded him, "Hey, hey, hey, what are you looking at? It's just me and my husband here. I don't know any Miss Flores."
