Chapter 84
Third-person narrative.
“Next person,” the pack seer said as soon as Derrick returned to his position.
Devon slowly walks out to join Gina at the center of the gathering. The tension is at an all-time high, as everyone is eager to know who will be the future Alpha of the pack.
“Are you ready?” Devon asked her, and she slowly nodded her head, “Yes.”
She then tilts her head sideways to give him some space to be able to mark her.
He slowly takes out his fangs and digs deep into her skin. Gina shuts her eyes tightly as a means of trying to control the pain flowing through her body.
Devon supports her as he slowly pulls out his fangs, and like his brother, the mark slowly fades away, leaving no trace.
He is very disappointed but tries his best to stay in control of his emotions as he slowly k****s her before returning to his previous position.
This time, everyone is getting restless, as the murmurs and whispers are at an all-time high. Even the seer is confused as to what is happening and why her mate’s marks are fading off her skin.
Gina’s heart is broken all over, and this is evident in the fresh tears that flowed freely from her eyes.
As Devon returned to his spot, the seer addressed the alpha king.
“This is strange; none of the triplet’s marks have stayed on her body. I am confused as to what is happening,” admitted the seer.
“Is there anything we can do to help my first son get his wolf? So, he too can try to see whether he is chosen or not,” the alpha king suggested.
“I am sorry, my alpha, but there is nothing that I know aside from the mythology we have talked about. And you know how hard it is to find a white wolf with golden strips; it is because of its rareness that most people believe that it is impossible,” the seer said to the alpha.
“What do you suggest we do, then?” The alpha king asked his pack seer.
“As it stands, she is the only one who can decide who would become her mate and our next alpha, so I will recommend she pick any one of your sons that has marked her to become her mate,” the pack seer said to the king.
“But the prophecy said she would be mated to one of the triplets; I doubt that would work,” the alpha king reinstated.
The alpha king, just like everyone else, was getting restless as to why Gina’s body was rejecting her mate’s mark.
And more worrisome was the fact that she said she would transform into her real self, which had yet to happen.
“She has refused two of the triplet’s marks; the last one is not fit enough to become the alpha. He is wolfless, and he cannot protect the pack,” the seer said.
“Denver is not wolfless; he was poisoned while fighting for the safety of the pack,” the alpha said angrily to the pack seer.
The alpha king was slightly offended by the fact that he just referred to Denver as being wolfless.
“I am sorry, my alpha, but there is no way he can protect the pack, and how can he claim his mate when he can’t even mark her?” The pack seer said this to the already agitated alpha.
“He deserves to have a shot, and he will be given one,” the alpha king said to his elders.
“But of what use will it be to my alpha? The doctor has clearly said that he may never regain his wolf. He still has the wolf bane in his b***d, and nothing can be done to help him,” one of the pack elders said.
“Still, he deserves the chance; a little patience is all I ask,” the old king said.
His words once again sparked murmurs among the elders in the chambers.
All the while, Denver had been quiet, but hearing his father’s almost begging tone made him speak.
“I agree,” he said, and the whole chamber became quiet once again.
“I agree that Gina picks any of my brothers to be mated with,” he said in a firm voice, even though his heart was hurting badly.
There was a sudden outburst in the little crowd as the pack elders were torn between giving Denver a little time or getting Gina to pick between Devon or Derrick.
Somehow, Gina’s eyes slowly connected with Denver’s, and they held on to each other for some intense seconds.
Even though Gina was a little disappointed that Denver had already given up on working towards becoming her mate, she wasn’t going to let him make the decision. The prophecy had said that she was the one to pick her mate, not the other way around.
“I will wait,” Gina said out loud, and her voice hushed the little chaos that had formed among the elders in the chambers.
“What did you say?” The pack seer, who has been standing confused, asked.
“I will wait until Denver gets his wolf and marks me, and if it doesn’t work, only then will I do whatever you demand of me,” Gina said aloud for everyone present to hear.
Denver, who was not expecting Gina to stand up for him like that, felt a little handicapped. He took the sideways looks and little murmurs from the crowd as pity signs.
One thing he hated most in the world was being pitied, and he particularly did not like that Gina was the one creating such a situation for him.
“But the gods said that the marking had to be done today,” said the pack seer. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“There is no point in waiting; you should pick between Devon and Derrick to become your mate,” Denver said to her in a firm voice.
“You will not force me to make a decision I would rather not make; it’s either you get your wolf and mark me or your father continues his reign as the alpha king,” Gina said daringly to Denver.
At that moment, Denver was furious at Gina; he did not understand why she had to be so stubborn. Yes, it was true that her stubbornness was one of the things that lured him to her. But he wished at that moment that she just listened and did not go contrary to what had been agreed upon.
“Gina, face it, I am never getting my wolf back,” he unintentionally yelled at her.
“You will never get your wolf, or you would rather not get your wolf?” Gina questioned him, meeting his daring gaze with hers.
“That is alright. Here is my final decision: we will send out men to look for a white wolf with golden stripes whose b***d is capable of completely healing my son. Anyone who can find it will be heavily rewarded. But until then, the marking ceremony would have to be placed on hold,” the alpha king told his elders.

Later that evening, when everyone had gone back to their various homes, the triplet brothers were seen outside discussing
Denver was still angry at the fact that Gina had refused to accept one of his brothers as her mate. And despite his brothers trying to tell him that Gina did that because she loved him, he was not having it, as he felt she was just being unnecessarily unruly.
They were still chatting outside when they saw Gina come out of the palace with one of the palace drivers waiting for her by the car.
She was sexily dressed in a long black, sleeveless body-con dress that fitted her perfectly. Her makeup was nicely done, and to be honest, this would be the first time the triplets would see Gina in much makeup.
She had complemented her look with a few silver accessories and silver-heeled sandals. She had styled her hair to one side of her shoulder and was wearing a sexy red lipstick that made her lips kissable.
They all exchanged a surprised look as they didn’t have any plans to go out. Nevertheless, they all walked toward her to ask her where she was heading.
“Where are you going?” Denver, who didn’t particularly like the fact that she was going somewhere without informing them, asked
“I am going out; I won’t be back until late at night, so I don’t think you guys should stay up,” she said, not particularly talking to anyone.
Her nonchalant attitude infuriated the hell out of Denver, who was holding himself back from dragging her back into the palace.
“Who are you going to meet?” Derrick questioned.
“That should be my problem and not yours,” she said dismissively to Derrick.
“Gina, what are you doing?” Please stop,” Devon said, pleadingly.
“Wait, no one told me that I couldn’t go out. I thought that I was no longer a maid in this palace, or am I?” She questioned Devon, who did not seem to have an answer to her question.
She opened the car door and was about to enter when Denver angrily closed the door.
“Gina, get back into the house,” he ordered, his daring gaze
“I will not; I will go out just like I have made plans for, and you cannot stop me. Wait, what am I saying? You don’t even have what it takes to stop me, or do you?” She said it to him with a nonchalant attitude.
And before he could reply to her, she had opened the car door and sat down while ordering the driver to drive off.
Denver was furious; he felt his entire body had been set on fire, and he was raging mad.
“I guess we have to wait for her to come back from wherever she has gone,” Derrick, who had been silently watching his brother’s every move and mood, casually suggested.
His words were like gasoline added to a raging fire as Denver turned sharply to look at him with bloodshot eyes.
“What are you saying? She is our mate. She is ours and ours alone,” Denver ranted out in rage.
Before Derrick could say anything, Denver sprinted to his room to get his car keys and came out within seconds to get into his car.
Not waiting for his brothers, he got into his car, started it, and zoomed off.
His brothers were worried and since they were not sure of what his action was going to be, they both got into one of their cars and zoomed right after him.
