Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 536

Chapter 536

In the Thomas family, Beatrice was in the dressing room trying on dresses.

Laura walked in.

Beatrice quickly turned around, asking, “Mom, what do you think of this stargazing–themed gown? I’m planning to wear it to the birthday party tomorrow.” Beatrice’s dressing room was huge.

“You know, if people found out you had dozens of gowns custom–made just for a birthday party, they

might think you’re too extravagant. All these years of building up your image could be ruined

overnight.”

Hearing this, Beatrice casually responded while trying on the gown in front of the mirror, “Mom, you’re

being too cautious. It’s just a few dresses, and they weren’t made in my name, no one’s going to

care.”

Beatrice twirled around in the star–studded gown, “Mom, how does it look? Do you think Jared will like

it?”

Laura sighed.

Over the years, her daughter had finally managed to shake off her past and start anew.

But she still couldn’t forget that man.

Laura looked at Beatrice’s much–changed face and sighed again.

Sometimes, even she found it hard not to get confused by her own daughter’s face.

Not to mention others..

Once, Beatrice had a car accident, in which she was severely injured. Her face was disfigured, and

several of her ribs were fractured.

Beatrice then went abroad for plastic surgery, which took half a year.

When she returned, Laura was shocked.

Beatrice had completely changed her face to look extremely similar to Agnes.

Sometimes Laura feels like she’s looking at Agnes when she sees her daughter.

It made her very uncomfortable.

But Beatrice loved her new face.

Over the years, she has made multiple adjustments to look as much like Agnes as possible.

Now, when Laura looks at Beatrice, she can barely tell them apart.

Beatrice touched her face in the mirror and said, “Did you know, this dress was modeled after the one

Agnes wore to an award ceremony. It was a gift from Jared back then. Now that I’m wearing it, he’ll

definitely take a second look.”

Laura couldn’t help but say, “Beatrice, snap out of it! You’re copying Agnes in every way, wearing her

clothes, eating her favorite food, but what’s the point? Jared is getting engaged to Valeria Thomas. You

couldn’t even compete with Agnes back then, let alone Valeria. Beatrice, listen to me, let go of the past

and start over. Jared is not the only man left in the world!”

Beatrice turned around, “Mom, haven’t you noticed that Jared’s attitude towards me has changed over

the years? I don’t believe he truly loves Valeria, their engagement is just a business arrangement. AndRêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Sharon, the woman who’s been by his side all these years, isn’t she just around because she looks a

bit like Agnes? If we’re talking about resemblance, no one looks more like Agnes than I do.”

Beatrice gently caressed her face, “Agnes is gone, but Jared hasn’t forgotten her. No one can replace

her like I can, and I’m fine with being a replacement. I believe that he’ll become more and more

dependent on me. I once said that I would take Mrs. Whitfield’s place, whether it takes five or ten years,

I will get there.”

Laura was helpless about Beatrice’s obsession with Jared. She knew Beatrice was too far gone to pull

herself out.

No matter what she said, Beatrice wouldn’t listen.

Laura said, “Don’t be too optimistic. We don’t even know if he will show up.”

Beatrice replied, “He will come, I have my ways.”
