Chapter 274
Chapter 274
Angeline guessed it right. The news about Hanson that suddenly broke out had indeed affected Yiurk Group.
In just one night, their shares had plummeted.
Many people were dissatisfied with the news, and they began wreaking havoc at the stores under Yiurk Group.
It did not take long for the stores to close down. And with the sudden investment withdrawals from the investors, Yiurk Group's finances were greatly affected.
The higher-ups gathered for a meeting that very night and began criticizing Hanson.
In order to defuse the situation, Hanson had no choice but to promise the higher-ups he would settle the matter within three days without affecting their profit.
Only then did those sly foxes let him off for the time being.
Of course, they were not the type who would let tilings slide so easily. They were all waiting to see him mess up and seize Yiurk Group when the deadline came.
After the incident, Hanson could not sleep that night. He stayed at the company to the point that there was stubble on his chin.
Knock, knock!
Suddenly, there was a knock on the office door, and in came Lilian with a document in her hand.
“Mr. Yiurk, I've gathered the information as instructed. However, I've made a rough estimation, and it looks like the total of immovable properties under your name aren't enough to cover the losses,” she said.
The color drained from Hanson's face when he heard tliat. He rested his forehead on his hands and said weakly, “Okay. Just leave it on the table.”
“No matter how difficult tilings are, you should still get some rest, Mi’. Yiurk. You haven't been getting enough sleep for some time.”
Hanson shut his dry eyes and muttered hoarsely, “I can't sleep. Anyway, have you called all our business partners?”
“Yes, Mr. Yiurk.” Lillian nodded. “It's just that those who are extremely powerful gave ambiguous answers when they heard our company was in trouble. I didn't dare to call them again.”
"Okay.”
Hanson's eyes were filled with exhaustion as he furrowed his brows and thought of a way to resolve the matter.
Seeing tliat, Lillian pursed her lips. She, too, felt conflicted.
After all, Hanson was currently in a tough situation.
Not only did he have to endure the public's criticisms, but he also had to deal with the old-timers.
If he failed to come up with a solution to cover the losses, the hard work he had put in would be all for nothing.
Right then, Lilian suddenly thought of one person.
Her face lit up with joy, and she said hurriedly, “Oh, right, Ms. Sorelle called me when she heard about what happened to you.
She says she wants to meet you. Apparently, she wants to talk to you regarding a business.”
“Why didn't you tell me that sooner?”
Hanson's eyes brightened, and his sullen expression faded a little.
With an innocent gaze, Lillian said, “You've been busy all this while, so I didn't dare to bother you. It just came to my mind.”
Hanson knitted his brows, but he did not scold her. Instead, he lifted his hand and glanced at his watch. “Get the car ready. I'm going to Forrester Group.”
Lillian quickly followed behind him. “I'll go with you, Mr. Yiurk.”
Hanson merely glanced at her without saying anything. All he thought was tliat she could be of help and that bringing her along would not be a big deal.
At Forrester Group, Angeline was still busy at work although it was already noon.
Ever since Sebastian was discharged from the hospital, Angeline could not bear to leave him alone at home. She brought him along wherever she went.
At the same time, Nancy had reduced her workload ever since her relapse on the cruise ship. She would occasionally pop by the office to entertain Sebastian.
Although Angeline was officially appointed as the director, many employees secretly resented her.
A very good example would be the director of tire design department in Forrester Group, Steven Jenkins. On the surface, he looked kind and approachable, but he was actually against every idea
Angeline had.
Angeline had originally wanted to ride on Forrester Group's popularity to launch a set of matching outfits for parents and children.
Based on her observation, Forrester Group had always launched high-end female clothing, which many females could not afford.
Entering tire market of common citizens would allow them to feel cared for.
Alas, after looking at tire designs sent by the company several times, she found they were all the same and nothing special to them.
On top of tliat, Steven, who believed Angeline was nitpicking, would enter her office with the designs and pick a fight with her.
“Ms. Sorelle, although you became an authoritative figure in Forrester Group thanks to your mother, this is not a reason for you to fool around!”
At tliat time, Nancy was drawing in the office to keep Sebastian company. The way Steven suddenly barged in gave Sebastian a fright.
Frowning, Angeline eyed Steven and responded in a displeased tone, ‘Tm only giving my opinion. Why are you making such a huge fuss? Is it because you don't have confidence in your own work?”
Steven scoffed. “Ms. Sorelle, stop diverting my attention. Everyone on my team is a graduate of the design school. We have a professional judgment on clothing. You, on the other hand, are just an actress with a terrible reputation—”
Utterly furious, Nancy could not help but rebuke, “Hey! Watch your mouth. So what if Angeline's an actress? I think she's achieved more than any of you. Where exactly are you getting tliis sense of superiority from?”
Steven's face turned crimson red when he heard her words. He firmed, “Who the heck are you? How dare you interrupt us so rudely? This is our company's business. What does it have to do with you?”
“I don't care. I want to get involved. What are you going to do about it?” Nancy snapped, looking not the slightest bit fearful of him.
Angeline had no choice but to step in. “That's enough. Stop arguing.”
Nancy rolled her eyes, but she stopped talking for Angeline's sake.
However, it only spiked Steven's anger. He slammed tire documents on the table and spat, “My department has edited tliis draft five times. If you're still not satisfied with it, that only shows you don't understand fashion.”
Angeline scowled and questioned calmly, “So, what do you want?”
With a threatening gaze, Steven said, “The design department won't make any more edits. If you're really capable, then you should handle it yourself. Ms. Sorelle, surely you know the saying about relationships being useless when it comes to money? Unless you can double our pay, why should we play along with your games?” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
The only reason he's tliis mad is because of one motive. He wants a raise.
However, Steven's salary was the highest in Forrester Group. On top of tliat, he had special treatment in terms of commission, which was rare for a company to grant such a high rate.
Even so, a person would never be satisfied with what they had.
The fact that Steven dared to cause such a ruckus was because he believed Angeline was not professional enough and would not be able to come up with a solution.
