Drawn to You: The Billionaire’s Second Wife

Chapter 16

Xavier stood opposite the mirror smiling at his image, he loved how breathtaking the suit looks on him.

He stretched the tie and applied some quantity of cream on his hair after which he combed it to his desired style.

His eyes glanced at the bed to get his briefcase waiting for him, he walked to the bed and pulled it into his arm.

“About to leave, darling?” Lilian questioned him as she just walked into the room. She moved closer to him, taking the briefcase off his palm.

Xavier caressed her cheek trying not to pull his lips into a wide smile, there isn’t time for that anyway. His other palm dipped into her hair and she loved the feeling.

“I’m good to go, take care of yourself and everyone in this home.” He announced clearly while staring into her eyes.

Lilian snorted, she didn’t like that statement though, but there’s nothing she can do about it. “Hope the concern that I’m showing isn’t to your employee too? Anyways, I don’t have time for her.”

“You’re saying this because I didn’t get upset about your action last night huh? Why would you raise such an issue while I’m with my children, aren’t you mature enough to know how to tackle matters if I’m not around?” Xavier screeched at her.

She slapped his face and bent her head low. “But I caught her with the cloth, that’s why I was so convinced that she took the money.” She let her palm off his and sat on the bed. “I never asked you why you left after her.”

“What do you have to do with that then? I mean, after accusing your fellow woman in the presence of my children, you don’t feel remorse at all.” Xavier sighted his cellphone on the table, he would have left it behind and left. “Do you even know the pain you caused that lady? Just for you to explain everything to me privately and I’ll call her, you decided to disgrace yourself and damage someone’s identity.”

She kept glaring at Xavier, but he didn’t mind. “I think it’s much better you sack that lady, I told you earlier that I don’t need anyone in this home. Xavier, I can do everything myself.” Her eyebrows knitted.

He heaved a big sigh glaring back at her. If not that she’s his fiancee, he wouldn’t mind throwing her out of his sight instantly.

“You think it’s the best huh? Lilian, do you think it’s gonna be easier for you to babysit Chloe just like Vanessa is doing when it’s a big deal for you to prepare our meal… you leave everything to Tracy, and here you’re telling me to sack my new worker.” He hissed loudly and grabbed his suitcase again. “My little daughter will roast you in hell if she searches for her babysitter, so you better mind the way you treat that lady.”

He took a few steps to the door, whined the handle but noticed that it was locked up.

“You locked the door, Lilian. I beg you in the name of God you serve to spare me this waste of time. Unlock the door so I’ll leave, I’m almost late.” Xavier stated.

She glanced at him and looked off heading to the wardrobe.

“This is the key.” She made it visible to Xavier and then inserted it into her pocket. “I’m not unlocking the door until we’re done with our discussion Mr.”

Xavier stepped back to the bed, he couldn’t get it at all, and Lilian tells him when to leave. Meanwhile, she was still asleep when he got ready for work, Tracy prepared his breakfast even when his so-called fiancee was with him in the same building.

“What is it again Lilian, for goodness sake stop testing my patience.” He yelled at her.

She bit her lips and caressed her hair, it felt really good seeing Xavier irritated. Besides, he left the babysitter last night, and she got sad. This is his punishment for making her feel bad.

“Xavier, you are not leaving here if only if you accede to sack that lady, trust me to do that myself if you aren’t showing concern towards my feelings.” Lilian narrated.

He stepped backward grabbing the sentence she just made. “No one told you?”

She lifted her face staring at his fact, precisely, she was waiting so he would complete the statement.

“Uh-huh? I’m listening…”

He snorted and shook his head. “No one told you that laws aren’t to be taken by you? You aren’t aware that the orders in this home and my company are made by me?”

Lilian couldn’t get it, she wondered what he had in mind that was too tough for him to utter.

“Make it clear, so I’ll get what you mean,” Lilian stated.

He gasped and got seated on the sofa opposite the bed where Lilian sat.

“Lilian, you don’t have the guts to treat my workers the way you want. I employed them and I’m paying them too. They are under my control and work according to my order.” He paused and swallowed deeply. “One mistake you shouldn’t make is to threaten any of my workers, whether your gender or the opposite. Don’t even try scaring them away from their duty, talk more of sacking them with your power.”

He got on his feet. “Give me the key.” His voice sounded so commanding that Lilian didn’t hesitate to hand the key over to him.

She watched him move closer to the door and unlocked it himself, without sparing her just a glance, he dashed out of the room and left downstairs.

While he was busy unlocking the car, she caught Chloe standing at the gate staring at him. He wondered what the little girl had in mind that she was still yet to leave for school when her siblings had all left.

He couldn’t bear it anymore, so he moved towards the gate to see what was going on with her.

“Are you okay, Chloe? You don’t seem to be alright.” He referred to the little girl.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

She embraced him and broke out in tears. “Ma’am Vanessa got angry and persisted in not taking me to school.”

His eyes rolled. “But it isn’t her duty to take you to school, all she has to do is to dress you up and you leave with your siblings. What about the driver?”

“I’m not going with them, tell ma’am Vanessa to take me to school or I’ll leave for her bakery, where I’ll stay throughout the day.” Chloe narrated in tears.

He shook his head, this is getting more tough and interesting too. It’s good news that she has begotten a child that doesn’t want to let her go.

“Vanessa is back to her bakery, get into the car so I can drop you off myself.” He stated.

Chloe dashed out from the gate, he moved towards her instantly and lifted her into his arms.

“Your filthy wife accused ma’am Vanessa yesterday, and now she’s angry with me even though I know nothing about what happened. Trust me, Dad, I’ll never forgive that lady.” Chloe declared to her father’s hearing.

Xavier didn’t care to listen to everything she uttered, he made her sit comfortably in the car.

“When you’re back from school, you can meet Vanessa at her bakery and get some cupcakes for yourself.” He comforted the little girl.

She nodded while smiling. She can’t wait to be back so she will meet Vanessa and spend lots of time with her.

One thing she wouldn’t miss is taking a nap in her bakery, she isn’t gonna let her be once she’s back from school.

*************

The building became so cool and quiet like a graveyard. No sounds were heard, not even a footstep.

Lilian was the only one left at home and she loved it despite feeling lonely too. She left the bedroom and stepped down the stairs to the sitting room.

She thinks it’s better to stay there alone than in the bedroom, it’s so quiet that she doesn’t love it anymore.

Her mind began inventing everything she discussed with Xavier before he left, she didn’t find it funny.

It’s time she will take action against Vanessa’s presence in the house. Watching Xavier leave Vanessa inside Chloe’s bedroom broke her heart, she couldn’t explain how she felt at that moment.

There is a big change in Xavier. This is not the man she has been with these months, and she keeps mute towards this issue, it might result in something else.

She ought to do something, watching another lady take Xavier away from her is one thing she had sworn to never happen.

Therefore, something must be done about it. Two options left for Xavier to choose from, and one must take place or something unimagined will occur.

Once he’s back, she will seat him down in the discussion. They need to sort things out now it isn’t that deeper, before or gets out of hand.

Staying alone at home when everyone is out isn’t a great idea for her this time, she doesn’t want to be thinking about the babysitter that’s causing her lots of trouble.

But then, she needs to engage herself in everything that has to do with Xavier, and one means of getting such an opportunity is to be the manager of his company.

That’s so good. She can’t wait to tell him this, and her expectation is for Xavier to accede to it so easily.
