Chapter 814
Nina's attention to Micah irked Nash. He asked, "Why were you with him all afternoon?"
"I told you, I fell asleep there," Nina replied.
Nash couldn't understand, "Why didn't you come back if you wanted to sleep? Being alone with him can cause rumors."
Nina didn't like his tone, "How are we alone? There were kids there. Besides, Micah and I are just friends. Who cares what others say? This isn't the old days. Why are you being so old-fashioned?" Nash pursed his lips, his expression darkening.
"And you disappeared early this morning. Your people couldn't find you, so I had to do something on my own. Is that wrong?"
"Fine, let's not argue."
Nina sensed that continuing would only make things worse.
"I don't want to argue with you," Nash said softly, trying to calm her.
His tone was gentle, showing he didn't want to upset her. This softened Nina's anger, and when he knew how to back down, she couldn't stay mad. "I was with Arin. Micah asked me to stay and teach the kids after he left. I'm basically a part-time teacher now. That's all."
"I got it," Nash replied. "Go get some rest."
Nina looked at him. He seemed calm and didn't press further about her time with Micah. But his suggestion to rest meant he wanted her to return to her own tent, indicating he didn't want to be with her. Given what happened the previous night, she thought Nash might want to be with her. But now she realized she was wrong. His rough behavior last night, combined with today's questioning and distance, made her feel even colder.
"Okay."
With that, Nina walked away. Nash watched her retreating figure in silence.
"This morning, Miss Nina asked about your whereabouts, but we didn't tell her," Felix said to Nash. "We're afraid she might start suspecting things."
"It's fine," Nash replied calmly. "It won't be much longer anyway."
The next day, in the woods.
Wes was walking, about to return to Ivy's side. When he looked up, his expression changed, and he stopped.
"Was it you who tried to assassinate Nina?"
Wes lowered his head and knelt on one knee. "Sir."
Micah turned, his deep eyes on Wes. "I asked you a question."
Wes pressed his lips together. "Yes, it's me."
"Where is Ivy?" Micah asked again.
"Miss is..."Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
"No need to look, I'm already here." Ivy drove up, stepped out, and looked haughtily at Micah. "Brother, why are you looking for me? Are you going to punish me for some woman?"
Micah's expression was impassive. "You can't touch Nina."
"Why not?" Ivy was furious. "What's so special about her? She's just a pretty
but am I not prettieet
Why do you favor her?"
Micah's gaze was piercing. "Why are you following me, Ivy? Can't you just stay home and be obedient?"
Ivy walked closer. "I want your attention, but you shower those kids with affection and ignore me. How can I be content?"
Micah had heard this many times
before and his expression hardened. "The world doesn't revolve around you.I'm warning you, don't do it again. You can't harm Nina.
"And I'm not your brother!"
Ivy's face twisted in anger. "Are you denying me?"
Micah's eyes bore into hers. "Do you have any proof that you're my sister?"
