CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1641

Jamie's mind was a whirlwind of emotions. But she couldn't deny that compared to her outright rejection in the past, she was beginning to waver.

Ben's words echoed in her mind: even if she could ignore her own feelings, what about Charlie? Was she really going to let him grow up without a father he could proudly call his own? And as for her feelings toward Ben... "I need to talk to Charlie first," Jamie finally said, looking directly into Ben's eyes.

At last, she wasn't running away.

"This isn't just about us," she continued. "It's about him too. He doesn't even know about you yet. I need to tell him first."

Ben's grip on her shoulders loosened. It wasn't the definitive answer he had hoped for, but it was progress. Jamie's willingness to consider it gave him hope.

"Alright," Ben said softly, his voice gentle. "Take your time to talk to him. I'll wait."

Jamie felt a wave of relief at his understanding.

As Ben left, he immediately tasked his assistant with preparing wedding arrangements.

"Get the wedding dress Jamie tried on last time-buy it. And get others ready, too. Make sure everything is perfect," he instructed without hesitation.

The assistant, faced with the sudden onslaught of work, was momentarily stunned. "Wait... wedding? Is this really happening?" the assistant thought.

Their famously elusive boss was getting married?

And to someone so capable that they had managed to secure his affection without anyone even suspecting?

The assistant felt a newfound respect for this mysterious future Mrs. Lucas.

Unaware of the quiet admiration her existence was stirring, Jamie went about her day completely oblivious to Ben's behind-the-scenes maneuvering. She had no idea that her casual words had sparked such grand plans. If she had known, Jamie might have reconsidered what she said and perhaps regretted it entirely.

Meanwhile, Jamie spent the rest of the day in a haze, lying on her bed and trying to calm her thoughts. The silence and solitude were exactly what she needed.

Then, it hit her.

"Shoot, it's past time to pick up Charlie!" She grabbed her keys and rushed out the door.

Unfortunately, traffic was at a standstill. Her car barely crawled forward, and Jamie's anxiety grew with each passing minute. She called Miss Georgia to explain her situation.

Miss Georgia, understanding as ever, reassured her. "Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on him until you get here."

Relieved, Jamie thanked her.

At the preschool, Miss Georgia hung up and immediately scanned the playground. Charlie was usually one of the first to wait by the gate for his mom She needed to let him know that his mom would be late today. novelbin

"Have you seen Charlie?" she asked one of the kids.

The little boy pointed with his chubby hand. "He was over there, but now he's not."

As the dismissal bell rang, Miss Georgia's heart sank. She hurried toward the gate. Sure enough, Charlie had already made his way there.

The area was bustling with parents picking up their children, each little one being guided away with laughter and hugs. Charlie stood quietly at the gate, his small figure almost lost among the crowd.

He waited patiently, as he always did, hoping to catch sight of his mom. Usually, she would arrive right away. But today, time stretched longer than usual, and his shoulders began to slump.

One by one, his classmates left with their parents.

Charlie's friend waved goodbye cheerfully. "See you tomorrow, Charlie!"

Charlie looked up, spotting his closest friend from preschool. He raised his hand to wave back, but his mood was far from cheerful. His wave was slow, his expression glum. "See you," he mumbled, the excitement in his voice nowhere to be found.
