House Of Legions (The Angel Descendants book 1)

Chapter 35 (Liam)

Chapter 35 (Liam)

“We both know you aren’t big on love William, but you are one of honour, seeing Franchesca’s burial is honourable, even I am here, but it doesn’t explain why you’re sitting out here.”

She didn’t face him, he didn’t move, “The last time you hid was when you met Roselletta Rulaen.”

He had forgotten how blunt and straightforward Alexa could be. Elvan always the bitter bastards he thought, “I’m here to protect Clare, I don’t want the distraction, so I’m keeping my distance.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

As if he said it all, she gasped, “You have feelings for HER, the weakling? But you barely know her, I’m intrigued.”

He clenched his fists, his guard defensive, Alexa knew how to get under his skin, he told himself to be careful, keep the shield up, “She can’t even ward off a Shapeshifter, Her body is too weak to handle my presence and she cries A LOT.”

Alexa raised her voice, sarcasm unfiltered, “She would, she just lost her mother.”

He almost smiled at that, “Now you defend her.”

Alexa turned quickly, and pushed out her hands, before she pointed at him “I’m not, but it sounds like you are making excuses and finding logical reasons to your actions.” She arched her eyebrow waiting for him to deny it, but he didn’t, she continued, “When the most logical one of all is that which you refuse to acknowledge, but fair enough, your personal life isn’t one with many red ticks is it, how is Roselletta doing, are you still her run to guy.”

He grimaced at the thought, “You certainly know how to get me thinking don’t you?”

“I know you for almost three hundred years, William Blackwyll, our friendship is one based on mutual ground and a barely there honesty, you didn’t just call me here for a mere escape plan, you wanted my council on whether she might break you. You are always too secretive.”

She continued, “She had been living as a deceptor for so long, William, I want to meet her myself, but you are in the wrong company if you seek answers.”

Alexa assured him, “You speak to my cousin, he’s in L.A, I’ll send his number, but I could tell you that the death of her mother is a certain dampener to things, so give her space.”

Liam didn’t say anything, he had wanted her to tell him that Clare was bad news, and he should stay away, but she didn’t, though he wasn’t surprised that she didn’t.

He knew that the only true way of knowing would be through experience and that was not something he could afford to do. Distractions were only going to keep him off course, and he knew that failure was not an option. When the time came, Clare’s life could end up in his hands, just the thought of it, left his body in an instant rage. Somebody was to blame for all of this, he had to find out who before they attacked Clare, and his own secrets came crashing down.

He focused his eyes across the water toward the ceremony, he used his extensive vision to see further, everything appearing before him, zooming in as if he were standing right there, “The ceremony is about to start, head back, before your mother sends her bats out for you.”

Alexa touched his shoulder, “Your looks are one of a rarity, if she fails to recognize your inner greatness she wouldn’t be able to resist the outer.”

He wore a black tracksuit with a hood covering his hair, he was not dressed to impress anyone, “She was able to resist Kalbreal.”

Alexa smiled, “She just lost her mother, she needs time, or it could mean that she’s getting her angelic side back, good luck with those hormones of hers, the girl is going to be a walking Aphrodite.”
