Chapter 3115
"What exactly made you change your mind?" Lucas asked.
"I told you! I just graduated, and there's nothing urgent waiting for me back home," said Ivy.
"Aryadelle and Taronia are so far apart. Are you sure your parents won't mind you staying and working here?"
"I've already talked to them. They're not very happy about it, but they won't stop me either," Ivy said.
"You're disregarding their feelings and choosing to stay here... You don't strike me as the rebellious type," Lucas remarked.
Suppressing a smile, Ivy said, "You guessed right. I've never argued with my parents. Besides, I won't be staying here forever, so they won't be too upset about me staying for now."
Even someone as reserved as Lucas could tell why Ivy insisted on staying in Taronia.
"You came here specifically for me," Lucas stated with conviction. "I didn't want you working at the company, and you decided that you'd do housework and cook for me. You said you'd go back to Aryadelle, but now you've changed your mind. Are you... in love with me?"
Ivy's face turned crimson as she could not deny it, knowing that her feelings were quite apparent.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"Can't I be in love with you?" Ivy awkwardly said. "You don't have a girlfriend, right? As long as you don't have one, I am free to like you!"
Lucas was left speechless by how straightforward she was and found himself unable to argue with her.
"You said you'd eventually go back to Aryadelle. If that's the case, we can't have a long-term relationship. So, why waste time?" Lucas gently turned her down.
"I'll go back to Aryadelle in the future, but that's further into the future!"
Lucas blushed at what she was implying and said, "You are too free-spirited. I don't want to waste time on you."
"I'm not asking you to waste time on
me, but don't stop me from wasting my time on you, okay?" Ivy pleaded. "You can continue living your dife just treat me as you would a friend."
Lucas remained silent for a moment.
"I'll go now. I'll start at your company tomorrow!" Ivy picked up her bag, ready to leave.
Lucas did not say another word.
After Ivy left, Lucas sat on the sofa, lost in his thought.
"She really resembles Irene, but Irene is gone, so who on earth is she? If she's not Irene, why would she come to Tarona looking for me? Why would she willingly do housework and cooking for me, or even work at my company? Only Irene would do these things."
The next day, Ivy arrived at Night Technologies.
Seeing her, Caspian approached her with a cheerful smile on his face. "Ivy, did Lucas send you here?"
Ivy shook her head with a smile. "I wanted to come, and he didn't say no."
Caspian laughed. "Alright! Do whatever you want. If he didn't say anything, it means he accepted you."
"I'll be his assistant, then!" Ivy said.
"Sure. How much do you want to be paid?" Caspian asked.
Ivy considered it and said, "Let's wait until I've worked a full month! If something happens and I need to leave, you won't have to pay me anything."
Caspian clicked his tongue with
disapproval. "Why does it sound like
you are prepared to run at any moment? Don't make Lucas fall in
love with you and run away after
that. That would be horrible!"
