Deep love: insatiable lover

Chapter 416: She’s Your Daughter Too

After resolving the matter in question, Dylan immediately returned to his flat.

It was already past ten o’clock at night.

Normally Vanessa was asleep by this time, but not tonight. The moment she opened the door and saw that the light was still on in the living room, a warm feeling came over Dylan’s heart.

The feeling of having someone waiting for him at home was too good to be true.

-Vanessa, why are you still up at this hour?

Dylan took off his coat and hung it on the coat rack by the door, changed his slippers and walked over to Vanessa, who was sitting on the couch with a book in her hand, looking like she was reading, trying to make Dylan understand that she wasn’t sleeping because she was reading and not waiting for him.

-I’ll be asleep in a minute.

Vanessa said, closing the book and standing up.

She seemed particularly serene, as if nothing had happened.

As he watched his back, Dylan couldn’t help but smile.

He wanted to say, “I know you’re staying so late because you’re waiting for me on purpose,” but the words came out of his mouth and he swallowed them.

This was not the time to say it.

-Sleep early and good night.

Dylan tried to contain the joy in his heart and said goodbye to Vanessa calmly and naturally, watching her enter the bedroom and close the door.

When he was left alone, Dylan couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face.

A door away, Vanessa looked particularly annoyed.

She hadn’t realised that she had made a point of waiting in the living room. She hated to admit it, but she was even relieved the moment she saw that Dylan had returned safely.

“Why was I worried about him? He has plenty of bodyguards around him, he doesn’t need me to worry. Not to mention Dylan is an adult, how could he afford to suffer from hunger.”

So he didn’t have to worry at all.

Realising this, Vanessa began to deliberately ignore Dylan, to stop thinking about him and to force herself not to worry about Dylan’s whereabouts.

But no sooner had he made up his mind than Dylan was very busy in the days that followed, leaving early and returning late.

The two usually dined together, but in the last week they haven’t seen much of each other.

To Vanessa’s chagrin, she could have stayed at the inn and had dinner with Mercedes before returning, since Dylan was away. Instead, she returned to the flat every night and sat alone at the dinner table.

-Vanessa, Vanessa, what the hell do you want?

Depressed, Vanessa muttered to herself in the mirror, frowning in disgust. Little did she know that her current appearance was being observed by Dylan.

Seeing her uncomfortable at the lack of his company made Dylan’s heart sing.

Proof that his methods were beginning to work.

No one knew how hard it was for him to abstain these days, how much he wanted to be on time for Vanessa’s meals every day, to cherish every moment he spent with her.

-I’ll leave the rest to you.

Dylan said to Mateo.

And poor Mateo, who had long since become accustomed to working overtime for Dylan, nodded respectfully without complaint.

-Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything.

Dylan nodded, got up, grabbed his coat off the shelf and left his brother’s temporary office.

-Dinner is ready, Miss Vanessa, would you like to have dinner now?

Vanessa unconsciously looked at the time, realised it was only half past six in the evening and shook her head.

-I’ll eat later.

She didn’t know what was wrong with her, it was as if she had a feeling Dylan would be back tonight, so she waited for him to join her.

Sure enough, after ten minutes, there was a rattling at the door.

Dylan is back.

-Have you eaten yet?

-I was planning to eat.

Vanessa hid the excitement in her eyes, making it clear that -I didn’t mean to wait for you, but it was all a coincidence.

Dylan chuckled lightly to himself.

-Although I came back quite early today, it was past your usual dinner time and I thought you had already eaten.

-I’ve just seen a book and I’ve become engrossed in it and I’ve lost track of time.

Vanessa presented an impeccable excuse.

-What a coincidence, I’ll be eating with you tonight.

Dylan smiled softly, but Vanessa had little expression as she made her way to the table and sat down to eat.

It was the first time in a week that the two had sat down to dinner together.

Vanessa looked at the plate Dylan was serving himself on the plate in front of her, and with his worried questions in her ears, she suddenly felt at peace. The anxiety and silence of the previous days disappeared in that moment, and her mood was inexplicably happy.

Tomorrow is time for your maternity check-up, isn’t it? I’ll come with you.

-Yes.

At seven months pregnant, it’s time for a check-up.

Check-ups will move from once a month to once a week to ensure that all indicators are normal before delivery.

As the months passed, the baby began to become active in her womb, and Vanessa could often see the little one stretching across her belly.

Since they sleep separately and Dylan cannot touch her without Vanessa’s consent, she has to suck it up and pretend she doesn’t know, even though she knows the baby moves a lot at that moment and has longed to experience that miraculous moment.

Tonight, after dinner, Vanessa woke up and looked pale.

-Ah.

His body swayed and he held on to the table so as not to fall.

-What’s going on?

Dylan got up with a worried look on his face and rushed over to her.

-The baby kicked me.

The kick had been a bit hard, so much so that Vanessa’s stomach hurt so much that she almost fell over as she sat up unsteadily.

-Is the baby moving?

Although Dylan was quite calm, he could not hide the excitement in his voice.

It occurred to Vanessa then that the man had not yet communicated with her child in the womb. It seemed that she had caught his longing eyes countless times before, but had ignored them.

This time, it suddenly felt quite cruel.

He had a role to play in the baby, no matter what.

-Well, the baby has been moving around in my tummy a lot lately.

Vanessa finished, hesitated and, after seeing Dylan’s expectant and anxious gaze fixed on her belly, suddenly said.

-Would you like to touch it?NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

The moment the words were out of her mouth, Vanessa regretted them, but there was no point in taking them back when they had already been said.

Vanessa could only contain her disgust and feign calmness.

-Can I?

Dylan’s eyes lit up immediately, the eagerness and anticipation in them even a little piercing.
