Mafia’s token
Jenica turned to the old woman and smiled. “It’s none of your business, Old Madam.”
She took big steps out of the mansion. Using the family token, she instructed the family driver to take her to a famous clubhouse.
While inside the car, she bit her lip and mobilized her internal force to prevent the poison from spreading inside her body. She sent a message to her assistant to notify Agent Z of the clubhouse’s location.
Jenica closed her eyes to calm the strong beating of her heart. Soon the car stopped at the clubhouse and she immediately got out of the car.
She went straight to the VIP room she had booked earlier and took a seat on the sofa. Jenica didn’t wait long for Agent Z to appear.
When the man entered the VIP room and saw her as pale as a corpse, he quickly stepped behind the sofa. He inserted his inner force through her back to help her seal the poison.
“Who used those damned needles?” he asked after a few minutes. He didn’t ask if the inserted needle was pulled out because he knew those needles will rot inside the body within a few seconds of flesh contact.
Jenica opened her eyes and blew out air. She looked at the man who sat across from her. “Lynet Mondragon. During my mission in South, I discovered traces of poisonous needles in a chain of Mondragon Store.”
“I see.” Agent Z’s eyes narrowed. “I have secured an evidence of Mondragon’s involvement in those damned needles case. But I didn’t expect you, a top agent, to fall for a silly trick,” he said playfully.
Jenica knew that Agent Z was mocking her for incompetence but she didn’t care. The poison inside her body is sealed but that doesn’t mean she is safe from danger. It was a ticking bomb that could kill her at any time.
But she need to examine the kind of poison brought by that poisonous needle. She was not sure if the poison is the same as the one she detoxified in the South or not, so it’s not safe to take an antidote for now.
When Agent Z saw that she had no plans to joke around, he lost his interest and instead took out a folder. He threw it in her way and Jenica caught it, taking out its contents.
“It’s the evidence I’ve gathered about Antonete’s branch and Jared’s cooperation. But that is only half of the evidence and you need to find the other half before you can use it against them,” said Agent Z.
Jenica raised her eyebrows and looked straight into the man’s eyes. “You have the other half, right?” she asked.
He smiled and did not answer. Jenica snorted and kept the folder. Then she grabbed the phone from her pocket and fiddled with it for a moment before showing the screenshot of the chat history of Code X and Anonymous to Agent Z.
“Months ago, I’ve got an intel that someone from the capital asked Code X to find missing trucks that should contain those poisonous needles.”
“Code X?” Agent Z raised a brow. “How did you contact Code X?”
“It’s a secret,” she said with a smile.
Agent Z has little impression of Code X. Code X is unknown to the public and only fifty members of its secret membership know how to contact the mysterious hacker.
Even HQ did not know how to contact the hacker who once attacked the small intelligence system cluster of its branch in Singapore. The only message Code X left for HQ was ‘sorry, my client don’t like you dogs snooping around.’
Agent Z once encountered Code X when the hacker stole the intelligence he had worked so hard to obtain.
And knowing Jenica has the way to contact Code X, Agent Z sees her in the different light but only for a second. He snorted. “That damned hacker?” He smiled dangerously at her. “Give me that damned hacker’s contact, Agent J.”
Jenica blinked and that’s when she remembered her encounter with Agent Z years ago. But it was just an accident and she was just starting out then in the industry. She was only practicing her skills, but never have she imagined that she’ll accidentally stole the confidential data that Agent Z was carrying.
At that moment, she learned that the organization named International Crime Operatives is not just a detective agency, but nurtures assassins and spies as well. It was also during that time that she had the idea of joining the organization.
But it’s just a passing thought that she forgot when she had mourned for her deceased parents for several years. And when she flew to another country to escape Alex, it’s when she had the opportunity to join the organization. Equipped with her prior skills in hacking, and a little bit knowledge in poison and medicine, it was easy for Jenica to climb the ranking of top agents within a span of five years. In the said organization did her skills were honed to the highest potential.
“I don’t have Code X’s contact,” Jenica said and looked away.
“Oh?” Agent Z raised his eyebrows. “You can’t get what you need if you don’t give me what I want, Agent J.”
She gritted her teeth. Why did she forget? But how come this man still remember that damn incident? It’s been years since it happened and even she has almost forgotten that!
With a sigh, she took out a black calling card and gave it to Agent Z. “This is my membership card for Code X’s website. You can’t contact Code X if you won’t use that card.” She pursed her lips, annoyed, and looked at him. “Now, give me the other half,” she urged.
Agent Z threw another folder hidden in his coat and he stood up. “If you dare to deceive me, you’ll regret it, Agent J,” he warned before stepping out of the VIP room.
Jenica was left inside with a dark face. She didn’t know if giving that so-called membership card to Agent Z is good or not. But she does need the evidence right now, even if she can find half of it, but she won’t waste her time if Agent Z has found it already.
She sighed and laid two separate pieces of evidence on the table. the first one was a picture while the other was a receipt. Jenica raised a brow and her eyes darkened when she realized what those things were pointing to.
Yvette Antonete was communicating with one of Jared’s staff. The picture showed Yvette talking to a man in a cafe. And the receipt was for the poisonous needles that Yvette bought from the man.
It seemed like the man in the picture’s just an ordinary man under Jared and have no important position so he was able to sell ten poisonous needles to the woman. Knowing Jared’s previous transaction, he doesn’t just sell illegal items like those damned needles that easy.
Jenica’s temple throbbed and she massaged it for a few seconds. So the Antonete branch had no direct connection to Jared.
Yvette Antonete might know a thing about those poisonous needles, but the woman doesn’t know that her secret boyfriend, Jobert Labastida, is the supplier of those damned needles.
The first ingredient of the poisonous needle comes from Jobert’s turf. But Jenica doesn’t know where they are being transported after Jobert. She had found a clue in Mondragon Store before that side mission was transferred to Agent Z. So that man seems to know where the next process is.
And Jenica also knew that Jobert is one of Jared’s men. So Jared must have a hand in making those needles.
“It’s too troublesome,” Jenica whispered and sighed.
Now that she knew Yvette Mondragon’s true relationship with Jared, her mission in Laguna’s over. She need to clean up the mess she’ll left in the area.
Jenica was about to stand up when the VIP room door suddenly opened. A Mafia Don came in with a cold smile. Jenica’s eyes widened. The man glanced coldly at her as he walked in and sat on the sofa like a king. Uh, how did he find her?
“Doctor Acinea, I applaud your ability to hide!” his words sounded compliment but his eyes were cold and his tone was mocking.
Jenica’s face was confused. That sly Agent Z let this scumbag find her after getting the thing he needed from her? Is he treating her like a trash that he could dispose of whenever she outlasts her usefulness?
Jenica clenched her fist. “What do you want?” she asked.
Annoyance passed through the mafia don’s eyes. “Come with me,” he said then stood up and left the VIP room.
The corner of her lips twitched but she couldn’t do anything but to obey his order. Jenica’s sure that the mafia won’t kill her. Because if he wanted to, she would have been lying on the floor by now.
The man brought her back to his house which raised Jenica’s eyebrows. When she saw the mafia don’s wife with a radiant smile, she realized that it was the man’s wife who wanted to find Doctor Acinea and not the antipathetic man. She breathed a sigh of relief.
“Doctor!” the woman greeted happily and approached her with a smile. She extended her hand in front of Jenica. “I’m glad to see you again!”
Jenica smiled back at the woman and accepted her handshake. “I got a lot of things to do. If not for your husband’s kind invitation, I’ll surely forget my promise. I’m sorry,” she said with an apologetic smile.
In fact, she completely forgot her promise to the woman. So it might be the reason why the Mafia Don was following her around. Jenica just assumed that the man was mad at her for toying with him, so he had a martial artist follow her. But who in the right mind would use a martial artist way above her level to ‘invite’ her back to the mafia don’s house?
Who wouldn’t be afraid if a master is relentlessly pursuing her?
The woman glared at her husband before she pulled her to sit at the table. Jenica cleared a throat. “How’s your health?”
The woman happily told the story of her seemingly miraculous recovery and praised Jenica over and over again for her great skills. Jenica helplessly gave the woman a smile and a nod until she asked her what she wanted as a ‘reward’ for what she did.
“Your husband already compensated me. No need to give me more,” she denied.
‘Reward? We’ll no thanks. Your husband’s glaring at me like I owe him a billion bucks!’ Jenica thought and secretly grimaced.
The woman shook her head. “That won’t do, Doctor. He should compensate you as my husband, but I as the patient must also compensate you.”
How absurd to hear the woman’s kind words. Jenica stole a glance at the Mafia Don sitting not faraway and leaned a little bit closer to the woman. “How did you and your husband meet?” she asked.
“Huh?” The woman didn’t expect her to ask about it, but later smiled and chuckled. “He’s a friend of my brother. We met and fell in love at first sight.”
Love at first sight?
Jenica grimaced. “It must be tough spending a night with that bast –” When she saw the woman’s loving gaze to her husband, she changed her words. “with your husband.”
“Of course. There are a lot of woman eyeing my husband and I can’t…” The woman sighed. “Well Doctor, you must accept my gift. I won’t take no for an answer!”
So Jenica could do nothing but to accept the woman’s gift, which was a special token.
“This is my token,” said the woman. “It can command half of my husband’s men so whenever you need help, just use it.”
Jenica was stunned for a moment but recovered immediately. She stared at the woman seriously. “This thing is too valuable,” she said and was about to return the token but the woman shook her head.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Just take it. I will feel sad if you don’t.”
Jenica looked at the Mafia Don who was standing on the side. He has folded his arms and his face soured upon looking at the token in her hands. Without hesitation, she accepted the token which earned her a death glare from the man.
Heh. The Mafia Don didn’t like to give her that token but he wouldn’t voice out his grievances to his wife who was very fond of Jenica.
