Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 51~ Action plan

Meanwhile, Ryan narrowed his eyes at the man who was smiling at Lora and his sister. He beckoned his assistant over and asked, "What is that man doing here? Who invited him?" Lawrence glanced at where Ryan was pointing. He smiled and replied, "That's Aiden Davis, the CEO of Protech Company Limited. You told me to invite all CEO's, Sir." 'Aiden Davis?'

Ryan asked in his mind and then it hit him... Jack Davis had a younger brother who was very young. It seemed he had mistakenly gotten jealous for nothing.... Aiden was Lora's uncle.

He let out a sigh of relief before someone came over to chat with him about business. However, the whole time that he was engaged in a conversation, he couldn't keep his eyes off Lora. There was just something about her that drew him in like a moth is drawn to a flame. Lora looked so beautiful in the sapphire dress... She looked like a goddess who had no job being on this dirty earth.

At the same time, Celeste and her daughter, Isabella sat at one of the round tables and discussed about Lora.

"Mom, are you sure she's not Larisa? They look so much alike," Isabella asked.

They were shocked when they saw Lora at the party. How was it possible for her to look like someone who had died six years ago?

Celeste glanced at Lora and saw how Ryan kept looking at her from a distance. Ivy was seated in a wheelchair alone, completely abandoned by Ryan.

She laughed and replied, "If she's Larisa, do you think Ryan would sit and watch her from a distance? He would confront her about her identity and why she faked her death."

"You're right, Mom. Perhaps they just look alike but Ryan seems to be interested in her," Isabella remarked.

"That's because she looks like his dead wife. These Kingsley men are all the same... they stay in love with ghosts. Your father is like that too. He can't forget his damned dead wife," Celeste hissed, a flash of hatred flickering through her eyes. "Does it mean Ivy is no longer useful in our plan?" Isabella asked.

Celeste frowned, thinking about her daughter's words. She remarked, "We need to tell him about this."

Isabella nodded and replied, "Yes we should... perhaps Lora would be of much help to us than Ivy."

The mother and daughter glanced at each other, a tacit understanding settling between them.

On the other hand, Lora was kept busy by the guests at the party. Many people came to greet and congratulate her.

Others were interested in striking a deal with Davis & Co., so they talked to her, hoping to secure an appointment with her. Lora was kept so occupied that she didn't even have time to be with Jason.

When the party was over, Jason took Lora home. On their way, Lora glanced at him and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Jay. I didn't get to spend time with you and was so busy."

Jason gave Lora a side glance and smiled. He replied, "Don't worry, I understand. You're a CEO and you need to make connections. I'm here to support you all the way."

Lora felt warm at Jason's response and guilt crept into her. Any man would have been upset after what happened at the event. However, just like always, Jason was kind and supportive.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at Lora's apartment. Lora sighed and said, "Thank you for bringing me home. Have a good night."

"Goodnight to you too, I love you," Jason replied.

Lora smiled at Jason awkwardly and left the car, his last words hanging between them.

When she went up to her apartment, she found the twins waiting for her in the living room.

"Mommy, you're back!" Ella squeaked and rushed towards Lora.

Lora smiled and crouched down to hug Ella. She glanced at Ethan and said, "Aren't you going to hug Mommy?"© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Ethan smiled and ran towards Lora to hug her.

"Mommy, have you fallen in love with the handsome Uncle?" Ella suddenly asked. "I watched you on TV. I saw you dance with him. You looked like Cinderella dancing with her prince." Lora froze at her daughter's remark. She stroked Ella's hair before saying, "Don't talk about adult issues, sweetie."

Ella pouted. She replied, "I just thought you fell in love with him. Since the princesses in the movies marry the prince after dancing with him."

Lora chuckled at her daughter's

innocence. She lightly pinched her cheek and said, "Well, Mommy is not a princess and that man is not a prince either, so that's not going to happen. Come, let me read you guys a story and put you to bed.

When Lora left the children's room later on, the two kids opened their eyes and sat on their beds. Ethan took his fablet from under his pillow, a serious expression on his face. He said, "Daddy has earned some points! He danced with Mommy."

"Yes! I'm so happy," Ella replied, her eyes gleaming with joy. "I'm giving him a thumbs up!"

Ethan nodded seriously and uttered, "Daddy has become a little less dumb. He now knows how to take advantage of the situation. He was able to dance with Mommy because she couldn't reject him in public." "Are we going to live happily ever after now?" Ella asked excitedly.

Ethan shook his small head. His brows met, giving him an expression that made him look like an adult. He sighed and replied, "It will take more than a dance for them to make up."

Looking down at his tablet where he

had drawn his action plan, he shook his head and remarked, "It's going to be a long ride. We need to get rid of that evil woman first... Mommy will never forgive Daddy as long as that woman is around."
