“THE VERY FIRST DAY I MET YOU RITA, I LOVE YOU” SAID FINN

Rita’s POV

Without our consent, he sat with us; the only available seat was next to me, opposite Evelyn.

He sat next to me! I could hear my heart throbbing!!

“Hi” Finn said again, surprisingly, he was smiling cheerfully.

We three greeted him perfunctorily and in a somewhat fearful murmur.

“I came to say what a great work you’ve done. I saw how we had so many clients miling into your department. And I must say, that section in the company does the most work” Finn said.

“Unfortunately, we are under estimated” Evelyn replied informally. “Boss” She then added.

She seems free with him as he was with her. I noticed Adam was jealous. Him and I just sat down there and said absolutely nothing.

“Nope. An increase in salary will do. At least, almost the same as what those in the official section receive. You have just admitted that we are doing a better and harder job than they are” Evelyn said and Finn laughed.

“I can see you’ve got the gut to talk to me unlike your friends” He looked at me but I looked away.

“I am sorry” Evelyn apologized.

“No, No, it’s fine. I have known you to be an outspoken person and I love that” Finn said.

“While then, the meek one gets treated badly for being quiet? I see” Adam interfered brusquely.

“I.. I.. I’m only being silent right now because I.. I… I don’t wanna get on your nerves” I stuttered in a murmur.

“Mrs Blakeston never showed anyone of us a preferential attention neither did we ever had an intimate interaction with her but as for you, you’re our peer group or maybe just a little older. Listen, I’ll talk back at you if that’s what it means to fight for love” Adam stood up and fired at Finn confidently.

“What’s he talking about?” Finn ignored Adam and faced Evelyn to give him some proper explaination.

“I.. I’ll apologise on his behalf. Please forgive him, he didn’t mean to talk to you in such manner” Evelyn pleaded.

“Evelyn!” Adam shunned.

“He is still our boss no matter what, he’ll fire you if you continue this way!” Evelyn snapped back at him.

“Does being a boss give him the authority to snatch you from me?” Adam said back.

I could see he was jealous of Finn taking Evelyn away from him but Evelyn was only playing all nice and sweet to Finn because he’d complimented such behavior.

“Snatch her from you?” Finn repeated, confused kind of.

“Evelyn is my girlfriend. So stop being all sweet and romantic towards her” Adam continued to bark.

Finn laughed hysterically and shook his head disappointedly.

Finn ignored Adam, faced me and said “Rita Martinez, make sure you come see me personally before you go home” With that, he stood up and left.

“What’s wrong with you Adam? Finn is not flirting with me. He came here to talk to Rita” Evelyn cautioned her boyfriend.

“Then he should have done that right away. I can’t just watch you chit chat with him in front of me” He said.

“You are only over reacting!”

“You think I am over reacting!”

“You are!!”

They were quarreling in front of me all because of Finn, I had to interfere.

“Stop it already guys!” I almost screamed and they kept quiet immediately.

“You are not the problem Adam, you didn’t mean any harm neither are you at fault Evelyn! So stop fighting” I pleaded, although I was more worried about why Finn want me to see him.

I checked the time on my phone; “Recess period is over, let’s get back to work” I announced.

We left the cafeteria together.

Soon, it was closing hours, I was tied down with work since we returned from the cafeteria, so I didn’t have the chance to go see Mr Finn. I summoned up courage to go now, he’ll be very mad if I don’t show up at all.

“I guess you guys have to leave without me” I waved them, Bye.

“Be good okay?” Evelyn pulled me for a warm hug.

But deep down, I was scared, several thoughts ran into my head wondering what Mr Finn Lakston is up to this time around.

I watched them leave and others too; in no time the office became almost scanty.

I went to Finn’s office, peeped on him first and noticed that he was done with his stuffs, he was already packing up his briefcase and ready to leave any minute from now, so I knocked gently and rushed in to meet him.

“I’m here” I announced my presence.

He stopped what he was doing and looked at me like he wasn’t expecting me, so I quickly reminded him; ” You.. you said I should come see you before I leave”

“Hmmm yeah, I know I did” He smiled, I’m sure it was a mischievous one.

He gestured; “Sit. Be comfortable”

I obeyed, trembling as he came to sit right in front of me, on his table.

My heart almost jumped out, it was racing.

“Be calm Rita. I won’t hurt you, I promise” He spoke innocently.

I didn’t say anything also, I avoided eye contact with him.

“Oh! Or maybe I must have hurt you indirectly. I am very sorry” Finn apologized,

I couldn’t believe my ears.

He sighed heavily because I still didn’t utter a word.

“I swear, I’m jovial, sweet and friendly. I still got the characteristics of the Finn you met first before I became your CEO. I didn’t mean to treat you badly, I guess I was only trying to prove I’m the boss but it turned out the wrong way. I.. I swear, I only wanted to be your friend right from day one” Through the corner of my eyes, I could see him looking into my eyes.

“The very first day I met you, I love the aura I get when I’m around you and it’s making me wanna be with you by all means. I… I thought being all harsh and bossy will bring you closer to me but it doesn’t look like it. I.. I.. I think you hate me now” He said.

Involuntarily, I blinked severally, still speechless to say the least.

“Say something Rita” He pleaded.

“I… I wanna go home” was what came out of my mouth.

I stood up quickly and rushed towards the door.

“No! Don’t leave. Wait up!” Finn ordered before I could turn the door knob.

He got off the table and stroded over to where I stood, still trembling.
