Howling Hearts

Chapter 72

Scarlet:

"Beep... Beep....Beep" I heard the sound echoing deep into the forest.

"Scarlet" I heard my wolf call. I turned around to face her and saw her massive white figure in front of me. Even on all fours, she towered over me.

My wolf was red normally, but somehow now she had become a pure white color. it is probably due to me accepting my identity and recovering my memories. "You've changed" I said, in total awe of her beauty.

I always thought she was beautiful, even after being bullied by everyone for being a red wolf. For being a fox.

I was never insecure due to her. What made her the most beautiful to me was that she was mine.

She understood my darkest thoughts, my deepest secrets and my whole existence.

She giggled a little while shaking her head.

"Yeah well it's been a while"

"It has, hasn't it."

We just sat staring at one another for a while. Thriving within the silence and reconnecting once more. Her fur was as white as snow whilst her eyes were redder, almost blood. Her eyes suddenly glowed purple as if she was communicating with someone.

I turned my head to the side like a little pup inspecting her.

"It was the moon goddess." She shrugged, letting me see the silver ends of her white fur. As if it was a little reminder of our

mate.

"Scarlet, I don't know how to tell you this. But we are reaching the end. Our end." 1

My eyes grew to the size of saucers at her words and I started to step back a bit, in fear of losing everything that I had just started to build.

"Calm down scarlet. This is just the path to a new beginning"

"I...I can't die yet. I have to raise my baby and be with Lucian and..."

"No Scarlet. Our end doesn't mean death."

"I know it means I have to go to mount Olympus." She shook her head in protest.

"Just shut up and listen for once please." She said in a frustrated tone.

I was taken aback by her words, as she was always a kind soul and for her to become so harsh was something new.

So I just nodded my head when she looked at me in anticipation.

"I think you've realized I've changed. And so have you" I nodded my head, unsure of where she was going with all of this.

"Think of it like a caterpillar in metamorphosis. In some way, that is an end to the caterpillar's life and the start of the butterfly.

We are in metamorphosis. We are transforming into our highest self. Our best self.

Our most powerful self. And although it would've been best to just wait for time to take its course, we have no such thing as time on our hands."

"So how do we speed up this metamorphosis?" I asked even though I still wasn't entirely sure of what this 'metamorphosis' entailed for me.

"I'm glad you asked. You have to shift and so does Lucian, although you have marked one another in all ways, capable. So do us as two wolves." Suddenly guilt wrapped its arms around my heart, squeezing and tugging at it violently.

"I'm so sorry everything was just..."Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

"Scarlet shut up. It's OK, I was there with you and I am part of you. I know your thoughts. No need for an explanation, but now has to be a top priority. Like as soon as possible." I nodded my head at her.

"Although it would've been better to have our strengths grow before doing this,

this will speed up both of our metamorphosis and combine us all together with a tie that is beyond unbreakable even by the gods themselves."

She continued while she circled me.

"As for a plan in regards to the war that is on the brink of breaking out.

Fight it and trust each other with so much depth and you will win it all.

Aiden is very impulsive. That is his greatest weak point. Make use of his obsession and impulsiveness. And turn the tables.

As for Zeus, he too has those issues, but he has a strength and weakness of seeing everyone as replaceable. Except for you. Make use of this weakness".

She then moved her snout down to my belly.

"As for this little one. Grandma has already shielded her from any danger of this war or the stress there of, that may accompany all of this."

I smiled at those words and felt secure.

This child has become my everything and yet I don't know them or their face, but they have crept up my heart and taken up a space so big that Lucian is fighting for space in there.

"now one last thing" She said before licking the top of my forehead and blowing all her air out of her lungs onto my head. I could feel a power surge within me.

A feeling that is hard to describe. But almost like little bubbles floating around my body, barely touching my skin. Just a tingle that felt nice.

"Now go to our mate. He's worried sick about you." She said, looking over into the woods.

"Princess, you better be okay or else, ill tear the world down until you are," I heard Lucian say.

And a warmth filled my heart.

Not that I wanted him to tear the world down.

It was just someone so kind and warm who was willing to do that for me.

I started running through the woods until I came to a light and I heard his breathing and continued to run through it, blinded by the brightness.

I batted my eyes at the light that was blinding me. My eyes felt weary and the beeping had become louder.

"Scarlet?" I heard that handsome husky voice next to me. I turned my head to look at him, covering my eyes from the hospital light.

"It's so bright" Before I could finish my words, the sky went dark as the moon moved in front of it and the light in the hospital room burst and, shattered.

I heard the glass pieces crash against the floor. In total shock, I looked at Lucian's figure in the dark before my wolf helped me to see clearly.

He had a smug face and his eyes glowed a bright gold. "Better Princess?"
