Enchanted Nightfall: Falling for Destiny

Chapter 314

Tyrone was so furious that he felt steam was about to burst from his nostrils; the frustration was clear in his voice as he slowly enunciated, "I've told you, it's not like that. I have something to do. I need to step out for a bit, but I'll be back soon."

Mrs. York, ever the skeptic, raised an eyebrow. "What 'something'?"

"Just, don't worry about it. I'll fill you in later."

With a sigh, Mrs. York threw her hands up. "Fine, go then. After you leave, I'll just knock on the door anyway."

Tyrone's headache intensified. Was his own mother here just to make things difficult for him?

He grabbed Mrs. York's hand and began to pull her along. "Alright, fine. You're coming with me."

After a few steps, he turned back to the trio standing by the door and warned, "If any of you even thinks about knocking just try me!"

Manny, Serena, and Wilma simultaneously shook their heads.

Ten minutes later, Tyrone parked in front of a local pharmacy, saying, "Mom, wait here in the car. I'll be right back."

Mrs. York peered at the modest pharmacy sign and chuckled. "Picking up birth control, huh?"

Tyrone's cheeks flushed. "Mom, can you just not? If you're going to play smart, at least pick the right moments."

Mrs. York snorted. "Was it your idea, or did Quintessa send you on this errand?"

"Of course, it was me." Tyrone trailed off, unable to admit he was indeed sent.

Mrs. York sighed and shook her head. "So, you were sent on an errand, huh. Oh, son, what am I going to do with you?"

Stopping in his tracks, Tyrone looked at her, feeling puzzled. "What's with that look?"

Mrs. York poked his forehead.

"You're too soft, kiddo. Being sent

Tyrone was stumped. "But there's nothing wrong with not wanting to suddenly have a kid, right?”

Mrs. York rolled her eyes. "That's

one way to see it. But it deeply implies that, son, you're not exactly priority material. Look at how disappointing that is." S

"So what should I do?"

"Ah, forget it." Mrs. York waved dismissively. "Anyway, any girl who ends up seriously falling for you would be signing up for trouble."

Dazed, Tyrone got out of the car; the outside temperature was nearing 86°F, which made him slightly lightheaded.

As he entered the pharmacy, the clerk asked, "What can I get for you, sir?"

Tyrone, lost in thought, didn't respond until the clerk repeated the question twice. "Oh, uh, what's the most effective birth control you have?"

The clerk's expression changed instantly upon fetching a box of pills.

"Don't rely on these too much. They're not great for continuous use."

Nodding absentmindedly, Tyrone paid and took the medication. At the door, he paused, turned around, and said, “Can you give me a few more, just in case?"

Mrs. York grimaced. As a woman, she couldn't help but disdain men who resorted to post-coital birth control for women. Such guys were so selfish as they enjoyed the moment but left the aftermath to the woman.
