Chapter 88: The retribution of Ivan Martinez
As soon as Estrella Berrocal said this, she noticed that the man’s face grew cold.
Adam Rouco drove in silence as she bit her lip and continued to explain, “I, I was afraid the old man would get irritated again, he was already very upset when he fainted in the hospital last time because of me, if …”
“Are you afraid the old man will get irritated, or is it that you don’t want to marry me?”
Adán Rouco spoke coldly, with a sullen face.
The question was somewhat tinged with fire and Estrella Berrocal became a little annoyed. “What about you, do you really want to marry me?”.
Adán Rouco is not so pretentious as to say anything sentimental, and it is true that part of the reason he now plans to marry Estrella Berrocal is because of Paulita.
Estrella Berrocal lowered her face, knowing that he wouldn’t answer again and that he probably wouldn’t be able to give her the answer she wanted, and said quietly, “You just want to get married, and you don’t really care who it is. But I do care.”
She could not marry Adán Rouco knowing that he did not have her in mind.
Adán Rouco had even married her to cover up his relationship with Olivia Montes, and she was not a white woman, so why did she have to make such a fearless sacrifice.
The atmosphere in the car, for a moment, was cold.
Paulita blinked twice and looked at Adán Rouco and Estrella Berrocal: “Dad, Estrella, are you arguing?”.
Estrella Berrocal was stunned; she had been so focused on arguing with Adán Rouco that she had forgotten that Paulita was still in the car.
“I wasn’t arguing with your father, did I scare you?”.
Estrella Berrocal took the little girl aside, her face softened and she smiled as she stroked her little head.
Paulita smiled, “I don’t like daddy arguing with Estrella.”
“Well, nothing to argue about, it’s all up to Paulita.”
Estrella Berrocal looked up slightly to see the man driving, his face still tense and grim.
She had wanted to share with him the good news that she could participate in the Avalanche contest, but now she thought it best to keep her mouth shut, as Adán Rouco had a volatile temperament and was difficult to please.
Estrella Berrocal brushed her lips, this man, why is he still angry?
…
La Villa Guillén.
Irene Guillén was sitting in front of the European-style dressing mirror, quietly painting her nails, when the maid came in to announce, “Miss, Mr. Ivan has been waiting upstairs for over an hour, would you like to invite him in?”
Undeterred, Irene Guillén grimaced and said, “Since you’re so eager to invite him in, go ahead.”
The maid did not dare to say more; Irene Guillén had a bad temper and the maids generally did not dare to disobey her.
Outside the villa, Iván Martínez shouted: “Irene, please forgive me! I really have nothing to do with Estrella Berrocal!”.
Irene Guillén let out a soft, mocking laugh as she finished painting her nails.
He really couldn’t be stupid enough to think that if he went to the Rouco family and made things work out for her, she would come back to him, could he?
For starters, she didn’t want to be with him anymore, not after what had happened at the wedding, and the Martinez family didn’t have the money to squeeze her, so why would she marry a loser like him?
His target now is Jonathan Tasis.
Secondly, he had gone to the Rouco family to do what he had done, and even if Roberto Rouco believed it, no one would like someone who bit his tongue.
“Irene, please give me a chance! I beg you! I really love you!”
Irene Guillén rose gracefully and slowly left the room, instructing the maid, “Show him in.”
“Yes, Miss.”
As soon as Ivan Martinez walked in, he approached her and took her hand between his, saying cheerfully, “Irene, I’ve done everything you’ve asked me to do, for the sake of my good performance this time, will you give me another chance?”
Irene Guillén withdrew her hand in disgust: “Let go of me, you’re taking the polish off my nails”.
Ivan Martinez hurriedly released her, “Irene…”
Irene Guillén blew her nail polish and said condescendingly, “Since you’ve waited so long at the door, and I’ve made it clear to you today, what’s wrong with us, it’s over, don’t come to my house anymore. My mother will be angry if she sees you.”Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Iván Martínez’s face froze: “Why, didn’t you say you would reconcile with me if I went with Roberto Rouco and exposed Estrella Berrocal for what she really was?”
“When did I ever say I would reconcile with you? I only said I’d give you a chance, but in the last two days I’ve thought about it and I think it would be better if we broke up now, and besides, I don’t like you anymore.”
Iván Martínez didn’t believe it and grabbed her by the shoulders, agitated: “Irene, you can’t do this to me! First of all, I gave up Estrella Berrocal to be with you, and now you send me with the words that we are finished?”.
Irene Guillén frowned and pushed his hand away, “Iván Martínez, you’re a man and it’s a shame to harass a woman! If it weren’t for Estrella Berrocal, we would almost be married, but now I’m grateful to Estrella Berrocal, I wouldn’t have met you if it weren’t for Estrella Berrocal.”
“Him? Who is he?”
“By the way, I might as well tell you that the man I like now, is Jonathan Tasis.”
“Jonathan Tasis?”
Irene Guillén smiled: “Do you know who Jonathan Tasis is? He’s the heir to the Tasis family, and the Tasis Group is worth hundreds, if not thousands, of times the market value of that sh*tty little company owned by your Martinez family, Ivan Martinez, can you compete?”
“Irene, I love you with all my soul, you can’t do this to me!”.
Ivan Martinez’s excessive annoyance made Irene Guillen impatient, and she coldly ordered her servants: “Have them send Sister Maria.”
With those words, she twisted her slender waist and entered the room, closing the door behind her and bolting it.
The servant said to Ivan Martinez, who stood outside the door with a frown on his face, “Mr. Ivan, it is impossible for our lady to see you again, you … must leave. Staying here doing nothing will not solve the problem.”
Ivan Martinez left Shen’s house in a funereal mood.
…
The Rouco family mansion.
During the dinner, Adán Rouco did not come down.
Paulita picked up her children’s chopsticks and puffed up her little face, “Estrella, is daddy still mad and why hasn’t he come down to have dinner with us?”
Estrella Berrocal frowned, this man, not so much, “I’ll bring your father’s dinner up later, I’m sure he’s too busy with work to come down.”
“Well, Estrella, you go, daddy will be so hungry that it hurts”.
So hungry that it hurts?
Estrella Berrocal brought up the food and went to the studio door and politely called, “Can I come in? I’ve brought up some food, would you like some?”.
The tone of voice, very pleasant.
But the man in the studio, however, returned the two words in a cold voice: “No.”
The corners of Estrella Berrocal’s mouth twitched.
She unscrewed the door and stepped inside, the man scowled at her and scolded, “Get out.”
She didn’t know where she had found the courage to answer him: “I didn’t”.
