Chapter 445

As they left the Starlight International Group building, Beatrice nagged, “Mom, why’d you let that

woman get the upper hand? She’s now Mrs. Whitfield and also the Chairman of Starlight International

Group. How can we deal with her in the future? Mom, why did you sign? When will you deal with

Agnes, I can’t wait anymore.”

Laura was really peeved by Beatrice’s complaints and snapped, “Shut it! I’m stressed out too. You

think not signing means Starlight International Group won’t go bankrupt? I don’t believe she’s that

capable. I’m just not sure who’s got her back – the Tim Group or Century Entertainment.”

Hearing this, Beatrice became even more pissed.

What’s so special about Agnes that even Ivan valued her so much?

Inside the President’s office at Starlight International Group.

Agnes sat in her chair, running her hand over the edge of the desk.

The desk had seen some years, its surface was as smooth as if it had been waxed.

Agnes remembered playing here as a kid.

She loved hiding under this desk playing hide–and–seek with her dad.

Even though she was clearly hiding in one place, her dad would always pretend not to find her.

“So, how does it feel to be the Chairman of Starlight International Group?” Ivan asked with a smile.

Snapping back to reality, Agnes responded, “I want to thank you especially for this.”

A long time ago, Agnes and Ivan had planned it all.

They registered Noya Media in Ivan’s name.

Then they quietly bought shares in Starlight International Group.

Then Agnes was appointed as the Chairman of Starlight International Group.

But the truth was, the offer from Nova Media was really high, it was a loss for Century Entertainment.

To make it up to Ivan, Agnes gave away her 20% stake in Starlight International Group to Century

Entertainment for free. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

So in other words, Century Entertainment bought Starlight International Group.

Agnes was just a figurehead chairman.

Ivan was the majority shareholder of Starlight International Group.

Agnes didn’t really know much about business.

She was just there as a figurehead chairman to shock Laura and Beatrice.

Ivan sauntered over and casually leaned on the nearby couch, “Why thank me? You gave away so

many shares, Century Entertainment made a killing. Though Starlight’s business model is outdated, a

little restructuring and it could rise again. Are you really okay with it becoming a subsidiary of Century

Entertainment?”

“It’s better than selling it to some random people who might change its name. I’m grateful that you kept

the name Starlight International Group,” Agnes said earnestly.

Ivan crossed his arms, “Like I said, Agnes, I’m just temporarily managing Starlight International Group.

You can take it back whenever you want.”

Agnes shook her head, “Let’s keep business separate, Ivan. I know you’ve already helped me a lot.

Everyone was steering clear of Starlight International Group thinking it was beyond saving. You took a

big risk buying it, and I’m really grateful. So, let’s not talk about giving it back. Starlight International

Group now belongs to Century Entertainment, those shares are yours. Even if I want to buy it back one

day, I’ll pay a fair price, I won’t shortchange you.”

Ivan smiled, “Then I’ll wait for you.”

He stood up, stretched, and said, “The reaction from that mother–daughter duo today was really

satisfying. Agnes, come over for dinner tonight to celebrate. Mamie has the day off.”

Agnes happily agreed, “Sure, I’ve missed Mamie.”
