The world of mafia
People might know a thing or two about the secret organization of notorious assassins that was responsible for assassinating corrupt officials and wanted criminals around the world. But far beyond the world of assassination is the world that the public does not know. A world that even the government doesn’t dare to mess with.
It’s the underground world of the mafia.
Since Jenica is one of the HQ members, she knows something about mafia organizations. But because the world she lives in is different from theirs, the information she holds is not that deep.
She also just realized that there is a Mafia Don in Laguna known to HQ. Because her identity as Doctor Acinea is too sensitive, HQ decided to contact the Mafia Don in that area to help her in her mission.
The man stared at her for a few seconds before curling the corner of his lips. “I never thought that you are a beautiful woman, Doctor Acinea. If I had known earlier, I should have waited for you before marrying my wife.”
Jenica’s lips twitched and black lines appeared on her temple. “As you know, I need your help to stop Bree Mondragon’s investigation on Doctor Acinea’s identity. I know that you have ears and eyes everywhere in Laguna so it’s easy for you to track the private investigator responsible for this task.”
The man raised his eyebrows. “What do I get in return, Miss Jane Lau?” he asked. His voice was mocking her and his eyes were cold.
“I will treat your wife, Don.”
In an instant, the man was in front of her and his strong hand was on her neck. “What do you know about my wife, Miss Jane?” he coldly asked, emphasizing the ‘wife’ word.
Jenica held the hand that was choking her. With a flick of her finger, a needle as thin as hair inserted itself onto the man’s wrist. The man’s face was confused and he immediately let go.
*cough* *cough*
Jenica held her own neck while coughing. She gritted her teeth and raised her hateful glare at the man. “Just because you’re a don, you can kill whoever you want?” She stood properly and straightened her disheveled clothes. “Remember that before I became a doctor, I was a poison master. If you touch me again, you might not know how you die,” she warned the man.
“You dare to poison me?” he asked angrily when he noticed that his arm was turning purple. “Give me the antidote!”
Jenica sneered. “Do the end of our bargain first. Stop that private investigator and I’ll cure you. Also, stop Bree Mondragon from asking help from Mondragon clan in the South and I’ll cure your wife. A favor for a favor. Do do we have a deal?” she asked with a smile, but her eyes were cold looking straight into the man’s eyes.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
She never let anyone who hurt her go unpunished.
“If I don’t agree, you won’t give me the antidote?” asked the man, sneering at her.
Jenica smirked. “Don’t worry, you still have 24 hours before you die. I’ll be back tomorrow morning to ask for the result of our bargain.” She turned around and was about to walk out the door. Before she finally stepped out, she turned to the man who had fallen on the floor and was pale. “I need to remind you, that poison is made for torture so prepare yourself. Also, it was newly made by me so no other poison master has the cure. It will take a week for a poison master to produce a cure but only if you are still alive to take it.” She smiled before finally stepping out and the door closed automatically.
A cold glint flashed across her eyes. Now that she solved the problem of private investigator, it was now time to pay Bree a visit.
So that night, she quietly jumped into the villa where Bree was staying. She flew the little spybugs into the house to get the structural blueprint of the house while she hid in the height of a tree just a few steps from the high gate of Bree’s house.
Like what she did at the factory in the South, she learned the exact location of the dog and security guards patrolling the inside of the large gate. She sneaked inside and avoided the areas where the security guards and security cameras were. She also used a medicinal plant to rub on her body so that the dog would not catch her scent.
After a few seconds, she silently entered the open balcony of Bree’s room. The woman was sleeping on the bed and it looked like she was having a nightmare because her head was tossing and turning and she was sweating.
Jenica’s gaze deepened. Maybe the heavens were helping her. She raised her hand and spread the liquid medicine she used earlier on Lynet.
“I’m fortunate to find you in distress or else this medicine might not work,” she whispered.
Even if her medicine works magically like a truth spell, but there is certain requirement to meet in order for it to be effective. And that is… the victim should be in a state of frenzy. Earlier, Lynet was agitated that’s why it was effective, and now, Bree was having a nightmare so it should also activate the liquid medicine.
“Wake up,” she said to Bree.
Bree quickly sat up and looked around breathlessly. Her brow furrowed but before she could speak, the expression on her face calmed down. Jenica then knew that her medicine did it.
But she also knew that Bree will wake up sooner than Lynet because this woman has a cold heart and strong mind. She must ask fast and leave immediately.
“What did Lynet send you?” Jenica asked.
While she was asking Bree, she picked up the phone on the bedside table and opened it with the help of her bypassing device. She looked for Bree and Lynet’s convo and deleted the text convo about the ID card. Then all the information saved on the woman’s phone was copied on her phone.
“Doctor Acinea’s ID card,” Bree answered her question.
“Do you believe it so?” she asked again while busy copying the contents of Bree’s phone.
“Not really. So I hired someone to investigate where that ID card came from.”
“Did you recognize the logo in the ID card?”
After she copied all the information, she put the woman’s phone back on the bedside table and then faced Bree who was dumbfounded while answering her question.
“No. But it was familiar.”
Jenica pursed her lips and raised her hand. “Forget about the ID card and what Lynet had said about Jane Lau’s strange personal things. Don’t investigate the ID card and forget that you hired a private investigator to investigate this matter.”
Just then she quickly picked up the needle again and jumped onto the open balcony.
Because of her haste, she did not see the movement of Bree’s eyes following her direction. A cold glint flashed across the woman’s eyes and a cold smile appeared on her lips.
…
Jenica was in a good mood the next morning. She had successfully stopped the picture from spreading and got an intel on Bree’s phone. Well, she was lucky last night.
And as she promised the Mafia Don, she returned to the club house the next day for the two of them to fulfill the end of the bargain. She saw the man frowning as he sat on the chair.
The man’s shoulder-length auburn hair was in a mess and his face was pale. He was shooting daggers at her with his sharp glare.
Jenica’s lips twitched. “Okay, okay. I am here to give you the antidote so stop killing me with your eyes, Don.”
The man huffed and threw a small envelope to her. “Now give me the antidote, lass!”
Jenica caught the envelope and immediately opened it. She saw a photo of a man, whom she assumed was the private investigator, and some broken pictures of the ID card. “Did you kill him?” she asked, frowning.
“What?” the man sneered. “Are you regretting bargaining with me now?”
Jenica carelessly threw the envelope inside the paper shredder and looked at the man. She walked closer to him.
The man tried to throw her away but she was quick to hit his acupoint rendering him motionless on his seat. Jenica smiled. “Didn’t I warn you?” she asked and flicked a finger his forehead. “I know your body more than you, Don. With a flick of my finger, a mighty mafia don like you might end up a handicap for the rest of your life. Do you want that?”
The Mafia Don’s face soured and looked deeply at her. But because Jenica rendered him motionless on his seat, he decided to shut his mouth.
Jenica laughed softly before she opened the man’s mouth and fed him a medicine. “You’ll be fine after an hour. And for the time being, I’ll visit your wife to cure her.” She grabbed something from his pocket and held out a family token. “I’ll borrow this.”
She then stepped out of that room.
The man waited an hour before he felt his body again. Even though his knees were numb, he forced himself to step out of the room and immediately called his men to stop Doctor Acinea from what that woman was planning to his wife.
“Boss, that woman has left.”
The man cursed and quickly drove the car back to his house. He ran to his wife’s room and when he opened the door, he saw his wife awake and leaning on the headboard of the bed.
The woman turned to him and smiled. “Honey, I’ve been waiting for you for a while. Doctor Acinea said you’d be coming home and she wasn’t wrong.”
The man’s vision blurred due to impending tears and he took big steps towards his wife, hugging her tightly and passionately in his arms.
When he looked at the bedside table, he saw the family token that Doctor Acinea had “borrowed” from him and a letter.

Dear Don,
I cured your wife so do the end of our bargain. If you don’t, I’ll make sure you’ll stay home for the rest of your life.
– Doctor Acinea

The man’s face darkened upon reading the Doctor’s note. No one has ever threatened him and made him run back home like this!
