Love is pain
As Demelza sat on the floor crying, the couple felt concerned and feared she had been abandoned by her husband.
“Are you okay, miss?” The man asked Demelza, feeling worried but Demelza did not respond; rather she remained on the floor with sorrow and sadness etched upon her face.
Unable to watch her keep crying on the floor, he helped her up and he could feel her hand trembling while he did so which got him wondering who exactly Nathan is to her.
“Do you have a way I can contact him?” she asked, looking up at the man with tears in her eyes.
“No, ma’am. I’m sorry.” He responded.
“Is there anything else I can help you with?” he asked her again.
Demelza shook her head implying no as tears cascaded down her cheek. She removed her hands from his and walked slowly away. The couple watched her with pity as she strolled away wishing there was something they could do to help but Nathan had given them a strict warning to not say anything to whoever is looking for him.
After the scandal of the accident, he made sure to bring down all the internet posts of him helping her and also rid every gossip there was about her. He wanted a fresh start and he also didn’t want her dealing with reporters’ issues when she came out of the hospital.
Demelza decided to take the stairs all the way down. She felt like she would be able to clear her thoughts by the time she got down. Her phone kept buzzing and buzzing but she paid no attention to it. She concluded it was her parents calling and texting her nonstop.
She kept strolling by the roadside thinking about everything she had with Nathan without realizing she was seriously crying.
After a while, she noticed people were staring which made her realize how much she was crying in the road like a child.
She tried to clean her tears but bumped into something hard. She looked up to see who it was and her eyes met a very fine young man.
“Heyyy, I’m really sorry. Are you okay?” The man asked her, trying to see if she was fine.
“Yes, I’m okay.” She responded by trying to walk away.
“Hold on, are you crying?” He asked her, noticing the tears on her cheek.
“No, I’m not. Leave me alone.” She said and walked away hurriedly but he still followed her.
“Hey miss, can I buy you a drink? At least until you calm down.” He requested.
“No, leave me alone.” She spat ignorantly.
“Hey, calm down.” He said, holding her back.
“Fine!” She exclaimed.
“There’s an eatery close by, we can go there.” He told her.
“Alright, whatever. She responded.
“I’m Adrian by the way.” He introduced himself.
“I’m Demelza.”
“Nice name.” He responded with a smile.
They soon got to the eatery they were walking to and Demelza looked up to pick a chair to sit.
She finally picked a chair by the corner after a few minutes of them standing. She walked towards the chair and he followed suit.
“What would you like to eat?” Adrian asked.
“Chicken and chips will do.” Demelza responded.NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
Adrian called the waiter and they both made their order. He was in-between creating a conversation with her or just letting her be in her feelings until she feels better.
He sat there staring at her and admiring how cute she looked even after crying profusely. “Are you gonna stare all day or will you say something?” Demelza asked him when his eyes almost bore a hold on her forehead.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized for making her uncomfortable.
“Stop saying sorry.” She responded irritably.
While they were at it, their food came and she noticed he had the same order with her. “I see you have the same order.”
“Yeah.” He replied to her digging into the food.
“Can I have your ketchup?” Demelza asked him.
He chuckled and handed it over to her. He was amused by her boldness but very impressed that she wasn’t shy.
She ate so fast that Adrian had to tell her to calm down so she would not choke but she unconsciously continued rushing the food.
“You’re are stress eating.” Adrian said to her for clarity.
” Mmm”
” Why?” He asked her.” You must be really upset” he added.
“I got dumped.” She responded.
“Oh, I’m sorry about that.” Adrian apologized.
” Nah, it’s calm. Plus, I just woke up from a coma. I was in an accident.” Demza added.
” Oh wow.” Adrian exclaimed, really surprised.
“Yeahhh.”
“Now, I understand .”
They talked for a while and then later left the eatery to take a walk.
Adrian made sure to help her feel way better before leaving her to go home. He felt really bad sighting her cry from a distance. In the quest to talk to her was when she bumped into him.
They talked and laughed and for a while, Demelza forgot how miserable Nathan had made her feel.
“I think you should head home now, your phone has been ringing non stop.” Adrian added but Demelza frowned her face to his talk. ” They must be worried sick about you. What if we exchange numbers so that I can check on you later.” Adrian requested.
” Sure.” Demelza responded.
They both exchanged numbers and Adrian gave her a hand shake afterwards. He was considered a comforting hug but he didn’t want to be too forward.
“I’ll see you when I see you next.” Adrian teased.
“Sure.” Demelza responded as she entered the cab Adrian had stopped for her.
They both waved to each other with a smile and Adrian stood watching her until he lost sight of her car.
She smiled all through the drive home happy she had a nice time but then, reality hit her hard as the thought of Nathan crossed her mind again.
Her brows furrowed but she tried her best not to let out a tear. She had cried enough for the day already.
“Where have you been Demelza?” Thorpes asked immediately Demelza alighted from the cab. They had been worried sick since she left and the fact that she wasn’t answering her calls vexed him the most.
“I’m fine dad.” She said to him walking inside. She refused to stop because she didn’t want to hear a word of his nags.
“Your dad is talking to you.” Harriet tried to caution her immediately she got to the house but Demelza gave them deaf ears.
She ignored the both of them, walked to her room and slammed the door right after she got in.
