Chapter 467

Agnes bolted into the hospital room.

Preston had indeed woken up.

He tilted his head slightly, his eyes slowly opening.

Agnes stood at the door, her vision blurred by instant tears.

But then Preston slowly raised a hand.

Agnes rushed over, grabbing one of Preston’s hands, “Dad.”

She was choked by tears as she finished speaking.

Preston’s breathing was weak, each breath seemingly taking all his strength.

“Agnes, don’t cry,” Preston mustered all his strength to say.

Though his voice was weak and you had to listen closely to make out what he was saying.

But then Preston forcibly removed his oxygen mask.

Agnes tried to stop him, “Dad, what are you doing?”

Preston seemed to take a deep breath, then calmed down, “Girl, I want to talk to you.”

Agnes looked at Preston.

The joy she felt when she first found out he woke up was gradually fading.

Instead, an inexplicable worry and fear took over.

Preston was awake, but he seemed off.

Agnes wanted to call for a doctor.

But Preston held her hand, “Girl, just talk to me.”

In the end, Agnes sat down, “Dad, you just woke up, you need to rest.”

Preston seemed to be slowly recovering, his words became clearer after removing the oxygen mask,

“Agnes, all the things you’ve been telling me, I heard them.”

Agnes was stunned.

She had been talking to Preston every day.

She had told him many things; about her life from childhood till now.

She had spoken so much, without getting any response.

She thought it was just a way to express her feelings.

But she didn’t expect that Preston could hear her.

“Agnes, I owe you an apology.”

Agnes tightly held Preston’s hand, saying, “Dad, let bygones be bygones. As long as you get better, I

forgive you. We’ll live a good life together from now

on.”

Preston’s voice was weak, but there seemed to be a hint of a smile, “Agnes, my body can’t take it

anymore, I’m going to meet your mom.”

Agnes‘ heart ached, “No, that’s not possible, Dad. You’ve woken up, you’ll get better. You need to rest

now.”

Preston shook his head, “I’ve slept enough. I don’t want to sleep anymore, I want to hear you talk.”

Agnes‘ voice was weak, “Alright, I’ll talk more. But promise me you’ll hang on. The doctor will be here

soon.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

Preston smiled, “Having you as my daughter, I have no regrets. I just feel sorry for you and your mom.”

“Dad, stop talking,” Agnes felt something was off.

Preston’s gaze started to fade.

“Dad, don’t scare me,” Agnes hurriedly put the oxygen mask back on Preston. “Dad, don’t sleep, don’t

leave me, okay?”

Agnes had a bad feeling.

She feared that if Preston fell asleep now, he might never wake up.

But she couldn’t accept this.

She was so overjoyed because her father had finally woke up. She was extremely happy.

Preston’s voice was a bit fuzzy, “Agnes, you must be happy, promise me, be happy. Don’t dwell on the past anymore…
