Chapter 1137
Nash didn't wait for the nurse to speak. He immediately called the hospital director and made his stance clear that Lisa had to be fired.
Lisa panicked, clutching Nash's legs and begging, "Mr. York, I realize my mistake. Please, give me another chance. My parents went through so much to get me this job. I can't let them down."
"If you were truly concerned about your parents' efforts, you wouldn't have slandered me," Nina stated firmly. "Director, if she's not fired, I'll escalate this matter, and if the hospital gets dragged into it, don't say I didn't warn you."
Understanding Nash's influence, the director immediately had Lisa removed from the hospital. Her cries and protests echoed through the entire floor as she was dragged out. The director apologized profusely to the couple and reassigned the head nurse to take over Lisa's duties.
Nash was satisfied and, on his way out, mentioned that he would fund the renovation of the inpatient department. The director was overjoyed and thanked him repeatedly.
Meanwhile, Nina, who had fallen asleep after taking her medication, sensed someone entering the room. Assuming it was Nash, she didn't react at first. But when she noticed the door closing quietly, she immediately became alert.
"You?" Nina opened her eyes to see Lisa standing by the bed, holding a syringe with a menacing look.
"What do you think you're doing?" Nina's hand instinctively moved toward the pillow as she kept her eyes locked on Lisa.
Lisa sneered, "What do you think? I lost my job because of you. Now it's time to settle the score."
She lunged at Nina, who used the pillow as a shield and quickly got out of bed, heading for the door. But Lisa was fast, grabbing the syringe and rushing at her from behind.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Nina spun around, grabbing Lisa's hand and slamming it against the wall. The syringe clattered to the floor, and Lisa snarled in pain.
"I'm going to kill you," she hissed.
Nina, mindful of her pregnancy, didn't want to make any sudden moves, so she pushed Lisa away. She then turned to leave, only to have her foot grabbed.
"Do you really think I can't handle you?" Nina snapped.
She had hoped their conflict wouldn't escalate, but Lisa was determined to harm her. Gripping Nina's foot tightly, Lisa tried to trip her.
Nina, fed up, delivered a sharp kick,
sending Lisa sprawling. As Nina made her way to the door, Lisa grabbed a pair of pliers from the
nurse's station and chased after her.
Nina couldn't run too fast, and Lisa soon caught up, grabbing her from behind and pressing the pliers against her neck.
"Move, and I'll plunge this in. Even if they save you, they won't be able to save your baby with an artery cut."
Nina froze, allowing Lisa to hold her in place. She tried to reason with her, "What do you want? Maybe I can help." "That's better. But it's too late for that now. You cost me my job, so I'll make sure your husband loses you and your baby."
Lisa's maniacal laughter echoed through the corridor. Patients and nurses stood by, too terrified to
intervene, fearing they might provoke Lisa into harming Nina.
"Even if I die, you won't get away with this," Nina warned.
"I'm not afraid. If we go down together, at least Mr. York will think of me whenever he remembers you," Lisa said with a crazed grin.
Nina could see that Lisa had lost her mind. She knew she needed to find a way out of this situation and quickly.
At that moment, Nash spotted the commotion and hurried over, realizing it was Nina in danger.
"Let my wife go, and I'll meet your demands," he said.
"Fine. Divorce her and marry me. We'll register the marriage right away and won't ask for much. $10,000 as a wedding gift will do, Lisa demanded, her smile widening. "If you don't agree, I'll kill her and then myself."
Nina quickly blinked at Nash, signaling him not to make any hasty decisions.
Understanding her cue, Nash smiled and said, "I'll call someone from the county clerk's office to come over now. Just put down the pliers first."
