Tears streamed down Aveline’s face, and only then did she seem to notice them. She wiped them away with her hand, then clenched her fist.

“What’s there to cry about?” she muttered.

Selena poured her a cup of honey water. “Ave, stop crying. Drink some sweet honey water and try to forget those unhappy things.”

“Thank you, Selena. I’m so grateful to have you by my side,” Aveline said, looking at her with appreciation.

If Selena hadn’t been there, Aveline really didn’t know what she would have done.

Selena replied, “I told you I’d be useful if I stayed. But you kept trying to push me away.”

“I was wrong,” Aveline said, blinking her swollen eyes, looking pitifully at her.

Selena sighed. “Alright, alright, I forgive you. Now drink the honey water and get a good night’s sleep. When you wake up, you’ll still look beautiful!”

Aveline nodded. She needed to pull herself together. Wasting so much energy on him really wasn’t worth it.

Every time she thought of his eyes, her heart ached, so she tried not to think about it.

She put down the cup and went into the bedroom. After taking a shower to wash away her exhaustion and pain, she climbed into bed. She thought she would have trouble sleeping, but she fell asleep within five minutes of laying down.

Selena stood at the door, looking at her with a heart full of sorrow.

“What is it?” Selena answered, her tone icy.

Aaron replied, “You’re my caregiver, and you ran off. When I call you, you ask me what it’s about? Miss Quin, have you forgotten what you’re supposed to be doing?”
