Twenty Two
JAX’S POV
One hour earlierOriginal content from NôvelDrama.Org.
I sauntered into the black limousine that was parked in waiting for me and my personal assistant who ambled behind me.
I was lavishly dressed, claded in a white expensive tuxedo and a matching trouser. My hair was sleek, set to cascade down to the nape of my neck and not a single hair was out of place. Various rings hugged my fingers and an expensive chain hung around my neck. My expensive cologne glued on to me like a second skin, feeling the air with its heavenly scent wherever I went to.
I really looked like a man of authority and just the thought got me smiling.
“Good evening sir” the chauffeur greeted me as he pulled open the doors for I and my personal assistant.
I passed him a nod and a smile which he acknowledged.
I sat down in one of the leather seats, the air conditioning had its system reignited as the cool breeze settled on me, making me relaxed and comfortable.
Although I wasn’t exactly excited to attend this event, irregardless of the fact that prestige was attached to the names of the organizing company, partners and other guests, I just had to go because I wanted to see the one person I had been desiring to meet for such a long time.
Today was the Lester corporation ltd shareholders event, if not for the desire of my father; Leo storms, I wouldn’t even bother attending the shareholders meeting but I have to, because of my father
He obliged me to attend for business reasons. He had organised a meeting for I and Mr Lester.
And I knew fully well that attending that meeting would add to the prestige of my father’s company.
Additionally, I suspected that Janis Walter was going to be present at this event and that drove my motive for attending this event.
Most of the top CEOs were going to be in arrival which included Janis Walter. There was no way she would miss such an event especially knowing that high classed business men would be around.
It was going to be a massive event, one I wouldn’t miss for anything particularly because of my son. Nothing in me wanted a sweet soft reunion with Janis, I just wanted to know where my son is and I also wanted custody of him.
How I suspected that Janis Walter would be present at the event? Simple, the Walters are partners and shareholders of the Lester corporation, they possess one the smallest portions of shares.
They wouldn’t miss such an event.
We hit the road to the event, my eyes were carefully examining pictures of Walter family and I was particularly interested in the images of Janis Walter. I eagerly searched for a picture of my son but unfortunately I couldn’t find any.
I needed to see my son so badly. Still scrolling, my eyes crossed the image of Stravis Walter and an overflow of anger coursed through me.
I hate her even more than I hate Janis, recalling the incident that happened two and a half years ago when I visited their home to see my son.
She stepped out of the house, met me and totally humiliated me. She rated me poorly and tagged my clothes as rags.
I felt so ashamed and at the same time I was determined to get wealth. Her spiteful and degrading words left me hungry to make money and throw it in her face.
Because that was all they did–they threw money in my face and insulted me because I wasn’t as rich as they were.
On the bright side, if it wasn’t for all the humiliation and insults that shattered me, I wouldn’t have finally met my father.
I’m so grateful I met him and now I’m even richer those who looked down on me. The Walters look up to Leo storms because he is bigger than them and that also means I am now bigger than them and they must look up to me.
In no time we had arrived at the venue. The chauffeur rushed and pulled the door for me to step out.
The sould of my shoe married the red carpet placed beneath me.
I stepped out of the car and my eyes caught the noisy and eager paparazzi. They flashed cameras and held microphones.
Walking towards the paparazzi in my all white tuxedo, my ears welcomed different questions thrown by the paparazzi.
“Where is Mr Storms right now?”
“Are you representing Mr Storms at this event?”
“What is the latest deal signed by the LC corporations?”
Their loud questions irritated me slightly but I chose to ignore them all, bodyguards stood at the entrance of the huge building.
They opened up the door and I meandered in whilst fixing my eyes on the beautiful bright chandeliers that shun brightly in the large hall.
So many personalities of high caliber where present at the event.
“Mr Storms” a young shareholder walked up to me and we shook hands respectfully.
My interests were far from mere greeting and socializing, I need to find Janis Walter and get some information about my son.
A part of me wants to humiliate her like she and her sister did but a bigger part of me just needed information about my son.
Humiliating them will not be exempted from my plans but I wouldn’t rush into that.
I hate the Walters with everything in me, I just can’t believe I have to father a child that came from that family.
Soft slow classical music played and just then my eyes caught sight of the music band that played so passionately somewhere in the big hall. The hall was oozing beauty and elegance.
The atmosphere really depicted world-class wealth. Lester corporation always stood out when it came to showcasing wealth and prosperity. I peered my head round the crowd to see if Janis Walter was somewhere in the hall but I couldn’t sight her.
“Are you sure Janis Walter would be here?” I glanced at my secretary.
“They will be here sir, information reached me that they would attend the event” he replied.
Maybe I’m the one that’s not looking hard enough. I walked further in the calm and not-so-clustered crowd. So many greetings were thrown at me, so many people came and shook hands with me.
I reciprocated the greeting and stood for a while with some of the partners and shareholders of Lester corporation before ambling my way to the toilet.
I needed a break from all the greetings and chit chats, I just needed to find Janis Walter and get information about my son.
I stared into the mirror, pondering so deeply about my aim on finding Janis. She would pay for all this.
She and her family looked down on me when I had nothing, now I have everything and it’s my turn to leave her humiliated.
I ambled my way out of the toilet to meet more wealthy men and women of the elite class.
Holding my cocktail, I sipped it and peered my eyes into the crowd again.
I was anxiously waiting for this Walters, I mustn’t leave this shareholders meeting without meeting Janis and hearing about my son.
I didn’t know how long I had pushed myself through the crowd but I could not spot any profile of Janis Walter or even Stravis Walter.
It felt like they weren’t even in attendance.
Everything felt so fruitless. Fuck. This night wasn’t going exactly how I planned it.
How could the Walters miss such an event? They know how much they needed to be in attendance as a result of the little shares they possessed in the Lester Corporations.
Nothing was making sense.
I groaned within me and heaved a deep sigh.
A woman accidentally bumped into me from behind and her drink spilled over my white tuxedo.
Fuck. I pressed my lips in annoyance, ignoring the lady who rambled an apology to me.
“I can definitely get you a new one if that will make you feel better” I heard her distinct voice say and my eyes widened.
That tone seemed so distinct. I’ve heard such a voice before. I quickly spurned around and my gaze landed on Janis Walter herself.
On seeing me, she lets out a gasp and becomes glued to the spot.
Triumph surged within me and I was as happy as a lark.
I only knew of one person that could flaunt wealth in such manner and hearing how she chose to apologise quickly got my instinct tingling.
I just knew the Walters couldn’t afford to miss this function. They needed it for the growth of their company.
Janis stared at me with goo-goo eyes and her lips were practically hanging open.
A smug smile appeared on my lips as I watched her drool over me. The look on her face right now was priceless.
“What were you saying?” I mocked her, trying so hard to stifle back my laugh.
Her eyes fed in on my appearance.
No doubt, she wasn’t expecting to meet me here and by the look of things, she didn’t know I was a close associate to the Lesters.
The MC had announced my status to Mr Lester on my arrival but Janis here was moping at me so I doubt she knew I was a very influential person here.
I wonder how she would react knowing that I was in touch with Mr Lester? Just the thought gave me beaming smiles.
“I thought you were apologising for spilling the wine on me Miss Janis Walter?” my husky voice held her name, mockery ringing in my tone.
“I–I was. Uhm…. sir… I’m…” Janis stuttered like a child.
Fuck. This was exhilarating.
I’ve always waited for this day to come and it’s now here.
The almighty Janis Walter was left speechless by my transformation and reappearance that she could barely speak.
She just kept on speaking gibberish like a child.
Adding salt to her injury, right in her presence, I was informed that I had a meeting with Mr Lester.
Janis had her eyes buldging out on hearing that. She never expected it.
I know how badly the Walters wanted to secure a meeting with Mr Lester but couldn’t and now Janis just witnessed Mr Lester requesting to meet me.
I love this but I hated how quiet and dazed she was. I needed her to talk so I took the first step and addressed her rudely.
Janis was taken aback by my rude countenance towards her and immediately found her tongue.
“Mr Jax Storms, Can’t you recognise me? I’m Janis Walter. I’m the woman you had a one night stand with years back. Can’t you recall?” She questioned with hiked brows.
I chucked deeply at her question. “Can you really remember who I am Miss Janis Walter?” I asked a question in reply.
I wanted to hear her ask me what I was doing in an event for the rich and belittle me like before. I was itching to show her how wealthy I was now. I wanted her to cower in fear of my authority and power but instead Janis flashed me a warm smile.
“Of course. We had a one night stand together. How can I ever forget” she smiled. I kept mude, wondering why she was putting up a nice farcade.
“You look so good. Honestly. You look so uhm classy and rich. What happened to you? What were you up to throughout the two years we lost contact?” Janis inquired, happiness saturated all over face.
She was trying to be nice but it irked me and infuriated me. I wasn’t in for all these trash. I came here for my son, not to build bonds with her.
“Cut the charade Janis. We aren’t on friendly terms and we’ve never been on friendly terms. Don’t act like you care about me because you never did. I just came here so I can get to know the whereabouts of my son. Where is my son Janis?” I spat unforgivingly at her.
