Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 587

Chapter 587

Agnes hopped in the car.

The car entered a residential area and drove straight up a separate driveway to a swanky mansion.

The mansion was all lit up.

As they got off, Babur said to Agnes, “Mr. Albert won’t be around for the next couple of days, but no

worries, we got 16 nannies on standby just for the little master. You can chill.”

Agnes didn’t bother asking where Reggie had gone.

Being a big shot, Reggie’s schedule was always a secret.

But, having 16 nannies seemed a bit overkill.

Agnes got into the mansion and headed straight upstairs.

Guided by the butler, she arrived at Nocturne’s room.

Nocturne was deep in dreamland.

He was always a silent sleeper.

He always slept on his left side.

To be honest, Nocturrie’s sleeping habits were quite similar to Jared’s.

Jared was also a left–side sleeper.

Agnes sat by the bed, gently stroking Nocturne’s soft hair.

She finally felt her anxious heart settling down a bit.

For her, Nocturne was like a soothing pill for her anxiety.

But when Agnes looked at Nocturne’s face, something seemed off.

His cheeks were flushed.

Agnes quickly put her hand on Nocturne’s forehead.

His forehead was boiling.

Nocturne was running a high fever.

This was a recurring issue for Nocturne.

If he slept for too long, he would often get a fever.

The more he had a fever, the longer he slept. It was a vicious cycle.

Just then, one of the nannies looking after Nocturne came in.

Agnes immediately asked, “How long has he been asleep?”

“The young master has been asleep for 22 hours.”

Normally, if Nocturne slept more than 18 hours, it was a red flag.

The nanny also noticed Nocturne’s abnormality and anxiously said, “Ms. Pritchard, the young master

was perfectly fine just now, and he didn’t have any fever, how could…”

Agnes cut her off, “It’s not your fault. But we need to get to the hospital, pronto.”

Nocturne’s weird illness was like that, either no fever or it got really bad.

Ryder once summed up this condition as neurogenic fever..

Usually, physical cooling was no good for Nocturne.

Now he was deep in sleep, couldn’t take any medication, an injection at the hospital was the only

way.

Babur’s car didn’t even stop in the parking lot, and it just left the mansion directly.

Finally, they arrived at Prestige Medical Center.

At this point, Agnes couldn’t care less about anything else.

Nocturne once had pneumonia due to a high fever while in deep sleep, which took about half a year for

him to recover.

Now with Nocturne’s high temperature, Agnes couldn’t be sure of the situation.

They had to rush to the emergency room.

But Agnes didn’t expect to run into an acquaintance there.

Kerri Bradford looked just as surprised to see Agnes.

However, they didn’t have time for pleasantries, Agnes quickly explained the situation.

It was total chaos.

Nocturne had a high fever. The doctor prescribed medicine, but he needed an IV.

The IV room was chock–a–block, Kerri suggested, “Let’s go to my rest dorm.”

Next to the ER was a doctor’s rest room, where shift doctors sometimes rested.

So, there was a bunk bed inside.

Agnes followed Kerri and entered the room, only to find a little boy playing games on the bed.

Agnes was slightly taken aback.

Kerri casually said, “This is my son, Sprague Bradford.”

Then she said to her son, “Sprague, stop playing with your phone and go sleep on the top bunk, leave

the bottom one free.”

Sprague looked up, climbed down from the bed.

He walked straight to Agnes and asked, “Who’s the pretty lady?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“This is Agnes, she’s a good friend of mine.”

“Hello, Ms. Agnes.”

“Hello.”

Agnes hadn’t expected that Kerri would have a son, and one that was about the same age as

Nocturne.
