Chapter 1151: South of the Border (2)
In the fall and winter of her second year in the UK, Micaela was bored at home during winter break from college and packed her bags again, but this time for the Middle East.
Because at the end of the year, Micaela’s tutor’s theme was war and art.
Micaela went to Iraq, to Syria.
During her travels in Syria, she brought back a wandering Kurdish boy.
Esequiel is stunned when Micaela stands in front of him with the black Kurdish orphan.
Esequiel took off his glasses and asked in surprise, “The boy is…”
Micaela patted the boy on the back, “Hud, call Grandpa.”
During these days, Micaela spent a lot of time with the Kurdish boy and taught him a lot of Spanish and simple English.
Hud smiled, showing his white teeth, smiled at Esequiel and called out to him in broken and not very correct Spanish, “Hola, abuelo.”
Esequiel leads Micaela and the child inside the house.
“Where are the child’s mother and father?”
Micaela explains, “Hud’s parents died in the war and the Kurds were left without a country and in foster care, I met Hud on a trip when he fainted from hunger and took him to the hospital.”
Esequiel felt compassion for the child, but said sensibly, “But there are many people in this world who have lost their countries and their families in the war, you can’t bring a child every time you go to pick up, how can you have the energy for that?”
“There are more than 30 million displaced Kurds, and I don’t have the means or the capacity to take care of them all. Just like Mr. Esequiel took me in as his daughter two years ago, I was in the same situation as Hud, with no faith and no family, and you gave me a chance to survive. Mr. Esequiel, I want to adopt this child and I had to go through a lot of trouble to bring him to the UK to get a visa, I want Hud to stay in the UK and I want him to be educated.”
Esequiel frowned slightly and reflected, “He has no nationality, which is difficult.”
“I have applied to the ZF to adopt Hud and it would be much better if Hud adopted British citizenship.”
Esequiel looked at Micaela, slowly smiled and said with relief, “Okay, this child must be meant for you, I’ll send someone to say hello later, it shouldn’t be difficult.”
Problem Esequiel, Micaela was embarrassed, “Mr. Esequiel, thank you really, it seems like I’m always begging Mr. Esequiel to do things.”
Esequiel laughed, “I have no sons or daughters, you and Darius, you and I are destined for each other, don’t be ungrateful and send me a watch when I die, then I’ll consider that you were loved for nothing!”
Micaela’s eyes were slightly moist, “The paternal love I never received from my real father, I received from Sr. Esequiel, and Dario was right, blood sometimes is nothing, it’s fate and destiny.”
Sr. Esequiel stood up and walked toward the study with his hands behind his back, his voice kind and benevolent, “Come study my ink, you’re not here these days and that boy doesn’t visit, so I have to sharpen my ink to write alone, my old wrists are sore.”
Micaela laughed and hurried over to her, “I’m going to study your ink here.”
Since then, Micaela has had another family member in the form of her adopted son, Hud.
…
The following Christmas Eve, Savanna, fearing that Nico would be lonely, accompanied Grandpa Amengual to New Year’s Eve dinner and then dragged Nico outside to play.
The evening movie on the first day of the Lunar New Year was all about New Year’s Eve and the queue was quite crowded at the entrance to the cinema.
The movie hadn’t even started yet and with more than half an hour to go, Savanna dragged Nico to the milk tea store in the mall to buy some.
Nico was so disinterested that he said he was going to the bathroom and smoked for half an hour.
It was Savanna who kept calling him, which didn’t leave him alone and he reluctantly accompanied Savanna to watch a greeting movie.
Savanna sat next to him, eating popcorn and watching with a big grin like a fool.
Nico frowned slightly, was she amused?
I vaguely remember the last time I went into a movie theater to watch a movie with someone like that, two years ago.
It didn’t seem so long and awkward when I saw the movie with Micaela.
Halfway through, Nico said he had to go to the bathroom and slipped out again.
When the movie was over, Savanna called Nico, who told her he was waiting for her in the parking lot and told her to come straight down.
As she got into the car, Savanna growled and spat, “You said you would watch a movie with someone, but you leave before you warm up, are you such a brother?”
“You dragged me to such a boring movie by yourself and I resent you for not joining you next time.”
Savanna grimaced at him.
On Christmas Eve day in the city, the roads were a bit congested and there were a lot of cars, most of them going to New Year’s Eve dinner and a movie.
Not far away, on a big screen in the mall, a movie trailer was playing, a British literary film to be released in the country.
Nico scanned the movie, as he had little interest in this type of literary romance film.
It was Savanna, who tugged enthusiastically on Nico’s sleeve, looked at the big screen not far away and said, “Brother, come see this with me on Valentine’s Day! This movie is getting terrific reviews overseas, and it’s opening in China this Valentine’s Day!”.
Nico frowned: “I’m not your boyfriend, what do you want me to watch the Valentine’s Day movie, hurry up to find a boyfriend, if you don’t find a boyfriend, you will become an old girl soon.”
“…” Savanna was embarrassed, she was still a flower girl, how she had become an old girl!
Savanna said indignantly, “Even if you won’t accompany me, I’ll find someone else to watch it with me!”.
Black Bugatti, driven through a large screen.
On the way, Savanna chattered like a little chatterbox, “Bro, I just looked up the director of that British film and it’s unbelievable, it’s like this director came out of nowhere, there’s no information, just this debut feature.”
Nico threw in, “What do you care about someone’s director info when you’re watching a movie?”.
“Who made me a screenwriter-director major? The head of the department gave us the task to watch twenty films for the New Year and meet the directors of the films, hey, it’s hard for a smart woman to cook without rice, one day without watching the works, I feel my head is empty.”
Nico scoffed at her, “I didn’t see you, a straw millennial, had a hard day’s work.”
“Who’s a slacker? I’m a good, hard-working young man.”
That said, Savanna began to look again for the director and muttered, “An Englishman with a Spanish stage name and a director … Brother, do you think this Yaw is a man or a woman, I guess he is not a transgender person, if not, why can’t you look up what gender he is? ?”
Nico thought his sister was being too loud, “If you don’t shut up, I’m going to throw you out of the car.”
Savanna bit her little mouth, “Bully!”
…
The northwest side of the European continent at the time.
Sr. Esequiel, Dario, Micaela and Hud sat happily in the house watching the Chinese New Year party and waiting for New Year’s Eve.
Late in the evening, it was past midnight and Mr. Esequiel was in an excellent mood, the festivities were not over yet, and he dragged Hud to show him the international Go.
An old man and a young woman, sitting at the table playing Go.
Dario and Micaela had nothing to do, but it wasn’t bedtime either.
Dario pointed his head outside and said, “If you’re not sleepy, let’s go for a walk, there’s a fireworks show outside tonight.”
Micaela pulled on the comforter and picked up a thick scarf and wrapped it around her neck. “Yes, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a fireworks display.”
The nights on the streets of England are deep, cold and damp, with a thick white fog at night.
But the sky was still bursting with fireworks in a multitude of colors, lighting up the hazy night sky.
Micaela looked up at the fleeting fireworks and said with a smile, “The last time I saw fireworks was two years ago, but I still didn’t wait for the one I most wanted to see. Now I don’t seem to be so obsessed with watching fireworks anymore.”
“I’ve heard that whether fireworks are good or not depends entirely on who you watch them with. You’re definitely not interested in watching them with me.”
Micaela couldn’t help but laugh, “I’ve never seen someone so demeaning, how could it not be a good firework to watch with you.”
“You watch fireworks with me the same way you watch them with Mr. Esequiel and Hud, so you have no obsession with these fires.”
Darius had always led an understanding and sober life, but sometimes it was too sober and made much less sense.
Micaela merely smiled slightly, neither agreeing with him nor contradicting him.
Micaela looked up at the sky and said, “It seems that the moon is rarely seen in England.”
“London is a foggy city and it is rare to see the moon.”
“The moon in The Holy City, it must be very bright, especially on the night of the reunion.”
Dario twisted his head to look at her, “Do you miss?”.
Micaela exhaled a white breath and sighed, “I miss my grandmother, I don’t know how her health is now, I’m quite paraded, this is gone, another two whole years, grandmother even my life and death are unknown. I also dare only to ask Pastora, to help me care, I dare not reveal even half a word, I am always afraid that it will leak …”.
“Micaela, what is your New Year’s resolution?”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Micaela curved her lips and said, “Meet my grandmother for once.”
Dario also smiled slightly and opened his mouth slightly, “A trip back to The Holy City, then. ”
Micaela froze and looked at him doubtfully and uncomprehendingly.
Darius, however, stared at her and said, “Go back to The Holy City and see your grandmother; even if you hide, there is an end to this; as long as you exist in this world, you will have survived, and you won’t be able to hide it from everyone for the rest of your life.”
Micaela gently shook her head and refused, “Wait a little longer, I haven’t figured out how to get back yet.”
It is true that avoidance is not a positive response, but avoidance is sometimes the best way to avoid all harm.
Later that evening, Micaela tackled the missing WhatsApp and, surprisingly, was able to upload.
On WhatsApp, almost a thousand WhatsApp messages came in, all from one person.
He said: Micaela, good night.
Micaela just glanced at him and hurriedly left, not even having the courage to look at him more than once.
Her fingers were trembling as she left WhatsApp.
Heartburn becomes a disease.
…
The Holy City goes into the night, Nico takes a shower, grabs his other phone and checks Micaela’s WhatsApp.
Two years ago, after Micaela left, this WhatsApp number has been used by Nico.
However, the cell phone number linked to it has not changed.
With a towel in one hand to wipe his head, Nico sat on the edge of the bed and opened his phone with the other to look, only to discover that this WhatsApp account was connected on another device, which had been disconnected.
Nico was stunned.
He remembered that he had not logged into this WhatsApp number on his tablet, only on this phone.
If there was no risk of theft, who had logged into the account?
Nico’s eyes were deep, as if he had a premonition of what was about to happen, and he jumped to his feet, striding into the study with the phone in his hand.
His heart, vivid, violent, expectant and at the same time panicked, was pounding.
The password to this account, which has not changed, is known only to him, and, Micaela.
