Chapter 1075: Life is Full of Unexpected Events

Allan meticulously absorbed each word from Dr. Watson's instructions.

"Thank you, Dr. Watson."

"It's alright. She'll be transferred to the ward shortly. Comfort her, and remember, there will be children

in the future."

Allan nodded, "Okay."

With her tasks conveyed, Dr. Watson departed.

After Dr. Watson left, instead of immediately returning to Mitch and the others, Allan stood by the

corridor window, gazing at the city lights outside. Emptiness gnawed at him.

"Want a smoke?"

As Allan stared outside, lost in thought, a deep voice suddenly reached his ears.

Momentarily breaking from his reverie, Allan didn't turn around or respond to the voice. Instead, in a

husky voice, he asked, "Were you also upset when Miss Thompson had her accident?"

Upon hearing Allan's words, Zane's brows furrowed slightly, followed by a soft "hm."

Allan's voice was low, his gaze fixed on the window, as he continued in a hoarse voice, "I used to think

someone like me wouldn't place too much importance on emotions, but it seems I really overestimated

myself back then."

Zane didn't respond to Allan's words. He retrieved a cigarette from his pocket and handed it to Allan,

saying, "Got it from Albi just now."

Allan took the cigarette and bit it between his lips, only to remember that they were in a hospital. He

abandoned the idea of lighting it and held it in his mouth.

"Life is full of unexpected events," Allan muttered when he heard Zane's words.

Zane looked at Allan's face, "If you can't console people, you better keep quiet."

Zane glanced at Allan and continued, "You're quite picky."

After his remark, Zane shifted his gaze away from Allan's face and toward Yanis, who was standing

nearby in the corridor. "Back when Yanis had her accident, I was even more devastated."

Allan was well aware of Yanis and Zane's history.

Their first child had died shortly before birth, and another child hadn't even had the chance to come into

this world. Afterward, Yanis had struggled to get pregnant again, and the suffocating feeling at that time

was almost unbearable.

The two remained silent by the window for a while before returning to the emergency room entrance.

Reed would need some time before she was ready to come out.

"You should take Yanis and Mr. Lawrence back first," Allan said, breaking the silence.

Zane nodded in agreement, checking the time on his wristwatch, "We'll wait for Reed to come out."

If Reed hadn't come out yet, Yanis wouldn't leave, and even if she did, she wouldn't be able to sleep

soundly. It made more sense to wait until Reed was out and everything was confirmed.

Allan acquiesced, deciding not to say more on the matter.

The early morning hours in the hospital were eerily quiet, with even the slightest noise echoing clearly.

In the midst of the silence, a patient involved in a drunk-driving accident was wheeled in, covered in

blood, and rushed into the emergency room.

Yanis watched as the bloodstains dripped onto the floor, furrowing her brows.

Zane placed a hand on Yanis's shoulder, drawing her into an embrace.

Yanis reached up and returned the gesture, hugging Zane back.

Although the doctor had said it would be half an hour, Reed didn't emerge until forty minutes later.

As Reed emerged from the room, Allan hurried forward, "Reed."

Pale and weak, Reed looked as if she had just recovered from a severe illness, her face devoid of

color.

Tears welled up in Reed's eyes the moment she saw Allan.

Full of heartache, Allan bent down to kiss her cheek gently and consoled her in a hushed voice, "It's

okay, don't be scared."

"Our child is gone."

After a long pause, Reed uttered those words.

Allan held Reed's hand tightly, "It's okay, as long as you're alright. We'll have more children in the

future."

Reed's crying grew more intense.

Mitch stood on the side, his brows furrowed, observing the scene. He had considered Allan to be far

from perfect, but in this moment, while Allan had his flaws, his care for Reed was beyond measure.

When Reed's emotions settled and Allan had comforted her, he turned his attention to Mitch.

Mitch had initially thought that Allan wasn't a perfect person.

But now, it seemed that while Allan might not be perfect in many ways, he was exemplary in how he

treated Reed.

As Mitch approached, Allan took a step back, making space for him.

Reed's tearful gaze shifted to Mitch, and once again, tears streamed down her face.

"Allan, can you console people?" Allan stood by, observing Mitch's attempts to console Reed, and

couldn't help but ask.

Mitch glanced at Allan and responded with a low voice in Reed's ear.

"Is that true?"

Mitch nodded, "First, focus on recovering. We can discuss this matter later."

Reed nodded weakly, "Okay."

After Mitch finished talking to Reed, Yanis stepped forward, reaching out to touch Reed's face gently,

and said softly, "It's alright."

Reed, looking at Yanis, had tears brimming once again, but this time, she managed to hold them back.

"

Yanis."

Bending down, Yanis hugged Reed gently, comforting her, "Take good care of yourself. There will be

more chances in the future."

"Okay."

Yanis's words seemed to soothe Reed more effectively than Allan and Mitch's attempts.

Although the surgery was performed under anesthesia, there would still be some discomfort. After

talking for a while, Yanis convinced Reed to rest. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"Yanis, you and Mr. Lawrence should go back. We'll take care of things here."

Yanis nodded, "I'll come back tomorrow. Please look after her."

Mitch nodded, "Of course."

Allan glanced at Reed, who had fallen asleep, then turned to Mitch, "You go with them. I'll stay here."

Mitch agreed with a nod, "Alright."

As Yanis and Zane departed, Mitch watched them leave before heading back into the hospital.

Just as he reached the elevator, Mitch's phone rang.

It was Natasha calling.

Stopping in his tracks, Mitch answered, "Natasha."

"Brother, how's my sister? When will you be back?" Natasha's voice was tinged with concern.

Mitch remained outside the elevator, walking toward the waiting area and sitting down before replying,

"She's fine. We should be back by tomorrow. Let her rest, and remember, you have school tomorrow."

"We want to come see my sister."

"Natasha, it's late. Allan and I are here. Nothing will happen. Be a good girl and listen to me."

There was a moment of silence before Natasha replied, "Alright, we'll go to sleep then."

Mitch responded with an affirming "hm" and bid Natasha goodnight before ending the call.

After hanging up, Mitch didn't rush upstairs but decided to wait a little while longer. He wanted to give

Reed and Allan some private space.
