Chapter 423
Chapter 423
Stuart was exceptionally cautious. His computer, beyond being heavily encrypted, only allowed files to be sent from a specific account. Any attempt to send or copy files using a different account would trigger an alarm, notifying Stuart on his phone and also alerting Fletcher. But with Stuart now away from Rosefrost Hollow, someone had tampered with his computer. This was indeed a significant issue. Upon hearing this from Fletcher, the others' expressions turned serious. Fletcher used a spare key to unlock the villa's door, and the group hurried inside, heading straight for the study upstairs. The desk in the study was a mess, clearly indicating someone had been searching for something. Fletcher, with a serious demeanor, tried to access the computer but couldn't get past the password to see if anything was amiss. Brian immediately checked the security cameras and exclaimed, “It was Morwenna who came!” The others quickly gathered around.
Morwenna, making no attempt to conceal her actions, was clearly seen on camera entering Windcharm Villas, rummaging through papers, and then accessing Stuart's computer. It was obvious who had sent the files. After watching the footage, the group fell silent.
Matthew, looking conflicted, asked, “Can we find out what files were sent? Morwenna wouldn't harm Stuart, would she?” Matthew knew Morwenna quite well; they had acted in plays together, and his brother attended the same school as Morwenna. The others, unfamiliar with Morwenna except for knowing she was the woman Stuart loved, turned to Fletcher. Fletcher, frowning at the monitor, was deep in thought. Morwenna's expression was too cold, not at all like the woman Fletcher once knew. What had happened?
Fletcher hadn't kept up with Morwenna recently. After finishing surgery on Jethro Gallagher, he and Morwenna had a late-night snack, and her gesture of biking him home stirred feelings he’d been trying to suppress. But now, after just a few days apart, what had changed? Stuart had left Rosefrost Hollow in a hurry, mentioning it only briefly to Fletcher. But seeing Morwenna's demeanor now, Fletcher realized something unusual must have happened.
Jack, the military man, spoke with clarity, “Fletcher, focus. What’s the situation? Why could Morwenna access Stuart's computer? Did Stuart permit it, or did she do something she shouldn't have while he was away?” Fletcher finally snapped out of his thoughts, shaking his head, “I'm not sure, but Morwenna isn't the type to harm anyone. Jack, you and Samuel, go find Stuart. Matthew, keep an eye on the Hetfield family and see if anything's going on. I'll try to talk to Morwenna.”
Brian quickly asked, “And what about me? What should I do? Should I approach Morwenna?” Fletcher sternly replied, “You do nothing. Remember, don't use your usual tactics on Morwenna. She's not one of your usual targets; she's the woman Stuart genuinely loves.” Brian pouted, “Alright, no meddling then.”
Fletcher had his reasons for not involving Brian. Despite Brian’s boyish charm and innocent appearance, he was the most cunning and strategic among them. When it came to Morwenna, whether investigating or helping, they needed to be straightforward and honest. The group immediately sprang into action.
Despite Phineas's attempts to keep things under wraps, they quickly discovered that the Hetfield family had encountered trouble, specifically Norbert. However, Jack and Samuel couldn't locate Stuart. There was no trace of him, whether checking travel routes or phone locations. It was as if Stuart had vanished into thin air after leaving Rosefrost Hollow.
